A Short Video from Our Incheon Trip

This is short video I took as we ventured out @ Wolmido Amusement Park. This is Apollo Disco: The most sought-after ride in the park. It's so hilarious. What made it even more temptingly hilarious is the comments made by the DJ who blatantly and overtly made jokes and over-the-top ridiculous comments about the passengers taking the ride. He simply kept on picking on the passengers one by one until they blushed and lost control and forgot to get a grip on the handrail and fell off....^^ 

Even..just staring and watching at this ride is an experience in itself. 

Practically, it should be on everyone's must-do list when it comes to visiting this 'tiny'* amusement park. *not so tiny, actually.

The thing was that..we were drawn by the sheer sound of joyous 'ooh and aah' as well as the intermittently uproar of laughter ...

which turned out to be oozing out of this Apollo Disco ride.

More Stories from Incheon Trip

The pictures are for decorative purpose only. It has no relation to the stories I am jotting down here whatsoever.

It took us 2 hour from our home in Seoul to reach Incheon Port. We took the subway at around 12 and reached the city at 2 pm. Then off we spent 2 hours at Incheon's China Town. 

After 2-hour tour in China Town, we took no.2 city bus that transported us to Wolmi island. 

Then we spent 4 hours at Incheon Port and Wolmido including a cruise ship for 4 of us. It was a worth-trying cruise should anyone want to visit Incheon. 

We booked the 6 pm cruise earlier so that we could have ample time to explore more of Wolmido before boarding on the ship. 

Fed the birds, strolling along the sea-side lanes full of restaurants offering mainly seafood, especially the 회 (hwe) or live seafood (which) at times are eaten raw.  

But what we did mainly was enjoying the afternoon with the whole family in a comparatively different setting than that of Seoul.

After all, it's one of the cultural and social immersion program that we design for our kids to know and explore more of the country they live in currently, i.e. Korea. 

That's why we travel to see more of what this country could offer us for the sake of our first-hand experiencing and living in Korea.

Oh, well..it didn't work. 

Oh...there. Good girl. But..wait...Eyra...could you just take a look at Mama for a while. Say Cheese. Hmmm...then..it's Eyra who got distracted. 

Oh, well.... 

There you go!!

All of you focused on the camera and...

ok..done!

But...Eyra did a pretty good job of 'faking' that we WERE NOT tired.

On Board the Venus Cruise

 

What exactly were we looking at? Sea? Not just the sea. Mostly we were drawn by the squeaking(?) sound of flying seagulls as seen on the following picture... 

They'd been following and circling the cruise as we started the journey and they kept doing this until we docked again at Wolmido. I am pretty sure that they did so since passengers kept on feeding them...^^ 

As for us, we ran out of snacks to throw at them..so we just watched them circling around the ship. The breeze was cool enough for us to sit and relax.

Freya & Eyra must have wished they'd still had some crumbs of bread or anything to feed the birds they started to like since the trip to Wolmido. 

We're leaving away from the Incheon Grand Bridge we'd just passing through. And the sun started to set....well..yes..a few minutes away from sunset.

At about 7.30 pm we're disembarking from the ship and we're ready to return to Seoul.

It's been such a wonderful time we had in Incheon.

Memorable moment to cherish and appreciate.

Cruising under Incheon Bridge (part 2)

Let the excitement begin. It's just concrete, some may say. But...let put aside any thought but our simple and sheer joy of being on ship that would take us in this trip in the first place. Now..we came closer to see the Incheon Bridge. 

Some couples indeed made the best use of the moment to share their stories. With this backdrop or frontdrop(?)^-^ they were like absorbed into their own worlds only they knew existed. (oh..my..what am I rambling about???) 

Ok..let me get serious. This is the Incheon Bridge that spans about 21 km long. Hmm it IS huge. That's why I deliberately took a snapshot like this so as to make it look cute.^^ 

While young unmarried couples held their arms in enjoying the moment, the old one was just standing a bit apart while doing so. ^-^ 

But...the view was just as breathtaking....(I assume;) 

Ok...let me get serious again..: This is just when we were crossing underneath the Incheon Bridge. In reality this would look so massive, though.

