Chuseok Fiesta @ Our Apartment (part 2)

It was really a feast to the eyes + to our tummy:-)

At first, I thought I wouldn't be able to yield myself or succumb myself into the seductive calling of this affluent food.

All kinds of cakes...and specialties from numerous countries... 

Let's take a family pose, first. 

and then..I invited my new colleague at KBS, Mr. Nugroho, who just arrived about 3 weeks earlier. I asked him to come down here so as to let him know what kind of communities we're living with. He liked it.

Then, it's Seonhee's turn to show up. 

The party's begun. Everyone's delighted. Apparently. 

The fluttering flags over the tent made it even more gleeful in the sense that what would an international Chuseok fiesta be without any symbol of our diverse backgrounds? 

So, thanks to the apartment manager who took the trouble of setting up all of these.

And for sure...lots of us couldn't resist the temptation from the I-didn't-know-what-that-was-but-it-was delicious cake. Simply delectable....:) 

Afternoon for kids during summer

It's already 8 pm and yet the sun is still shining. I overheard some 'commotion' at the parking lot. I knew it. Kids were playing around the parking lot in front of our apartment complex. Well, it's summer and they have more time to play around.

Eyra and Freya already makes friends in the neighborhood.

Although all of them are foreigners, they do not speak English. Of course, they speak Korean. 

Yes, all ( I think) foreign kids in our apartment complex know Korean and use Korean on daily basis. They go to Korean kindergarten, elementary school. So....it's an amazing sight for us, parents..who still find it hard to speak Korean.^^

Yes, English is NOT their international language, instead, it IS Korean language. 

At times I find it funny and surprisingly interesting to know this.

Well, it just shows or proves the fact that kids learn language (even foreign ones) at a much faster pace than adults do. 

Eyra & Freya makes friends already

It is spring and when the sun is shining and the temperature is not that cold, it is like...too good to stay indoor, especially for the kids. After we moved out to a new off-campus apartment, I am glad to know that the kids find it easy to interact with the new kids in the complex. 

Eyra & Freya makes friends pretty much more quickly than I'd thought before. Taking out her hoolahoop and her bike along, both Eyra and Freya went out to the parking lot in front of our housing complex. They made friends already. 

All of the kids here are either foreigners or multicultural kids since we live in a foreigners' apartment provided by the campus.  

It's amazing to learn that they communicate in Korean and English at the same time. They kind of mix the language to communicate with one another. The amazing fact about kids' adaptability and capability to absorb new language. or...kids' language is something that adults can learn.^^ 

Now we don't have to worry about them having a great time after school at home. More and more kids are making the best of their time while living and studying in Korea, too..along with their parents. 

*Love the fact that our new apartment have a parking lot where kids can at least...roam and do stuffs freely there...with minor concern..that when the cars are jammed parked...not many space left for the kids to hang around.* but...that's another story.

Moving in....(part 2)

Before moving into a new house, I checked about what it looked like on Daum.maps. And...it looks like an old apartment since the red-bricks layer on the surface of the building's wall are apparent. That't the first feature. But...it looks just nice. 

And the fact that the neighborhood is somewhat a new atmosphere for us...we are so excited. Moreover, other foreign students and faculty members live here, so I am sure that the facilities are just fine. Love the fact that it is clean. 

We are on the 2nd floor. Like it. What not to like, especially after living in a basement for more than a year in our previous "two-room". So, this is surely one of the too-good-to-be-true kind of excitement.

As soon as the university offered me to move into this apartment complex, I said "YES", well of course after some consideration. And that is: transportation expenses. 

We need to take subway that would take us around 20 minute (including transfer) from home to campus. That's more than tolerable.^^ The subway is just 2-minute away from where we live.

After all, the house is much much more spacious than the one we used to have before. 

And...the facilities are just ample. We got everything we need, for the universities provided everything for us, even the internet and cable TV. (It means... we do not have to extend the one we subscribed when we were still at Imundong). 

And...Eyra got her own room. That's something that she likes about. 

She just put all of her stuffs on her desk right away. Oh, see the Taegukki or Korean flag, there? She made it out of the color clay. She loves it. 

The good neighborhood, and a large parking lot (for the children, it means....large playground:) ^-^

Bismillahirrohmanirrohim...We are going to live in this apartment until I finish my study at HUFS. 

Bismillah hopefully in 2015. 

Thanks to HUFS and all the staffs at International Office for having given us a chance to stay here.
