노동당사 Labor Party Building @ Cheorwon, Korea

Another historical building we visited in Cheorwon: Labor Party Building.

What? Labor Party? Are we still in South Korea?
Yes, we are still in South Korea. Only that..this particular building used to be North Korea's.
Built in 1945 as the Labor Party headquarter in the area whose tasks were...
to enhance and 'instill' the dogmas....
and the teachings of Labor parties to everyone in that time.
So..they said that..those who entered....
the building would never come out alive at that time....OMG.
Well, at least that's what the history told us.
A sign and information board at the vicinity.
Now it is registered as one of Korea's National Heritage Assets.
Registered in 2002 and since then it has become of the attractions at Cheorwon.
we can go and circle the building to see how it looks like in the present day.

Some columns were lost or damaged that they are replaced by others I am not sure what.
oh, it is also a nice place to have a picture.
Apart from learning about historical background, of course.
I could imagine that this must've been one of the great buildings in its time.
At first thought, why saved this building? Can we just let it crumble considering the bitter reality it once had?
nope. That would be dangerous for the sake of future generations had we done so.
Because by preserving it, lots of people can come and learn something about our past.
A flock of people, young and old, come and go and learn something or two about it.
As for us, we were lucky to have been here. Had we not come to Cheorwon, we would never have learned about it.

So, this has been our presentation on Labor Party Building in Cheorwon, Gangwon Province.
Wait...there are more: there are a bunch of trees for us to sit and relax if you want to take a moment or two.
or let the kids play around the vicinity...
and admire the rare plants: at least to the kids' point of view.
