Fun Rafting @ Chuseok Holiday with UT Korea Radio Family (part 1)

 

We're the big family of UT Korea Radio--an internet-based radio managed by Indonesian students at Open University in Korea (Universitas Terbuka Korea).

On Chuseok this year (2014), we went (again) to Hantan River in Pocheon to have a team building activity. There were lots of new members to the radio, so we have this team building activity...to 'consolidate'(wow..what a WORD!!) our team.

We plunged ourselves to the cold and shivering water....when we had a chance.

In some parts I say some parts) of Indonesia...we would've been greeted by some lizards..or worse..crocodile. Nooo just kidding. ^^but...it could be true, though.ㅋㅋㅋ

so...no crocodiles here.

Oh...wait, aren't we THE crocodiles???

hmm..wonder who's this? oh, it's one of our friends.

Back to the water,....pls. take our pic. pls. pls. pls.

We're divided into two teams on the race towards the finish line.

Too bad, we couldn't take any pictures of the time when we're stuck on the rock or when we got to face the huge jump from the water...

so..these pictures DID NOT do justice to what the rafting in this river REALLY looked like.

 I could guarantee that our hearts were pounding...........

well, not in this picture, of course...because we survived the TEST of the water.

Driving Out of Town @ Chuseok 2014 (part 2)

 

The scenery just awed me....we're dumbfounded by the sheer simplicity of the scenery.

First, thanks to the 'NO'other (close) cars visible right in front of us. 

The trip to Gangneung was incredible. We're on trip with the radio crews of Indonesian Open University for a membership training..

gosh..that scenery...was simply stunning. I could imagine that it would've been way much prettier in autumn. 

The bright day...really helped up boost our energy.
We're pumped up to enjoy the trip.

I guess..this is what I call a 180 degree change of life cycle. After weeks..or being 'squeezed in the city' we're finally on our way to enjoy the nature. 

Oh...what a gorgeous mountain that is.

Wonder how far that is from here. 

again...I already imagine it soaked on autumn leaves.

Driving Out of Town @ Chuseok 2014 (part 1)

First day of Chuseok...and we drove out of the city towards Gangneung. 

What an eerie (no..just kidding)...what a great day for driving... 

not many cars....and we felt like...was it really Chuseok? where's everybody? 

I bet they're already home. They arrived yesterday..and not many were on the lanes. 

which then..gave us a whole great time of our experiences of driving... 

While my friend, mas Khoirul, was busy driving...I never let my phone go into my trousers pocket. 

Kept the phone ready for camera-perfect picture....^^ 

Gosh..what a wonderful day....in Chuseok 2014.

Oh..it's too early? yup...we came ...15 minutes earlier.

but...it's okay...Freya's sonsaengnim welcomed her.

Chuseok Fiesta @ Our Apartment (part 2)

It was really a feast to the eyes + to our tummy:-)

At first, I thought I wouldn't be able to yield myself or succumb myself into the seductive calling of this affluent food.

All kinds of cakes...and specialties from numerous countries... 

Let's take a family pose, first. 

and then..I invited my new colleague at KBS, Mr. Nugroho, who just arrived about 3 weeks earlier. I asked him to come down here so as to let him know what kind of communities we're living with. He liked it.

Then, it's Seonhee's turn to show up. 

The party's begun. Everyone's delighted. Apparently. 

The fluttering flags over the tent made it even more gleeful in the sense that what would an international Chuseok fiesta be without any symbol of our diverse backgrounds? 

So, thanks to the apartment manager who took the trouble of setting up all of these. 

Cheesecake!!! yeaaach.

And for sure...lots of us couldn't resist the temptation from the I-didn't-know-what-that-was-but-it-was delicious cake. Simply delectable....:) 

Chuseok Fiesta @ Our Apartment

So many wines to choose from. Only that....I couldn't touch one of these.^-

Some people did contribute these arrays of wines for wine lovers to choose from.

What a sight to behold, then... 

It's about 6.30 pm and we started pouring into the parking lot where the fiesta was held. Some food were already set on the table, while others were being prepared by the ones in charged. 

Yup, this has been our tradition of celebrating Korean Thanksgiving Day (Chuseok) by gathering together at the front yard of our apartment. 

People started to come down from their apartment and mingled with the others.

The flags from numerous countries were deliberately hung to 'denote' and 'celebrate' the diversity we had right here in our foreign apartment. 

Then...lunch/breakfast no..definitely not breakfast ...neither lunch. it's dinner.

The array of brought-about a.k.a. home made specialties of different nationalities were delectably tasty.

Okay..we were overwhelmed by the varieties of food "laid" on the table...

But when it comes to eating time, we didn't mind. We're like in heaven. 

Barbecue, spaghetti, pasta, bread, cakes, peanut, pudding, from different countries were present to suit any palate and taste...

Most of foreign professors did contribute their own specialties...

a sense of being in one community was what brought us together

a truly characteristics of the HUFS professors & students in the apartment.

*So, how's Chuseok this weeekkk?"

#WEll, one thing for sure, it was quite breathtaking....to dig into all of those food alone.
