First Day in Kediri

Meeting my nephew, Barra, and niece, Lala. Oh, boy...Barra is so adorable.
Even..today he keeps on telling me that he misses me.^^ oh, so sweeet.
call him once a week, though.
Then, the very next morning I was home...Daddy cooked his signature dish: nasi goreng.
Yes..only he can make this nasi goreng. I cannot describe how it tastes, for sure.
But..gosh..it's really one of the things that makes me miss home.
Bapak and Ibu, Dad and my Mom, cooking together in the kitchen.
Yes...I love the way they always share things together...
I love you, Dad, Mom. ^^
Seeing you again this year...2015. Amin.

Bakmi & Nasi Goreng Pak Pele

For most Jogjakartans, Pak Pele is not unfamiliar. In fact, Pak Pele is a trademark for nasi goreng (fried fried)--the traditional fried rice prepared on a traditional stoves as seen on the picture below.
The fried rice is prepared by using charcoal, instead of modern-day cooking utensil--and this is the recipe that's been handed down for years. And..I think this is what makes this fried rice its authentic taste and flavor--unchallenged by any other standard.
Located at the northern city square right next to the Sultanate Palace, this banner may look like so oddly shaped and outdated that...first timers would be easily turned off by the fact that 'Pak Pele' is simply a street vendor!!!
But..boy oh boy...the taste of Pak Pele's signature nasi goreng (fried rice) never fails to impress me. ^^
Bye Bye, Yogyakarta...till we meet again. I do hope that you're recovering soon after being showered by the volcanic ash from Kelud Volcano for the past few days.
Be strong!!!

Nasi Goreng Kediri (Fried Rice ala Kediri)

What's the fuzz about it? I mean..I knew this street-side vendor even when I was back in my junior high year. So..it was more than 20 years ago...but boy..the atmosphere and the way they prepare the fried rice does not change a bit.
They're still using a wooden charcoal instead of gas or any electric appliances to prepare the food. Yes, we went to Mbah Man or Bu Pur's nasi goreng.
It's located at Jalan Stasiun ..which means Station street where the city main railway station is located. This nasi goreng vendor seems to be 'preserved' in time.
As soon as I stepped to take a seat, I could smell the used-to-be so familiar smell and flavor..and atmosphere...
One cook with 3 assistants. The main cook (the owner) prepares all ingredients while his assistants stir, fry, and garnish the fried rice before being presented in its simple presentation.
DA..DA.....aaaa...--->
It just look plainly simple without any additional servings. Wait...some cucumber pickles do 'ignite' the flavor. Even the rice and all of other ingredients seem to be perfectly mixed and blended into one famous Nasi Goreng Kediri.
Apa pun makannya, minumnya Teh Botol Sosro. Yes...Sosro Tea is an indispensable beverage that accompanies most Indonesian ( not all ) in enjoying the food.
My Mom and her grandchildren....that means..my daughters....were enjoying their food.
*the downside: we got to wait for almost 45 minutes before even granted with what we've been missing^^
Alhamdulillah..we could taste what the fuzz bout nasi goreng.
