A Half-Day Trip to Aqua Planet @ Ilsan

With reserved tickets in our hands, we went to Ilsan by subway line 3 and got off at Juyeob station.....and took the exit number 2 or 3.

then...we'd find a park...through which we walked through for about 15 minutes...

until we reached a vast square with an unmistakably the building we were heading to: Hanwa Aqua Planet...which stood right next the famous One Mount Indoor Snow Park!

Along the way, we bumped into some people enjoying the summer!

....at a nearby water fountain...and waterway.

ok...long story short...

we finally reached the entrance atrium.of the Aquarium.

not many people were visible despite the fact that it's 현충일 or Memorial Day in Korea....I wonder if it's because of the MERS Scare. ㅠ ㅠ 

...but we did go out anyway....going as far as Ilsan....to visit the aquarium! 

Yep...we did have fun.

the shows and attractions really entertained us.

....and...that wrapwrapped up our half-day tour to the "planet"...♡♡♡

Today's Friday-Bazaar @ Itaewon Masjid

Today happened to be Memorial Day (현충일 -hyeonjung il) in Korea. Surely it's a holiday. I simply had it casually until I went out of my home to find out that yes...it's a special day. Early in the morning, ajeossi in our apartment raised Taegukki (Korean flag) and then as I marched my way towards subway station on my way to the Masjid, I noticed flags were raised in front of some houses and shops. 

That's not the only special occasion I (finally) noticed today. As I arrived at the Masjid, I was taken aback by my oblivion of not coming to Masjid early...."knock..knock..knock...Hello...somebody's there?" Yes..I should've gone to Masjid early..since hundreds of people flocked to pray on this holiday. 

Well, most of them did not have to work..so practically it's their best shot of 'coming' to Seoul and pray at the Central Masjid @ Itaewon.

That's one picture I took today as I was marching myself out of the crowd as soon as the prayer finished. 

Gee..it's hot outside..but the enthusiasm of those coming simply for the bazaar was astounding. 

*looking back--> I loved the relatively blue sky we had today.

현충일

현충일 (hyeon-chung-il) or the Memorial Day or 'Hari Pahlawan' in Indonesian is today, June 6. While it is November 10 back home in Indonesia.
Anyway, this is holiday after the government designated so dated back in 1976 ( I think--or so I learned).
Just like any other Memorial Day or Hari Pahlawan, today, lots of Koreans, mostly the government officials and I think those related to the day ( though I hope that all of Koreans would do the same) are going to the national heroes cemetery to give some respect to the bravery and sacrifices they made during the hardships faced by Koreans in the past.
Yes, historically speaking, Korea had been in the tumultuous historical and political upheavals, starting from the Japanese colonization and Korean War. The last has been emphasized in the fact that many South Koreans--both soldiers and common people--who died on behalf of their country. In addition to that, there were also lots of foreign soldiers who also died during their service in Korea.
So, I think, today..the Memorial Day in Korea is to honor those (both Koreans and foreign nationals) who have served to protect Korea in the past.
--We should be thankful and respect them.
Thanks to them, we are now able to breathe, walk, and live in Korea as an independent country.
현충일.....that's pretty much of what it is today in Korea.
*Oh, I also learn that there will be a 묵념 (muknyeom) or a moment of silence (mengheningkan cipta in Indonesian) for one minute at 10 in the morning. ( It is yet to happen as I am writing this).
