The girls @ Lotte World again

While I was away in Indonesia with my second daughter, Eyra (my first daughter) went out to have fun with her eonni, Min Seonhee, to Lotte World. The funny thing was that....they went out on the same day I flew out of Korea last month. 

I guess Eyra insisted that she must go somewhere to compensate for her not being able to go with me to Indonesia. Well, that's reasonable. She deserved to have something fun to do; for her sister, Freya, was also having a good time going back to Indonesia, then. 

I could see in her eyes ( you are NOT sleepy, right, honey?) that she did enjoy the trip. What a bright color in the background lashed out into her coincidentally bright and multi-layered sweater she's wearing. A perfect combination to get lost. 

Her Mom, too, was also having a good time, apparently.^^ 

No hair-raising rides for the kids, just a carousel or something like that. At least, she did have a moment to remember. 

Oh, just when I thought that taking her to Lotte World would be more than enough to compensate for ****, she asked another thing......A Lotte-World mascot, Lotty and Lorry dolls. ( I don't know which one which..that she's holding).*,*

The Atlantis @ Lotte World

THis has been a presentation from the Atlantis Adventure at Lotte World. Loved the ride. One of the best rides at Lotte World. Well, the video does not show much of it. Just some parts of what we could get once we get on the ride. Lots of fun indeed. To top it off, we were on in in the midst of chilling late winter or early spring.
* The video was taken while waiting for about an hour just to get on it. ^^

Lotte World part 11

I stayed up until around 9 pm at Lotte World. Well, I might as well spend the night there. of course nope. I just wanted to make the best out of it. Our university gave us a free ticket that we could use until the theme park closed at around 10 pm. But, I was so helplessly tired of screaming, waiting in line, standing, running, and of course....squuuuueeezzziiing  and squirming myself in jittery of riding the rides. So, at about 9 I was going back home. 

But, before that....I took some shots of the night view inside the Lotte World Theme Park. Some people were still visibly skating on the ice rink below. Far on the right, a Peter Pan cabaret show was on its way. The brightly lighting and a dazzling show of hi-tech show boosted the image of its nightly show--a tauntingly Mask Festival during Spring time only.

 Then...a light studded balloon was seen flying or hanging over the roof. The windmill was also colorfully lightened up that surely boosted the night atmosphere inside the park. who wouldn't want to be pampered with hassle-free world like that?

I got already posted the first two pictures in m previous entry. So, I just put the thumbnail size of them. But, for the new pictures below: 

They were taken when we were about to enter the Magic Island. We took the pics right on this very spot since it said that this was the best place to take picture. Is it? Well, depend on where you see it, though. Anyhow...it was a well-spent afternoon.

 The whole class (no...two were missing). Let's see: since I was the one who took the pic. I was then..invisible. But, from left: Kou Chuanqi, Marta, Li Xinyang, Ayumi, Lie Jie, Wu Liulin, and Ms. Lee Yong Ju--our sonsaengnim).

Lotte World part 7

Venice.......or is it?
then, what about these two women had in common...?

 Then.....famous expressionist painting of "The Scream" by Edvard Much.
But...the funny part was that.....a person in the painting was screaming because the painting itself was burning .....to one's dismay....by a candle! ^^ a funny way of expressing what might arouse people to smile, instead of screaming.^^

 I did not know whether this cheeky yet eye-catching painting exhibition is a permanent show inside the Lotte World or just a contemporary art show. One thing for sure, for any visitors entering the theme park from the 2nd floor will be --without fail --greeted by the arrays of these paintings. At first glance, they look just like those ordinary famous world-renowned paintings..but ...they were somewhat deliberately twisted in terms of their execution.

Lotte World part 6

Now comes the best part.

After almost 1 hour or so we were strolling or to be precise---wandering around in time inside the museum, we finally got ourselves inside the Lotte World indoor amusement park. We got there at around 4 pm just in time to get hooked ourselves into the mesmerizing world of fun and hysteria. ^^

To make it even more eventful, we planned in such a way  out of ordinary in a way that we just rode the most thrilling rides first. Good plan, for it turned out that lots of people were queuing  patiently...(some in whimper^^) to get into the ride. Even, we got ourselves stranded for about 1 hour just to take this so-called Atlantis roller coaster--the beast-est in the park.

Ok, another story, we got a photograph sessions right before entering the main atrium, though. Me, Marta Glowacka (a classmate from Poland) and Ayumi ( from Japan).

Then, of course, we got ourselves taken into the stillness of captured image in front of a huge poster (painting?) of what-seems-to-be African-style Paradise^^ (or so I named it)

That was the first and last time we ever got a group photo since as soon as we got ourselves into the midst of the theme park, we were somewhat or unexpectedly got lost or got separated in smaller groups. 

Ok, here are the atmosphere of the theme park at around 4.30 pm. not yet....many people being visible. But, wait till....we got outside of the world. (Yes, this indoor park is adjacently connected into the so-called Magic Island where the outdoor thrilling rides were awaiting for its visitors)

  I took a picture of an empty ice rink below. From the 3rd floor of the park, we could see the shimmering white and glassy ice rink that seemed to be longing for anyone to skate on it.

