We Made It: Our Book!!!

Thanks to Agus and Ozy ..and of course other friends..who had helped....preparing for the publication and the...laucnhing.

Yup..as many as 600 books were published ..not to mention the hundreds others back home in Indonesia.

I couldn't be more happier..to know that a lot of students participated in this.

Proud...and happy.

Thank you to all of our students at UT Korea for having made this endeavor ..possible and enjoyable.

We do hope that your stories ...are shared for generations to come.

Terbit Sudah...buku ke-9

Finally our 9th book on the series of Introduction to Korea.....has finally been published. INAKOS (International Association of Korean Studies in Indonesia) has been periodically published books on Korea for Indonesian readers.

It's obout the experiences of Indonesian students and fellow Koreans in exploring Korea. Thank you to all of our fellow contributors.

Phew....editing is a daunting task....it absorbed my energy....but ehen it's done...what a relief!

Strolling Along My Campus @ Jogja

But..first, I got to meet Coen, my brother-in-law's sister along with her children. She handed me three pairs of trousers that my wife ordered from her. *phew..what a trade.^^ I mean...Jogja-Seoul trade with direct sales like this..ㅋㅋ 

The next stop was ...to meet Loeloe at her office.

We're like...kids on the loose. 

Center for Asia Pacific Studies is where she's currently working. It's a small, yet nice building at Bulaksumur area inside the campus complex. 

Then..my next stop...was to greet mbak Santi at Center for Korean Studies...and this is the very road...hmm alley? where the Center is. I love the neighborhood. 

It's so calm and shady. 

The next stop....my college of Humanities... 

After meeting some people along the way, I was walking straight up to... 

the main road leading to the Main Building of our university. 

Yup..that's where I was going to since I got a meeting at 1 pm there. 

But..let's take a rest here first..on the first floor of south wing of the building where canopies and free wifi were available for anyone.

Got into the international office ...had some meetings...* done. ok..that's one of the pics I took. 

Meeting done! Another stroll into the stairs leading me up to the 3rd floor where I could see the open field in front of the main hall. 

or...well, like this. It's an old building designed by Mr. Soekarno..the first president of Indonesia. 

But...I love the simple yet strong characteristics of this building.

Visiting Pusat Studi Korea, INCULS, and Korean Dept.

Pusat Studi Korea or Center for Korean Studies, yup..that's where I was working before coming to Korea.

It's been such a great time to be able to be there again although for just a short visit. It looks like home, indeed...that's why it's homey. 

Mbak Santi, one of our staffs at the office. She's been very kindly attentive to the development of our office. 

One of the sections..a small portion of the office. Look at the old TV. what a huge ONE. ㅋㅋㅋ 

Then...my visit would not have been complete had I not visited INCULS (Indonesian culture and language service) where foreign students can learn Bahasa Indonesia. Ok...I went there to meet Dr. Supriyadi, the director of INCULS. He's been very kind and attentive as well to the development and the well-being of our Center. I brought him some oleh-oleh, gifts from Korea..as a token of my gratitude....

Good to know that he's healthy.  

Now..back to the Center. I met with Loeloe, my fellow researcher at the Center since 1996 when we're still undergraduate students.!!! 

We're wearing the KENDURI t-shirts. I brought it along from Korea. KENDURI t-shirt was the official t-shirt of ICC's anniversary. * ICC: Indonesian Community in Corea.

and..dada...back to INCULS, I bumped into my junior back then at English Dept. She's Nana..who's now a teacher  of bahasa Indonesia at INCULS.

* okay..see you in Korea this Autumn/ around October. Right, Nana? 

okay...one ...last but not least..is my visit to Dept. of Korean Language, Faculty of Humanities, Gadjah Mada University. 

I met with Tri Mastoyo 교수님 and Rio 선생님. and oh..Prof. Yang Seung Yoon, one of the visiting professors at the department.  

okay..all in all....my short-visit to Jogja was full of meetings with lots of people....

to talk about stuffs and stuffs..and stuffs...that has been stuffing my head prior coming to Jogja.

what are those? of course, they're secrets^^

The Then-Big Family of Pusat Studi Korea UGM

Yes, it was back then. All of us have gone separated ways now. Some still stay at the same office while most of us have gone either to other offices or like me and Seonhee...in Korea. And like Ms. Kang, she's in German now. well... 

I could not help but relieved to find this old pic back. It kinda brought me back to the memories I had at the office back home. 

Mr. Yuda, the guy in purple (the back row, the first guy on the left) is now the head of Korean Studies. 

Ms. Kang (the one on the left) is now in German. While ms. Loeloe (the one on the right) is still at the office as well as at the Pacific Asia Studies Center. 

Wachid (the green guy at the center) is now teaching at Korean Dept. back home. He graduated from Chulalongkorn Univ. Thailand and Seoul National University, Seoul. 

Ms. Seonhee (the white girl on the first row on the right) is now at the same university as I am now (HUFS) pursuing her Master Degree in Teaching Korean for Foreigners.  

The girl in red jilbab and hanbok is Dewi who is currently in charge of administrative affairs at the Center. and the woman right behind her is Ms. Novi, the former director of the Center for Korean Studies.
