Wandering in Downtown Seoul ..part 1

Millennium Tower at Jongno intersection....is the unmistakable landmark in the area.

I was having my alien card extended at the near3st immigration office.

...so to kill the time while waiting for my turn....

What's not to like about wandering around the neighborhood???

...and bumped into this landmark tower.

Had a chance to takea closer look and got some shots from below.

Then...about 400 meters away....I arrived at Tapgol.Park...and found this glassed architecture.

Inside is a 10-story stone pagoda....!

Called...Wongaksa. hope I'm not mistaken...built in the 14.....!

Then....back to the Millennium Tower....and got back to the immigration office.

Gwanghwamun Square

A walk through the Gwanghwamun Square in the evening of the first week of October. 

the crowd, the cars lining up, the office buildings, the colorfully vibrant downtown... 

Lee Sun Shin statue, taxi, crowd, the reflected evening sunlight on the buildings, the blue sky....the sight, smell, sound of downtown Seoul.

Gwanghwamun @ Night

Saturday Night. Where to go? We heard that there would be some festival in Gwanghawamun area so we were headed to that area. It turned out that the festival was held until afternoon so as we did not see anything but the empty tents. To compensate what we'd missed, we might as well enjoy what Gwanghwamun had to offer for its visitors. At night it looked so bright and especially the main plaza where the statue of Admiral Yi Sun Si located. The fountain with its colorful lights emitted  from within was the solely soothing attraction in the area. 

The kids loved it. We could just sit on the benches and watched the fountain as it played its charms. But, it was a bit chilly for us to just stay and remain there at an open air.
