Penguin of Madagascar (2014)

December 31, the date of the release of Dreamworks' Madagascar's Penguin the movie.

Since we're not planning of going out of town to celebrate the New Year's Eve..what better way to celebrate it than....taking the kids to see the movie.

After all, I finished working earlier..and it's not far from the office..so I might as well meet up with the kids @ IFC Mall's CGV where the Penguins got its release.

More stuffs to look at....than to buy^^ 

It was a good decision to take them see this. And..good thing was that..we got this subtitled one, not the dubbed one. Well, it means..I don't have to take them twice to see the movie.^^ 

Then...as we finished watching the movie..we had something to eat while...they could not let their eyes off the playing ground.. 

The X-mas atmosphere still lingered on at the main atrium of IFC.

and ...it began with a pack of Penguins. 

Disney Characters on Display @ CGV (part 3)

Last but not least, it's Frozen's famous characters, Kristoff, Anna, Elsa, and of course, Olaf--the snowman. Though they're just plainly pinned-up life-size paper, they're surely a major attractions for the kids and adults-alike. 

Eyra's been head over heels over Elsa from 'Frozen' that as soon as she saw them, she insisted that she took the picture with them by squeezing her face right onto the perfectly cut hole that would fit a face for a make-believe picture like the one above.

*gee, I was holding her up from behind this picture so as to let her fit into the 'hole' 

Continued on about the Disney characters at CGV Art Gallery, Eyra finally met with Minnie. These ones, too, were actually a pinned-up life-size characters. With a perfect angle, it would've been a three-dimensional picture..but I wonder if this one would do fine ..for the trick. 

At least, Eyra could go hand in hand with them. Right, Eyra?

We're NOT Supposed to...

POSE here...let alone...climbing up on it and take a picture of ourselves. But, for the kids, these CGV letters were seen like a BIG characters to play with. Oh, well...just go and let me take the pictures, girls. 

and..me, too. I'd love to be there with you, kids. Oh, Freya...you really fit well into the C!!! 

And ...while Eyra was almost perfectly fitted into the C, Freya, on the other hand, had the most playful pose of them all. She asked me to put her into the G and posed with that. Okay...quick--quick...before someone asked us not to take a picture here!! 

*Oh, My....* they're not done, yet. They seemed to be enjoying their time while me on the other hand..had to deal with my own predicament of being in the situation where some people were watching us. But, oh, well.... 

CGV set up these BIG letters for us to enjoy, right? 

Had they prohibited its visitors from climbing up the letters, they'd have posted some notice, right^^

ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ I'm trying to find some affirmation of what the kids'd been doing...

The Grand Budapest Hotel

Yeaach, finally I did it. I managed to WATCH it. Although it'd been shown for a couple of weeks at the theaters...I didn't have a chance to see it...not that I didn't have time..but...other movies kind of blocked my way of seeing it.^^ The Amazing Spiderman 2, Mr. Peabody, Rio 2, Captain America...etc...got in the way of my move every time I was thinking of seeing this turned-out to be an eye-popping experience in feel-good way. 

그랜드 부다페스트 호텔  (The Grand Budapest Hotel) is not  a thought-provoking movie that would make us 'WOW' in the sense that we've never seen anything like this, instead, it is another movie that would make us (me, at least) go back to all the genre of movies we'd seen before. IAll of the genres and thrills of 'great movie' all go back and forth and accumulate into our brains..in the way..that wait..I think I'd seen this, I'd thought of that...but..boy...this movie ..at the same time feels like it is totally DIFFERENTLY unique. 

and indeed, it is. 

I loved the way the movie uses the style of ' a story within a story within a story......that would right from the beginning asks for our preparedness to keep on watching and listening attentively to the very intricate details shown on every corner of the screen... 

Gosh...I just could not believe that it was all a make-belief world set in the seemingly like what Europe was like at the turn of the 20th century.  

And looking into the casts (gee..what a cast it was)...the movie must've taken a lot of fund to make. But..all I could say is that this British-German movie is one of the must-see movie this year. 

At least....you'll be blown away by the sheer contrasting colors that brings the story layer by layer.

Comedy? Yes. Thriller? Somewhat Yes. Drama? Oh, well..Yes, too. Adventure? You Bet. Horror? Hmm....a bit. (not too much). 

all in all..it's a splendidly crafted movie for movie lovers to experience.

Gee....May really zapped my wallet into the the hand of cinematic power of which I am powerless ...or let myself be numb by its sheer prowess.

Based on the released trailers on the internet, I got a feeling that it'll be big.

Just couldn't get this straight out of my head..

as to why some people (like me) easily fall a prey..into something BIG like this.

Big...literally...and big...in consuming up our money:)

But, judging from the B-roll on the net, I could guarantee that I'd enjoy

the special effects more than what-s-up for the story line, coz no one

has ever known how its gonna end.

so, the predict"?? must-see to shoo away my curiosity, at least.

Flocking to Watch Rio 2!!!

It's weekend and coincidentally it's also a golden weekend in Korea since we're celebrating 4-day holiday literally--> weekend+ Children Day and Buddha's Birthday. We took the kids to the cinema to watch the anticipated (by the kids, at least:) Rio 2. 

Two flocks of families on the go. 

