Agar-Agar???

I just realized that agar-agar in English IS agar-agar. I mean..who would've guessed? Well, I didn't know it. 

I got this snack from a friend. As I read the ingredients...one of them is AGAR-AGAR. 

opening up the wrapping.... 

and..it looked like JENANG in Indonesia. 

and..as I took a small bite....well, yup..it's JENANG..

and ...then..I asked..where the heck is the AGAR-AGAR? 

오므라이스 (Omurice)

Well...Though some may say that this is Japanese-origin...this one we're having...is definitely Korean-style...wait....it's Indonesian-style...wait...it's our own style...wait....oh well..what's in a name...it's omerice by whatever we call it....only that...we put some soybean curd we call 'tempe' and...no meat in it whatsoever. 

Plus...sliced cucumber and small tomatoes as edible garnishes....

hmmm...what a brunch.^^

Misoya

A Japanese restaurant chain in Korea. Though it is a Japanese restaurant, its food are mainly served with Korean taste: I mean..the taste suits the palate of Koreans. So, it's a kind of fusion restaurant, I guess. 

We dined out there to have a different atmosphere. It's just 10 minute walk from home and not that far in our standard.^^esp. for the kids. 

Of course, we could only ordered salad, odong, fish nugget: for the kids 

and albab 알밥 for me. kimchi, kim, cucumber, sesame, carrots all shredded and put them on top of warm rice.... 

They just had their wasabi...and they just couldn't get the sensation off their tongue!

Now you know, kiddos.

Dinner @ Japanese Restaurant

Dinner time @ Japanese restaurant in the neighborhood. Only that it was a special occasion since both kyosunim (prof. Lee and Kim) who 'work' @ PAS (Pacific Asia Society) program were the ones who invited us in the first place. 

It was a relief that they had kids menu.... though they were only fish nuggets (which happened to be their fave meal).

What would we eat? Udong...^^

We had a good diner before both of prof. Kim and Lee were to embark on another social visit to other countries this summer.