Once again..I took a snapshot like this so as to make it 'cute'. 

Oh..what a tiny little adorable bridge you are.  

The clear water with a perfect blue sky ....melted into....mesmerized into the concrete construction of this massive Incheon Bridge was a captivating sight to behold. 

Especially when the seagulls kept on following us all along. 

This gave me another surreal feeling of it-is-a-good-thing-that-we-booked-the-trip. 

For what? To experience all of this.  

Not everyday that we could see and feel the breeze of the open sea.. 

Even when it only lasted for 90-minute.

The traces of the water gave us a point of what to expect next...

The 'Show' on Venus Cruise

 

An attempt to entertain its guest passengers on board the Venus Cruise, the crews had their share of showing off what they had to offer. First, there were these dancers who staged a cabaret-style number. 

Eyra got a little scared of what she saw....no..not scared..she's just having 'oh-no-oh-no'that kind of feeling...since... 

this one-man show from China performed on stage. Basically what he did was making fun of ceramics by tossing them around and spinning them around in every move imaginable or at times unimaginable.  

It may look so trivial for adults..but for kids..this stole their moment, especially they were sitting in the first row. 

Then..a Chinese Mask Dance with its how-she-did-that amazement on display. She changed the masks in different colors countless of times that we were simply dazzled by its sheer simplicity.

Then there was this belly dance(?) in peacock-feather outfit that ...well..considering the size of the stage and the scale of the show...was enough to give a highlight of what a cruise with a show was all about. It's not a cruise-stopper or anything, but if you thought that paying 15,000 Won you got nothing but the sea view, you'd better get down to the first floor of the cruise and take a peep of what the show offers: that's my tip. Or..if you are an outdoor person and does not need this kind-of-show, just stay on the top of the deck and enjoy the scenery.

As for us, we got to make sure that we could enjoy the whole experience of this Venus Cruise. Now let's go back to the 2nd floor of the cruise ship and continue our experience of seeing the view....

On Board the Venus Cruise (part 1)

Freya:"The wind's blowing so hard, Daddy..palli..palli" 

Yes, we're on the upper deck and of course the wind's blowing fast enough to fly my hat... 

Why don't we take pictures here as well? 

After all, it's what we came here for, right? Taking memorable moments while we could. 

My verdict: Eyra and Freya would ask me again as to whether we could take a cruise again.  

Because even on board the cruise, they still did what they started to like doing: feeding the birds that kept on following where the ferry went to. 

I bought them the shrimp crackers for them to throw away into/feed the birds. 

Seemingly Surreal Pictures at Sea (part 2)

 

Tiny cars lined up on a ferry with black dots of birds swirling around the propelling ferry into the far-flung sea. A toy-like ship toyed above the sea. 

We were passing this ferry at a speed so fast that I got to take the moment of capturing this cute little ferry. Though it was not small in reality, it does look small in this picture..making it one of the surreal pictures I took during vacation. 

This one looks so so..but let me post it here anyway.

Seemingly Surreal Pictures at Sea (part 1)

The cruise was about to start and I already encountered too-good-to-be-true moments and spectacles to behold. 

I saw an incoming ferry which was about to dock the harbor. It looked so tempting that I wanted to go closer...so..I waited and waited... 

until I got a glimpse of what the ferry looked like in the distance. 

The birds even made it more interesting. 

The boat/ferry looked just like toy, right? 

See the tiny miniature of a ferry on high sea? that's what it fell like. 

The seagulls circling the ferry seemed to be undeterred by the visitors that they just came in hundreds relentlessly. 

This is one of the pictures that I like. Somehow it captured an imaginative sight of the ferry being so mall in the vast blue ocean. 

The incoming ferry was ready to dock and then..it was our turn to embark from the harbor.  

This kind of view: sea, seagulls, ships, ferry, far-away islets beyond...were all surreal.
