The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

Another movie I saw simply because of the bombarding images I saw on my campus magazine's December issue cover, ..and of course because of the 'look cool premise' of the movie of someone who zone-out or day dreaming of what he could have done. Yep, Ben Stiller as a director and the leading role in the movie did relatively a 'good' job of portraying the character. But, did I enjoy the movie?
hmm..let me put it this way:
I loved the movie when Walter Mitty IS in the midst of DAY-DREAMING,
BUT
when he decides to WAKE UP, that'st he problem...I find the movie a bit stalled.
But, still..overall, I found the movie's breathtaking scenery in Greenland, Iceland, Afghanistan, Himalaya...and other places that it deliberately took me....
was simply stunning.
Had the scenery not been that spectacular, I would have dozed off myself.
But, of course, the movie also delivered *at times* a few feel-good scenes that would take us back into what we really want to achieve in this life and what to make out of it.
Go and get what you want and live IN it.
Hmm..let me jot down what I remember about the movies:
* e-harmony: an online dating featured in the movie DOES exist!! ^-^
* Sean Penn becomes one of the important connecting roles in the movie. *awesome*
*Life Magazine: once-existing popular magazine on earth, now..partly gone.
* piano -subplot
* Sean O'Connell(?) wallet -subplot
*Oh, this movie is a REMAKE of a 1949 movie!!!
*and others.
The verdict: ***1/2 out of 5.

  1. Though I've never been a huge fan of him, Stiller seems like he can be a really interesting director, given the right time and material to work with. Nice review Suray.

    1. Well, I would not have gone to the cinema to watch it myself, had I not been 'bombardized' by the ads and trailers right here in Korea. So, as I wrote, it turned out to be a ...well worth-going movie, too, after all.
      Thank you, Dan O. ^^ for dropping by in my blog and comment on it. ^^
