Yes..it's been 2 years since Freya got enrolled at a Korean Government sponsored Kindergarten.

And..the time has come for the final show of kids' achievement or fun during the 2-year school year.

This is a video showing Freya and her friends' performance.

What a great night indeed.

I was not able to attend the whole procession since I was in Indonesia back then. 

But..judging from the pictures and the video...boy oh boy...^^ 

They sure did have a great time.

I think the teachers did a great job of .......training patiently...^^ all of these cute little kids.. 

But...hey..the kids themselves do have some talents...^^ 

The best part of it all..is the fact that they learned a great deal of having to collaborate with others. 

The perfect harmony...

and the efforts put into it..is enormously beautiful.

The Palace's Closed, But...Let's Take A Peep...

Freya's Historical Day Out!!

What a day. The sky's blue. Not a single cloud visible.

but.... Gyeongbuk Palace was CLOSED!!! 

we were about to explore the palace only to find that the palace was closed!!!

so..to make up for it...we just circled the palace around...and  took some pictures. 

Luckily..Freya was still as cheerful as she was ... 

even...when I told her that the palace was closed!!!

which turned out to be quite far..and we got to walk around the walled palace..... 

until we reached the closed gate of Gwanghwamun. Yes, the palace WAS officially closed..on the day we went there.

자꾸 자꾸 화 Just like Freya...^^

 

On a weekly basis, on Mondays, Freya has a chance to borrow books and makes a report on it. Surely, all the books are in Korean.^^ Well, she reads, speaks, and writes in Korean now.  Last week, she borrowed a book '자꾸자꾸 화' a story about a kid who always gets angry whenever things get wrong or in several other occasions...just like Freya (usually) does. She finds herself in the book. ㅋㅋㅋ

That's why she really loves it. 

She did learn something from the book. Now that she knows how her frowned face could trigger an endless chain of events as depicted in the book...she now changed a bit. At least...she now tries to control her emotion. 

And another book ...ooops..the picture.

Anyway...books really help kids to learn, especially if they could discern (with the help of parents, of course) about the literal or even implicit messages out of the story.

Simple Presents for Freya

Simple, and inexpensive ones. Yes, I got to think hard to find some presents on Freya's 6th or 7th birthday. Okay...I found 'treasures: the huge inflatable whale for 8,000 Won; the make-and-display managerie for a mere 6,000 Won, then two mini fans for 2,000 Won, some balloons, and ...^^ Pororo's juice.  

Wrapped them up on the spot. So, although it was basically Freya's birthday, I couldn't just buy one...I got to buy a pair of them...>>** for Freya's sister. gee... 

Ok..in total...around 20 dollars well spent on Freya's birthday presents. Since the presents are shared with her sister...I guess..it's worth-it. And..yes...it's affordable. 

The best part of it all is how I could think of something creative to let her know that it's how her birthday is celebrated. 

So...here it is.

Cloned Myself Again

We were having a bliss @ Apgujeong, a district in Southern Seoul. Though it's a bit warmer than the previous day, still it's winter. After having a buffet bliss, we thought it'd be cool to sit down at the front yard of the restaurant. But..then we thought that it'd be much cooler if I could just clone myself again. 

Eyra and Freya loved it that I could be twins though for a while.

This has been another 'OMG' moment again for us.

A New Year's Eve Letter from Freya:-)

Finally, the Google Doodle that Freya had been waiting for finally changed its shape. The number 3 is now retiring and he looks to be out of breath from one-year job of dancing and prancing around. ^^. 

Can't imagine what number 1, 0, or even 2 feel!!! 

okay..this is what Freya drew. She was busy right before midnight...drawing this picture. Hmm..I didn't quite catch what she meant as she explained it all along. But...she did a great job of well..describing that each of us has our own room.  

And...I wonder what's the adjacent picture telling about. Anyway, I was amazed that she drew that and wrote the hangeul by herself. 

She even wrote this. Well, it's simple but...for a 5-year old who never gets exposed to formal learning of hangeul...she's kinda cool.

Let's Go To School, Freya!

It's winter and snowing. But, it did not mean that Freya was not going to school. In fact, she'd kind of expected or wait...insisted of going especially when the snow just whitened the whole neighborhood. 

With temperature below 0 degree Celsius, she was still as enthusiastic as she was on any other day;-). In fact, she loved making footsteps on the snow--which she described as making crispy sound on the snow. 

Luckily, we wrapped her in bright colorful outfit so as to give a contrasting picture. Otherwise, she'd be lost in the snow. Being a kid turned out to be having its own advantage of not having to worry of what to wear or  to think of what others might think of what we wear. :-) oh, well... 

It was taken on the deserted rail-track just at the back of our apartment.

So, this is your third winter in Korea, right, Freya?

Freya's Rendition of 'Weird'-NEss

Now matter how hard I tried to seduce her to make 'pretty'face for the camera, it did NOT work. Never, usually. 

She knows her own style of 'posing' in front of the camera.

She just does not want to be in the same pose as she did, she does. She knows what she wants.

Or...she's so stubbornly resisting whatever I ask her to.

NEver Knows, but that might be the case. 

I clicked and clicked the button and still she never wanted to make 'pretty' faces that I hoped she would have.

Oh, well... 

Sometimes I wonder where she learned all of these expressions.

I bet she never saw any zombie-movie of that kind of stuffs...but, oh well..

she just stuck her tongue out and lifted her arms mimicking zombie sounds...

.. 

and then..a minute later..she was just plainly making a rather-sad-looking face.

or at least..she's trying to. 

or acted out as if she's surprised at something.

BUT, honey....

it turned out that you're cute and funny when you did all of those 'weirdness':)