I didn't know why most of the Rio 2 movies are dubbed. We almost gave up finding the non-dubbed alias the original version Rio 2. The thing was that...most of the ones screened at CGV and Lotte Cinema were dubbed. Luckily we managed to find one being screened at Megabox at Coex!!! yes..it's far from home..but that's worth-it. 

We could've just watched the Korean-version had we not gone with another flock of friends who preferred the original ones. *which only one thing for my kids: we GOT to see the Rio 2 for the 2nd time in Korean!!ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

Now..back in the car. We just 'put' the kids at the back seat since there were nine of us. Well, they enjoyed having the time together.

What would be going to the movies without some popcorn??? Well, of course it's not necessary..but we found it useful to 'tame' the hyperactive kids excited of watching the movie. And...we're waiting for about 10 minutes before the show began. 

Ghaizan..our friend's little youngest son was sitting on the floor...seemed to be unobstructed by his surrounding. He kept the whole large popcorn to himself.ㅋㅋㅋ 

I managed to book the tickets online so as to avoid queuing and ...any worries of any ticket's unavailability.  

Eyra and her sister, Freya were sitting right next to each other. Oh, we found that the 3D glasses for the kids @ Megabox was somewhat different from the ones we usually had at CGV & Lotte.  

Oh, we had a commotion right before the movie started since most of the kids wanted to be sitting next to each other which was quite impossible since I didn't anticipate that. 

All in all, we found the Rio 2 to be quite too-much subplots that some kids may find it hard to chew and discern...but for all the clarity of colorful extravaganza that our eyes can be transported into....it's marvelously carried out. 

Mr Peabody: 천재 강아지

It was the last minute decision to take the kids to the cinema and introduce them to what once I saw when it was (still) 2-D animation back then. Yep, this is Mr. Peabody and Sherman. Since my kids didn't have no idea as to what they're about to see...I might as well inform them about their histories...oh pleaaaaaasseee...^^

ok..long story SHORT: the kids loved it. 

What better way to 'secure' the memories of this briskly crisp animation.

One cup of huge popcorn and the characters-adorned beverage....turned out to --as expected--be more expensive than the tickets themselves:) figuratively speaking.

A reminder that we saw the movie in Korean. yup, it's dubbed into Korean and..boy ..oh boy..it just delivered. ^^

Mr. Peabody and Sherman is still on theater when I blogged about it. The self-ticketing machine that keeps on blasting out the images of Sherman and Mr. Peabody. 

Now, Mr. Peabody and Sherman are officially on the rack of other small knick-knack we collect to decorate the table.

#Aha Moment: What a Huge Poster It Was.

Was walking out of the cinema after the screening of Captain America: The Winter Soldier... 

and encountered this huge poster of 캡틴 아메리카 hung on the lift-hole of IFC Mall. 

Yes, Korea was one of the major markets outside US for wide release of Hollywood movies. I didn't know why..but I guess..it's simply because of the big market share that this country has for foreign movies, esp. those of Hollywood. 

#aha moment.

Absorbed into 'Gravity' (....Again!)

Is it that good that I watched it again???

A BIG ROUND "YES"

I might've been crazy to go to the theater again to watch 'Gravity' for the 2nd time.

This time, I didn't need to watch it in 3D or in IMAX for that would've cost me:-)

so, instead...I just had my free morning time, after all, all movies before 12 noon cost only a mere 5,000 Won. 

So...there I sat again in the H-seat, only 4 rows away from the screen...so as to make me close enough to 'experience' and let myself plunge and get absorbed into the 'space'.

* Even for my second time of drifting myself into the space, I was still spell-bound and dumbfounded by the sheer magnitude of the movie magic.

I was still squirming and barely able to catch my breath.

I guess it's one of the visually stunning movies I've seen in a year.

I am soooo in love with the Looooooong Shots of the movie. 

It feels like the camera and the whole crew of the movie really went up to space to film this masterpiece:-)

For anyone who's seen it, just go grab the ticket and see it for yourself.

It doesn't need to go and jump ourselves into the future to 'experience' the space odyssey, it turns out that...we could be wow-ed and awed by the breathlessly endearing yet terrifying space right above our Mother Earth.

Thor & Gravity: worth-to-wait movies? Looks to be so..

Got a chance to see 'Rush' @ CGV Youido. and I was passing through an ad about the coming movie: THOR. If I got it correctly, Korea would be ahead of other countries in premiering THOR: The Dark World. hmmm..I wonder what would the catch be..for having it premiered right here in Korea, first? 

and..I think it looks like it is being serious. Judging from the huge poster of THOR dropped down at the main atrium of IFC Mall @ Youido, I guess...it's gonna be so.

so, seen from the trailer- I think I may have to watch it.:-)

Then...I was going out of the theater where I watched 'RUSH' only to find that another coming-soon movie (in Korea): the much-talked-about Gravity is about to hit IMAX 3D in Korea.

what about this one?

I have to make sure that I am in it when it's premiering in Korea.

Minion!!! Are we?

We did watch Minions a few days ago...

but the fun kept lingering on...

I think it's one of the characters that made the kids say 'whaaaattt!!!'

Oh, no...what in the world are we mimicking....

along with Seonhee. We met @ Yongsan CGV.

Finally we watched 'Habibie & Ainun' (me and my wife...)

while...Seonhee was taking care of our daughters.
