Busan Trip with Family (part 1)

My second Busan Trip this year. Only this time, I went there again with my family. On board the 5-hour train (Mugunghwa:)^^ was somewhat so restless and tiring^^, but as we got off the train, the excitement rushed in. (As to why we used Mugunghwa, instead of KTX, of course, it was cheap. While KTX was way expensive). Anyway, after a long thought, we used KTX on our way back home to Seoul.^^ (see my other entries).

Ok, we arrived at around 9 pm on Friday night on August 24, 2012. As soon we got off, we got out of the Busan Train Station and unexpectedly bumped into my students who'd arrived there one day earlier. So, we took a chance to take a picture in front of the famous dancing fountain at the train square.

This is another shot of what the fountain might look like during its show.

After an hour or so, we were greeted by our friend, Ms. Kim Moon Sook who met us at the train and picked us up and arranged the whole evening plan. First thing first, we got to have dinner. Where else but....the famous Gwangali beach with its famous Diamond Bridge or Gwangali Bridge.
Then, off we went there. The camera did not do any justice to the night spectacle we saw on the beach. ^^ ANyhow...we were there to immerse into the night.
This is one of the best shots we got that night. ^^.

Another angle of what the beach at night at Gwangali beach.

Me.

My wife.

The kids....who could not help but playing around with the sand even at night.^^

A blurry picture of us with Ms. Kim.^^

BOlaveN...oh Bolaven...

I think I got to at least write something about this unusually strong gust wind or most people refer to as ' Typhoon' yesterday. The TV and media were at frenzy for 24 hours reporting this so-called Bolaven. Gosh...we were stuck inside our home without having any guts to get out. Who would?
Ok, TUeSday, August 28, 2012 would be remembered as another additional day in the minds of people of both Korean and foreign nationalities living in Korean Peninsula. As what? As the day of Bolaven.
I just realized that there are some casualties in the Jeju and South Cheolla Province, not to mention the damages and carnage that the Bolaven had caused. The material loss would be tremendously great, too--I supposed.
As of writing this entry, I did not yet find any articles or news reporting the amount of material loss suffered by Korea. But, still, no matter how much it may have cost the country, I am still relieved and thankful that most of the country's citizens were all willingly take shelters and measures in anticipating Bolaven.
I just could not imagine what would've happened had there been no weather satellites to give us warnings... and what would've happened had no preemptive cautions been taken days before it struck the country.
'Tis a good thing that most of the people were safe.
---
As for me, it was my first storm experience.
Seoul was not that directly affected by the typhoon, but the eerie sound of the wind whirling over our house was so deafening that I came to terms....and could not stop but imagining what those people in the direct-hit areas must have experienced....
Today, Wednesday, school children are back to their school.
I took Eyra to school today..and the sun was shining brightly as if nothing like Bolaven had ever happened the day before.
But...seeing the debris....the bent trees.....the disarrayed bushes and flowers beds...along the way up to school...reminded me...that Bolaven indeed just VISITED us the day before.
Alhamdulillah that we are alright.

Seoul Dream Forest (part 3)

Taking a rest after playing around in the park. The bright little tent was of their own choice. They found it amusing and fun to snuggle into a small tent like that.

The real atmosphere of the day. It was almost dusk, so the sky seemed to light up its orange color beyond...

Just when I thought they were ready to take a rest....they got out of the tent...putting on their sandals...

and...off they gone. So, I might as well use the tent and put myself down, snuggled myself into the tent...which to no surprise only accommodate half of me..., even I could not get my feet into it..so, I miht sa well lay down on the grass...

....while watching the kids running along....

Some other kids were seen trying to catch some bugs with their bug net...

a few minutes later...they were back into the tent....to have some snack and take a rest...again.

Eyra was laying down while Freya was still vividly trying to think of something to do

OK, Daddy's turn to take a picture with you, gals. starting with the big sister..

Then..the little sister. So as seen from the pic. above, we were pretty much having a camp right beside the curb or pavement in the park

아빠, 사랑해...^^
LOVE you, too..kiddos^^

As the night fell...more and more people were flocking in.^^ kinda funny, eh?
Yes, the park in SEOUL Dream Forest was indeed a great place to hang out with the whole family and friends...

See...the dark set in.

But the kids did not stop from running..

chasing each other...

Running around the green.....even when it's already dusk....

Seoul Dream Forest (part 2)

Now this is awesome! Who does not want to lay down on a green grass and spread a mat or any other picnic mat to put ourselves down...gazing up the blue sky?

"Tis Summer and it's 6 p.m. so the sky's pretty much clear and bright. With the lush green of the meadow(?), lawn(?), green(?)......anything we called it...either way..it was just splendid.

Move to the light, kid...so I could take your picture, alright. There...stop and pause...opps Eyra..you got to move up to the left...

There....^^ But, then...it was so bright that even wearing sunglasses would not help you from the exposure of the sunlight, right? Sorry, gals. But Daddy just wanted to make sure that you got it all.

I just could not believe my eyes, that this whole vast green area was within reach from where I lived. I should've known it earlier.

Even, they have a cafe..a good one. The park opens up to 10 pm, so it's pretty much a convenient venue to spend an hour or two...^^

And..what a park or forest be without a playground, eh?
The kids were so excited as they found out about it.

Slide? check! They got it.

Time capsule to get themselves lost?

LIKE THIS?
Sure, boy..oh boy..I love this picture. This IS really something.
I love Eyra's facial expression as I zoomed them in...

A stationary bike to burn up the calories?
For kids? ^^ hahaha

The day was getting darker..then we decided to set up our tent ( I mean, the kids' tent)^^

The tent was fit enough to snuggle two or three kids inside. But I could've squeezed myself, too, actually.
The point is that...both Eyra and Freya could get what they've been wanting in Summer....
i.e. going on a camp with their Daddy.^^

Seoul Dream Forest (part 1)

We were ready to take a camping trip to a nearby Seoul Dream Forest or 서울 꿈의 숲.^^ Even the name itself is enough to arouse our curiosity
We were unfolding the kids' tent...

The brochure said that it would take us for about 20 or 30 minutes from home.
First we took a train to Seokgye station.
Then, got off at exit number 7 (was it?)^^ and walked up to the bus stop and we were waiting for the maeul bus 마을 버스 number 14 that would take us straight to the forest..

It was still in Ramadan month..and..in summer..so it was a bit hot that day. But, the thought of having ourselves soaked in relaxed atmosphere in the forest...had somewhat encouraged us to keep on with the plan of going there
(while waiting for the bus..around 5 in the evening)

Ok, we're now on the bus. We were sitting at the back row. The blaring sunlight had darkened the picture....
it's a kind of silhouette, though.^^

Inside the 마을 버스 that was taking us to the Seoul Dream Forest.

Dada.....We arrived at 서울 꿈의 숲! Seoul Dream Forest.
First: take the picture before entering the lot.
Put on the glasses, gals? ^^ (Check!)

Who would've thought that this forest IS actually encircled by three counties...right in the middle of the city. ^^ We loved it.. Right..the summer heat seemed  to be somewhat diminished as we arrived there.

See what I mean?
This IS exactly what the front facade of the opposite side of the forest. The shades did darken the picture but it did somewhat make a contrasting picture of how bright that day was...

We started walking or wandering around the forest...leaving the traces of apartment views behind..

The pavement or the walkway was nicely patched with bamboo-like pedestrian. It eased visitors to navigate themselves around the forest or park.

Another shot of picture before going deeper into the forest a.k.a. park
Eyra & Freya were so excited of ...what to encounter ahead of them.