 When we got there, the afternoon parade just ended. TOoo bad, though. But, we did manage to get a  glimpse look at the characters of the park. Amusingly, most of them are foreigners. I do not know as to why most of them are foreigners who mostly come from Europe or America (I guess). They must be working or part-timing there. Well, whether it is to imitate the characters in US Disneyland or Orlando's Universal Studios...I'm not sure. Or it is to attract the curiosity and the palatable market for the locals and Asian alikes.....I dunno. But, I don't think it necessary, though. Well, for some characters...it might just work just fine.

 This was the spectacle I took when I was outside while waiting my turn to take on the Atlantis ride. The Lotte World indoor park and its adjacent hotel were visible. The bridge was the one that connected the indoor and the outdoor (Magic Island) rides.

 This is what I called the Giant Swing (I did not want to ride on it). And the Atlantis ride. A must-see for anyone visiting Lotte World. It was worth the wait. One HOUR of waiting !!!!! Gosh, we must've been so nut in the midst of chilling and windy weather that day.

 We also managed to take Pharaoh's Fury. Another not-that-scary or not-that thrilling ride but still...it was worth-it. I think I like the way the corridors leading us into the main ride were intricately decorated. One might mistake them for the real ones found on the tombs inside the pyramid. They looked real, though. So, the corridors out-won the ride itself.

Did I have a good time? NO. BUT, I did have a GREAT time. 

LOtte World part 5

A Wedding Ceremony (loot at the bright and colorful arrays of  shimmering vintages  as  seen in each doll or  people's dresses and attires. Some are simply plain yet elegant)

A Past Life where a family were having a daily routines in their life. ( I pretty much guessed it ) . The thatched roof typified the old rustic life back then among commoners in Joseon Dinasty.

I guess it was the time when some yangban or aristocrats lived up to their heydays. Some people  were singing and dancing. Look pretty much a simple yet charming life they must've had back then...

Mudang performing her duties. Oh they were all alive. I mean..the miniatures were full of songs and  so-called animatronic techies that we could pretty much imagine what it must've been like...

Outdoor activities for common folks in their holiday I guess. See what the  commotion back there?

The daily vintage of the heyday during Joseon Era. Oh, the hat that men wore were pretty much symbolized the  characteristics of the Era.

I think it was a traditional market. 

This one, too, I guess. The picture tells it all. Oh, did I mention that ....white  plain hanbok as  worn by most men did strikingly show up. Wonder if white was the hip color back then....

This one looks cool. Animal market., mostly....cows. Hmm....

Lotte World Part 4

  Let's see what I took this time. Still, I was inside the museum where Korea's past Dynasties / Kingdoms are displayed. I had the privilege to see the Queen Seondeok in one of the episodes during her reign. (gosh, I wish I'd known about it).

Well, we got a chance to take the moment.

Then, I got to see the royal attires and attributes of the past dignitaries or royal families. Interestingly, the patterns on their dresses or robes are similar to those of Batik. hmm...quite fascinating. 

Then there was this miniature of a Buddhist monk praying in front of Buddha. The best part of it was that...the miniature did move and echoed some chanting...that we could feel like seeing the real situation of what would a monk would normally do in his prayer. 

Lotte World KOrea part 3

  

Then I was transported back in time to get myself immersed into the miniatures of the glories delved in the hearts of Korea's past Kingdoms: Goguryo, Gaya, Shilla, and Joseon Dinasty. Gosh, I should have made some notes while taking the pictures. 

So, I got myself mixed up as to which one is Shilla and which one belongs to which Dinasty. 

Gosh...my mistake. They look the same, but they were not actually. When I was there I could see the difference but then.. I got myself overwhelmed by the sheer intricate designs of the miniature that...I forgot to take notes. Oh well, at least the pictures pretty much sum up the journey back in time that I took while visiting the museum of Korea's Past Dynasties.

Anyway, the museum trip did at least give me an insight into the Korea's glories and pride in each episode of its bygone Kingdoms. 

* Tip: When you visit this museum, better take note of the details, you will be surprised as to how intricate the minions (or how I called them) inside those miniature did tell stories through their visages. 

Lotte World LOtte World (part 2)

No...No...NO....it was not Lotte World. But...not that far off....:)^^ What???

Yup, it was taken at a diorama portraying the Neolithic era at Korean Peninsula. Pretty much the same as everywhere. Anyway....I was impressed by the diorama that I took several pictures of them. More on my other entries. The camera did not do any justice or flatter the real eerie-ness of the diorama, though. But, at least I did capture what I thought of being a token of memory......out of the museum. Looks like real, indeed.

After midterm, what could be much better than going to an amusement park for free? ^^
Yes, it was a program designed by our campus for all foreigners. On the very same day we took the midterm test, we went to Lotte World, one of the world's biggest indoor theme parks. OK, it's not my first time, but my...........let's see.....4th time I guess.
Ok, since we got a so-called AFTER 4 PM TICKET, we had no other choice but to make the best of the remaining time right until 4 pm. It was still 3 pm, so the school arranged a one-hour tour to Korean Folk Museum right beside Lotte World.
The picture was taken right at the very entrance to the museum. The map pretty much summed up of what we would probably encounter inside it. And...I was not that far off....
