Savaro: Malaysian Restaurant

Today was Mas Chairul son, Ghazy's birthday. He invited us to celebrate the occasion in Itaewon right after the Friday prayer. We're planning on having the meal at Indonesian restaurant: Siti Sarah. But...boy oh boy...it's fully booked. So...we went to  Savaro, a Malay food restaurant.

I love the cozy area where we could see the chefs prepare the food.  I learned that Savaro is an abbreviated word that comes from "SAvor our AROma"

There were 17 of us including the newest member of our big family.

Orangutan was visible in some parts of the restaurant.

Got this nasi lemak. Of course. ..I didn't eat the chicken. Mama took over!!

Some of us...@ Savaro. I think the relatively expensive price was due to the fact that this place is situated right in a strategic street of Itaewon.

Itaewon @ Saturday night. It's the first time ever that we went to Itaewon during weekend..and ..okay..I got to admit it's so 'happening' out there. 

But..we didn't have time to see around. Well, we're with the kids. 

We just finished having dinner @ Siti Sarah (Indonesian Restaurant) and then we're ready to go back home via subway. 

Park sonsaengnim was so happy to be in Itaewon for the first time. Well, she's shocked to see so many foreigners in Itaewon-- which tickled me since we're so accustomed to meeting one. Oh, in fact...we live in a foreigners' apartment.^^ 

Anyhow...with some ice cream on the go, the kids's happy, ms, Park's too. 

Itaewon Freedom...just like the title of the song...^^ 

we did 'taste' Itaewon..only 0.5% of it. ^^

more than that...NOPE...we dare NOT.^^

Dinner @ Siti Sarah: Indonesian Restaurant in Itaewon

It's Saturday night...and Park Hyun-ju sonsaengnim visited us from Daejon. Yes, she's been our regular guest in Seoul. In fact, she's more like a family member to us since she lived in Jogjakarta for 3 years 5 years ago. 

Yes..Park sonsaengnim was teaching Korean language at our university, Gadjah Mada University back then. And...the fact that she lived in Jogja for 3 years...really left a big impression on her. She's an avid lover of Indonesian food.^^ 

So...since she's in town...we took her along with my family to Siti Sarah. 

Tahu, tempe, nasi goreng, sotol ayam bakar, lele bakar, es teh...and well...other Indonesian cuisine were ......all set right in front of us. 

토요일밤이라서 그런지 진짜 손님들이 많이 모여 있네요. 

한참 기다렸지만 ....배가 고파서....잘 먹었음.
