Jeongdongjin Beach in Winter

Full jacket (checked), gloves (checked), no swimming suits whatsoever. Who would've wanted to swim in the freezing winter on the beach? No one. Yet, we went to the beach....and that's insane. 

But..it wasn't that insane when it's white sandy beach of Jeongdongjin ..with the (in)famous Sun Cruise Ship on top of the cliff at the background.

Not many tourists around...just like we'd expected.

After all..."going to beach? in winter?" yeah..I know..I know... 

But...the sun's shining...and it just looked like any other summer..I mean..winter...

The smashing sound of waves crushing onto the shore....sort of attracted the kids' imagination.. 

oh, their Mom's too.

Oh..just look at how serene the beach was...it was like...our private long-stretch of beach. 

A magnificent time...on our private beach.. 

We wouldn't be able to take our time..and enjoy the beach for ourselves...had we been there in summer. 

A good reminder..that ...we could be on the beach even in winter.

We found some rocks...dry enough for us to climb up to...where we could take a pose or two... 

We still had one hour to go before going back to Seoul...so we took a stroll along the wooden pathway specially designed for pedestrian who may want to wander off along the beach..but...never ever wanting to get wet..ㅋㅋㅋ 

Yup..this is what the path looked like.

Sun Rise @ Day 1 in Sun Cruise

It was a good thing that the temperature was like...5 degrees or so. And we're pretty sure to enjoy the sun rise.

I took the picture from inside the room. The sky's showing colors....hmm signs that the sun was about to rise.

Kids waking up..and I asked them to get dressed...

Yup..we did not want to be late, right?

As we went out of the ship, wow..I didn't know that we could actually just go to the observation deck from where we could see the sun rise...just like what those people did^^ Okay, we decided to do it on our second morning @ Sun Cruise.

So, we ventured out to the famous sea cliff from where we could spot the sun rise.

Yup..the sun's peeping out of the clouds...

And...let's take a moment, first, kids.

We decided to take the steep steps down...onto the cliff gearing towards the open sea...

Along the way..of course...we did not want to miss the ever glowing sun rise.

Hmm..nice try, Mama.

The camera did not do any justice to the sheer enigma we felt that morning.

But..it was a good morning, indeed...^^

Sun Cruise Trip (day 2)

The room is big enough for us, esp. ..for the kids who just could not stay still even after a tiring day of walking and rail~biking!

The room with spectacular view is a like a dream came true. Well...just like what I expected, the beach is visible from our huge window.

So huge that we could see the long stretch of beaches down under...

and it became our favorite spot for taking pictures.

Even...Eyra felt so happy that she even wrote "something" on a tissue paper....^^

Sun Cruise Resort (part 2)

An evening sport! @ Sun Cruise Resort. It was a great night out and as they say "the night's still young"...so we did not want to waste the time....staying in the room, but we went out to explore the surrounding.

After having our dinner, we ventured out to view the whole ship at night from afar.

Could not find a better way to capture night portrait...than by using the flashlight on....otherwise we would only see the silhouetted version of us^^

Monopod helped us take pictures....though of course...it did not always turn out fine. BUt...this would do.

The observation deck at the 10th floor looked so inviting. With the revolving restaurant that comes with it, it must be a good way to enjoy the whole view....hmm..shall we try go there tomorrow?

* and we DID.^^

6-Hour Trip Enroute to Sun Cruise Resort!

Freya kept asking, "Are we there, yet???" Yup..the 6-hour trip to Jongdongjin beach where the Sun Cruise is located really got her nerve^^ Well, it was a good thing that we could enjoy our time by admiring the snow-clad mountains and the frozen creeks along the way.

As for Freya, she finally calmed herself by drawing some pictures. One of them was about the train trip itself. She did enjoy it eventually.

She's absorbed in her own world....

we're lucky to see them...know what they needed to do. They behaved well during the 6 hour trip.

One of the things that got them interested was GPS tracker to let us know where we were.

As for me, I would not let this chance of scanning through Korea's eastern part in winter. The 6-hour train really gave me another different perspective of how beautiful the landscape was....even when they looked barren in snow.

The best view in my opinion.

I could see the landscape filled with mountains and villages in between....some highways beyond...and most of all...the cloudy afternoon with a bleak of sunshine ..peeping out over the hills beyond.

Or...the snow covered houses that we passed through...

a complete soothing experience....and a feast for the eyes...

Finally...at about 5 pm...we were approaching the East Coast and from the within the warmth and comfort of the train...we could see the coast along the way.....leading to...~~~~~~
