Bukchon Hanok Village (part 2)

now, let's go to one of the house-turned-museum (and-wait-shop-too!).
Though we did not understand what the displays were all about, we might as well enjoy them.
look, here, kiddos.
wooden statues..
then..these ones, too.
walking through
a passage to another level of the museum..
and this narrow-sunlight-lit escapade...
taken from the inside. I saw Eyra was busy looking at something she's interested in.
Enlarged escapade...
Just when we're about to leave, I found Mam trying to find a souvenir or two.
hmm..a crowded museum...
oh, didn't expect to see these inside the museum, though!

Bukchon Hanok Village (part 1)

Friday afternoon.
at around 4 pm we walked down the alleys of Bukchon Village in Central Seoul.
The kids didn't even have time to put their school bags home. We just called them up to come to village while the weather was warm enough...5 Celcius!!
There are 4 families that went along with us.
Freya and Gazi were like...holding hands all along. ^^
One of the characteristics of Bukchon is THIS.!!!
yes..psssst...pstttttt
I got lots of fun scrutinizing into the details of olden houses that left their doors intact from the past.
Oh, wish..there were not these many people around...but...
who wouldn't be here..at least once..to experience the last old alley that preserve the authentic 19th century Joseon Dynasty's atmosphere.
The whole group of family.
one of the attractions at Bukchon village is opened houses which turned into museums or shops like this.

We Met Again Finally

After more than 3 years, we finally met again.
Ms. Han, Ms. Kang, and Ms. Park (all of them used to be Korean teachers dispatched by KOICA). They were teaching Korean language and culture at our university (UGM) back then in 2008-2010).
Well, I met ms. Park in Daejeon a couple of montsh ago, but the other sonsaengnims...I haven't met them for like more than 3 years.
So, it's indeed a reunion for us when they visited us in Seoul.
What could be better way to celebrate our reunion than having Indonesian food and added with some touches like 'birthday-like' party for the kids, though none of us were celebrating one.:-)
Then, it would be a great way to enjoy the night while we're talking about nostalgia we had back then.
so many things to catch up among us. I am glad that all of them have secured their jobs in Korea.
What would be a 'gathering' like this without games?
Well, it was sort of a  coincidence that Freya tossed her toy while she's playing with them...and then we started off....playing along with it.
One thing that surely struck them was the fact that Eyra and Freya communicated with them using Korean language. Sure..it must be a shocking revelation for them who's never met both of our girls for quite some time.
As for me, it was also a good chance to remember again..the good old time we spent together in Jogjakarta.
Thank you, ms. Kang, ms. Park, and ms. Han for visiting us in Seoul.

Unplanned Picnic

Picnic in winter? why not. cold it was.
But it did not dampen our spirit of having a picnic ...outdoor.
we didn't plan this since we accidentally bump into each other at the park.
we're just having a french-fries fiesta:)

Animal Feeding Time

With animal feed in hands, Freya and Eyra were ready to feed the animals.
But first, they got to go circling around the zoo to find the animals.
Stop playing...or go on....
First stop, glass-caged kangaroo.
What about this animal?
Wait up, Sis. I want to feed him, too.
oops, isn't that too much, Freya?

Pony Ride@ Children Grand Park

I told the kids not to ride on any camel or pony or any attractions since they did it, once. But then..oh, well...
They insisted on riding just one pony this time. No camels. But still, one short ride that lasted about 2 minutes cost 3,500 Won for each kid.
But then....seeing Freya's priceless smile and happiness on her face....
all of my grunts simply gone.!
She seemed to be so happy having this experience.
"Freya, turn....and look at Daddy!"
Then...wait..who's this? Oh, I guess it's Eyra...!
She's too--her happy look on her face is so precious.
It's nice of them to let parents take pictures of their children on the pony horse.
I hope the pony horse can get a decent life...because they work very hard to please the hearts of children.

THeMe Park @ Children Grand Park: Under Renovation

This theme park no longer exists:
Yes....we visited this park in May 2012....
and this is what is happening right now.
Yep, the theme park at Children Grand Park is being renovated.
It won't be available until April 2014.
Guess...you got to wait again...
Oh, well..let's go somewhere else, then.
