On Rio 2 (Again)

I just realized that I promised Eyra to get her the Rio 2 merchandise ....only to find that they're sold-out. Hmm..*sigh* I wish I'd remembered making THE promise. Anyway...so it went like this..to compensate what I did I took her to the cinema (again) to let her decide if she wanted to see the movie (again). This time in Korean, of course.  

Well, at first she was so excited of having heard the idea of re-watching Rio 2.  

But then..she told me "Dad, it's okay. I don't need those stuffs." 

But, what about re-watching it? She said, " Nope, no need to, either"

*I was just like "oh..."

Bye-bye Rio 2. 

More on Rio 2 with Friends

Just want to post the pictures I took when we're at the Rio 2 screening at Megabox. Mas Khoirul and the kids. By this time next week, mas Khoirul's kids will have been in Indonesia. And that means...Eyra and Freya will have to wait a little longer to meet them again. Probably in Indonesia. 

So, this is ..I guess..going to be the last time they are together seeing movie in Korea. Hope that they'll meet again in Indonesia. Insyallah. 

As for my wife, she, too, has to say goodbye to mbak Dian, mas Khoirul's wife. Mbak Dian is sure to go home with the kids to Indonesia. And that means...these two chit-chat friends, both on-and-offline, will have to wait for another year(s) to meet again, probably, in Indonesia or in Korea again? ^^ insyallah. 

Rio 1: A Recollection of Memories for the Kids

It was May 5, Children's Day and no wonder that animation was the central theme of all-day long marathon at OCN channel. Eyra and Freya were excited to find out that one of their favorite movies--RIO--was about to be rerun on TV. They quickly reserved the slot time of the movie, for fear of missing it.

Blue and Jewel: the main characters of the movie got to undergone extraordinary experiences to build up what-was-going-be- one of the defining moment in their life. ^^ 

Gee..I treated the movie like it sounded to be a serious movie for adult-audience. Well,... 

Rafael, Nico, and Pedro...(gee I even remembered their names)^^ tried to make the best of their relationship with Blue and Jewel who are in search of their destiny..^^

Okay..these two guys are Linda & Tulio (the non-avian stars of the movie:) who play central role to the flow of the movie. 

What a wonderfully colored and palatable movie it is. 

Yep, What would Rio be without Rio Carnival as the backdrop of the pre-climax scene?

Still, on Rio Carnival: what an extravagance and a feast to the eyes..and they're simply animated. Imagine the real ones! 

Long story short: Blue and Jewel are able to reconcile their terms and they're happily united with Linda..and... 

of course, Tulio and..ooops who's the boy? ah...he's the one who snatched and then saved Blue and Jewel. that's it. Right, kids? 

The End..and began the end-title song... 

And a scene where Blue and Jewel were seen with three kids--:>which would be the basis jump onto the sequel (Rio 2).

Day and Dusk along Han River

yes...along Han River on our way to Coex to see Rio 2. We had a 5 pm show which meant only one thing: we got to leave home 1.5 hour earlier. 'Tis a beautiful day with bright sunshine along the way. As we're driving along the Han River, I couldn't help (like always) but taking my camera out and 'immortalize' the moment. Far beyond the under-construction Lotte Tower (would-be the tallest building --hence dubbed the tallest skyscraper of Seoul) is visible. 

Coex signage is visible which meant only one thing (again), it's time to cross the bridge and reach the Southern bank of the river (Gangnam area). 

In less than 5 minutes, we're approaching the main street of Gangnam (could be mistaken though) where the Coex and WTC were located--the place we're heading to). 

Since it's 퇴근시간 (gee what is it in English...:( !! ) anyway...we're stuck in a traffic. But, wait..it's Saturday and no one's working or supposed to be working..so it meant only one thing...people do flock to this area considering its fame.

We just finished watching the movie and since dusk was approaching,we rushed ourselves to get back home. And..snap!! The sunset over Seoul Tower (beyond) was breathtaking in reality...but...*ginger* ..^^ my camera could not do justice to the beauty of that Saturday evening.

Then,we're heading towards the lanes leading to the intersection that would take us home...with (again and again) the landmark of Seoul--The Seoul Tower--in its background. 

The twilight set in. 

Nothing so eerily beautiful like this. I mean..for a vampire* like me (?) whose main transportation is (underground+dark) subway....having a chance to snap a picture of twilight like this....was of course..a moment not to be missed.  

A sight to behold. (at least for me....for a vampire* like me). 

Hmm...okay. It's nice to change the way I see Seoul like this one.

*vampire: I consider myself as a vampire since I almost never see daylight on my daily routines due (thanks) to Seoul subway.^^

Flocking to Watch Rio 2!!!

It's weekend and coincidentally it's also a golden weekend in Korea since we're celebrating 4-day holiday literally--> weekend+ Children Day and Buddha's Birthday. We took the kids to the cinema to watch the anticipated (by the kids, at least:) Rio 2. 

Two flocks of families on the go. 

I didn't know why most of the Rio 2 movies are dubbed. We almost gave up finding the non-dubbed alias the original version Rio 2. The thing was that...most of the ones screened at CGV and Lotte Cinema were dubbed. Luckily we managed to find one being screened at Megabox at Coex!!! yes..it's far from home..but that's worth-it. 

We could've just watched the Korean-version had we not gone with another flock of friends who preferred the original ones. *which only one thing for my kids: we GOT to see the Rio 2 for the 2nd time in Korean!!ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

Now..back in the car. We just 'put' the kids at the back seat since there were nine of us. Well, they enjoyed having the time together.

What would be going to the movies without some popcorn??? Well, of course it's not necessary..but we found it useful to 'tame' the hyperactive kids excited of watching the movie. And...we're waiting for about 10 minutes before the show began. 

Ghaizan..our friend's little youngest son was sitting on the floor...seemed to be unobstructed by his surrounding. He kept the whole large popcorn to himself.ㅋㅋㅋ 

I managed to book the tickets online so as to avoid queuing and ...any worries of any ticket's unavailability.  

Eyra and her sister, Freya were sitting right next to each other. Oh, we found that the 3D glasses for the kids @ Megabox was somewhat different from the ones we usually had at CGV & Lotte.  

Oh, we had a commotion right before the movie started since most of the kids wanted to be sitting next to each other which was quite impossible since I didn't anticipate that. 

All in all, we found the Rio 2 to be quite too-much subplots that some kids may find it hard to chew and discern...but for all the clarity of colorful extravaganza that our eyes can be transported into....it's marvelously carried out. 

Rio 2 : 리오 2

리오 2 / Rio 2 is coming to town. Finally, the long-awaited sequel to what Eyra and Freya enjoyed around 3 years ago....is now on theaters starting today. 

It's Labor Day and some offices are off. And the Golden Week as some people call it..since it's gonna be a loooong holiday until Tuesday next week. So, we have time again to travel and see some new entertainment available in town. 

This week: Rio 2. Jewel and Blue, two of the main characters in the first movie are back to bring the kids to an adventure in the Amazon.  

The marketing gimmick is so vast and encapsulating that on flat TV on subways, on TV spot, on the internet....Rio 2 seems to be documenting and 'lurking' to shake young viewers (and adult-alike)'s mind and heart.
