A Heart-Shaped Hole in the Potato Chip

I just bought a box of potato chips.....

when..I glanced a bizarre yet....unique shape ...so familiar.....ㅋㅋㅋ

I was actually on the escalator...on my way home...when I couldn't contain my excitement of finding this heart-shape hole!!!

It's trivial, really. nothing special maybe..but for me..it did make my afternoon. It put a smile on my face...since I thought of it as something unusually too good to be true.

hmm..I loved it till I found it..too nice to crunch....

but I ended up eating it eventually.

Seoul and Train Tracks

From the 8th floor of Cheongnyangni station. I was dragging myself...literally speaking haha...to make me see what it would look like from above...the train tracks I pass on a daily basis.

I mean...yup...these are the rail tracks that he subway I ride everyday pass on by.(??)

It doesn't look that much....simply a barren-looking lines of tracks....well.for some maybe...

but..for my weary eyes...that needed something to see....

...finding this spot...and take a moment to see what's beneath...was a truly 'okay' time for me who needed something to distract myself from routine daily commuting.

It just so happened..that a red train passing me by...under...

again..an empty tracks in winter....oh, no...it's not empty..there's one subway...on the left side.

A blue sky really beautified the scenery. Indeed, had the skies not been blue, I wouldn't have dared myself ....going outside onto the 8th floor to enjoy the moment.

A Trip and All in Daegu

A meeting in Daegu..with most of our fellow members.

A short trip to Water Conservation Museum.

Two different worlds.

One solitary man enjoying the display.

Five lost boys drown in phones.

 

Six aloof members....

..who seemed to be drawn into the world

...of phones.

Walking away from the museum....trying to grab taxis.

...with no luck.

Until we made a phone call.

Our membership pins.

On the bus...towards YU.

...preparing for the meeting 

...group photo session.

On-board Daegu-bound KTX.

Oops..it's different from the ones we have in Seoul.

A token I'd love to keep...but forgot to.

...on the subway. Gone to dreamland.

....the reason I couldn't keep the subway token!

It turned out that we should insert it into the slot to get out of the platform!!^^ 

So much for my plan of keeping it to myselfㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

Going퇴근타임Home

Habis magriban, matiin komputer, lompat deh pulang. 보통 4시정도 퇴근할 수 있는데 오늘은 특별한 케이스이네. But..the fun part was that I could enjoy the night view around the subway station. Silly, eh?

I didn't know that it could be this dark. I guess I forgot that it's autumn already.

Akhirnya kusempetin moto IFC Mall...tempat nongkrong en nonton film terrrdekeeet dari kantor. Hmm..actually I want to see the premiere of Robert Zemeckis' The Walk in IMAX 3D today. 근데...내일 발표가 있어가지고...못하죠!

Ok...saatnya turun ke dlm.stasiun jalur 9 yg 2 × seminggu bolak-balik kulewati. 

아...밤엔 이렇게 생겼구나. Oops...just when I clicked the camera...someone passed me by.

My feet....by the phone cam. *iseng tingkat dewa* 넘 신기하게  ...신나게 ...퇴근타임을 보냄.

9호선은 제가 제일 좋아하는 노선이다.

Memang jalur 9 ini mmg top bgt....paling gress en fresh. What's more?.there's Watsons inside..^~^

More steps....to go....and...there I was...

왓선에 가서 과자를 샀다.

Lapeeeeeeer bingit.

What I like about Watsons is its endless sales everyday.  There's always something I could buy in a relatively and comparatively cheaaaaap price.

Just finished teaching our class on Sunday, 5th Oct. 2014.

Another great day spent at Indonesia Open University, Korea Campus. ^^

Yes...each Sunday, we rent some rooms to teach Indonesian migrant workers at Hanyang University, Erica Campus.

The sky's again and again..bright blue. 

We're waiting for the shuttle bus (see the picture?) that would take us from campus to Hanyang University Subway Station--located about 15-minute bus ride.

See? that's thing: 한대앞역이란 역이름이 지여진 이유가 뭔지  궁금하네^^

보통 뭐 뭐 뭐 앞 이란 말은 바로 그 뭐뭐뭐앞에 존재한다는 것이 아닐까?

근데... 재미있는건...한대앞역은.....멀리 떨어져 있다는 사실을 알게 되자...와 대단하다.

아니..신기하네요.

다행이 이러한 셔틀버스가 마련해 줘서 ....고맙기는요.

Hmm..Something's Not Right

Or...am I the one who may not understand this?

I mean...how come that the signboard tells us 'The ....train IS ARRIVED.

"is arrived"???

Isn't it supposed to be either 'HAS arrived' or' is ARRIVING'???

Guess...the Seoul subway authority, especially the 6,7,8,9 line..should change this minor(?) error. IF...that IS an error. 

I could be wrong, though..er...could there be some other meanings behind this seemingly grammatical error??!!

Hmm....

the train is arrived!!! (oh, well). I'm not a native speaker of English, either.

Being Different is beautiful...

Yes..it's a public service advertisement endorsing Korean society's (seemingly existent) pressure on women/girls to have an 'artificial' look by way of plastic surgery. 

This ad would not have been existent in the first place, HAD the social problem as it postulated NOT BEEN there in the first place, right?

Okay..let me jot down what it says. For those who may not understand Korean language, I'll try to translate the sentences. Hope I translate them correctly.^^ gee....

V -- 똑 떨어지는 V라인 'the exact V-line figure'

342434 Bust.Waist. Hip. 

S --- 완벽한 S라인 'perfect S-line'

세상은 나에게 똑같은 몸매, 똑같은 얼굴를 가지라고 하지만 난 그렇게 되고 싶지 않아

Although the world told me to have similar facial and physical figure, I don't want to do that

because that is not me. Instead, it is a standard that others put upon me.

The way I look as of now is my real looks...the only one in the world.

It's alright to be what we are now. Me and You.  

And I was glad to find out that this public service ad was created by an organization calle Korean women link.

Oh...I also love the copywriter of this ad made it in such a witty way that would give it a plus. At least for me.

다르니까 아름답다

The sentence literally means 'since it's different, then it's beautiful'. 

But the ad wittily emphasizes the syllable 다 in the word 다르(다). 

You see, 다르다  actually means 'different'

but, if you just take the 다, then it means 'ALL'

thus..here it is....ONE simple sentence WITTILY means two things:

(1) 다르니까 아름답다 'different, so it is beautiful'

(2) 다 아름답다 'ALL is beautiful'

I couldn't agree more.^^ 

The bar code that characterizes this simple ad on subways is what caught my attention in the first place. Now I see it on a daily basis on my way to and from school. 

I guess...although this ad is in Korea, I think it is applicable to all women in other society as well. I think. 

AND....I APPLIES to men as well.

I think society also sort of 'forces' men to act or look like what they want them to be...

If only we put our time to ponder again the very idea of why we are created different.

..that ALL is beautiful.

..that being different is beautiful as well.

That's my rant...

Wicked: The Musical

Musical: The Wicked is coming to Seoul.

The posters and ads on it pop up in every place imaginable. 

The one I bumped into..was at Youido station, line 9. The Wizard of Oz-related musical...is captivating the eyes and attention of passengers. 

even in one station, there are three different posters about this Wicked witch.

I got to admit that Korea (Seoul and other big cities) enjoy the privilege of being able to get exposed to major Broadway productions: either the works are in Korean or in their original cast (by inviting the casts from Broadway NY).

But...either way..it's a sign that Broadway-like business is a lucrative goldmine in Korea.
