Pertama....kita hrs pisah krn arah tujuannya berbeda. Adi ssnm dkk hrs balik ke hotel.

Untuk itu kami hrs ambil gambar dulu sbg kenangan. Ini di jalur 6 & 7 saat hrs transfer.

Ok...smg cukup belanjaannya hr ini.

Sempat kupotret Eyra dr seberang peron lain saat  kami menunggu kereta datang.

Sesaat sblm brgkt...lg lg sempet kuabadikan momen Adi dan Renci dlm jalur 1 menuju hotel mrk di Sinseoldong.

An Artistic Encounter @ Buk Seoul Museum of Art (part 1)

It's Sunday and I got to go out--like any other Sundays we do. This time, it was only the two of us, me and Eyra. Her Mom and her sister were at home having a ladies-morning-gathering (^-^), so I just needed to 'escape' the commotion among them at home. I'd rather be going out somewhere..ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Long-story-->short, I was taking Eyra to a nearby museum (the newly opened one): it's Buk Seoul Museum of Art or 서울시립 북서울미술관. We encountered three colorfully painted geckos(?) or lizards (?) at the front yard of the museum leading to the entrance. 

It's free admission, for most part. And we just dashed ourselves into it without any prior knowledge as to what'd be encountering inside.  

Well, it turned out that there were painting exhibitions by numerous painters from Korea. Gee..I am sorry for taking this picture...I didn't know as to whether I was allowed to take pictures of the arts...but as my camera kept on clicking EVEN with the sound of the 'Click-clik-click'...not even the guards minded that. I was not reprimanded for what I'd been doing..so I guess..it was OK to take pictures. And so I did. 

It's 무재 (or untitled)...so I read. I could be wrong, though...since there were other paintings on the walls....

say..I kinda liked this one..I don't know...the white stripes on the front seem to be people marching. Are they chefs? hmm and the stack of books at the background? wait..is that books stacked or....is that king's throne? hmmm 

Anyway..we also had a chance to see the tools used by the painter himself when he created his masterpieces. Even a collection of his tools could be a colorful revelation of themselves. 

Now..about the painter, one of them ( yes..there are others, too)..but, the one I managed to take a snapshot at was...황창배 (Hwang Chang Bae) who turned out to be a remarkably famous judged from his works and achievements posted here.

Hmm, I guess I could learn one or two from my dash-in encounter to this museum.

What about Eyra? Did she enjoy it? hmm, not sure..but at least she learned something new.

Dongdaemun Design Plaza & Park: Will it live up to what it promised to BE?+

This is one section of the facades of the soon-to-be-opened design plaza and park @ Dongdaemun. Just got back from there. Witnessed some workers did what looked to be a post-finishing or hmm finishing touch to the supposedly grandiose state-of-the-art plaza. hmm...

well..this is the rendering of what it'll look like when it's fully completed.

But...this is what it looked like...at least at the point of my visit as of today (March 6, 2014). I think it's about to fully operational. At daylight the walls seem to be er...bland but...I saw some rendering that the walls will be glaringly glowing with lights at night. Hope that's gonna be true, though.

So..this is what it looked like as of today. I took Eyra to take a walk even when it was surprisingly cold (again). ^^. Not many people around..and we occasionally encountered some people who happened to be coming in and out of the subway station right underneath this behemoth design. 

This will surely be another must-visit attraction or tourist spot in Seoul. 

Though nothing seems to be 'occupying' the area, I am sure that this plaza will be filled with innumerable exhibits to ease the senses of Seoul sight-seekers.  

The question that remains is whether its function will live up to its 'grandiosely behemoth design!! TIME will tell. ..and I cant' wait to pay another visit when it's officially opened. This March?? hmmm......

Seoulland (part 9): Bathed in Lights

 

The Halloween-themed park was lit up during the night. We're lucky to be there a little bit late until 7 pm. (late for the kids:) 

But, once again...this has been a great day to be with friends.  

Eyra was running towards the tree of life^^ like the one in Pandora. oh, please...

Royal Tomb of Joseon Dynasty (part 9)

 A nice afternoon hangout in historical trail that would transport us into the depth and intricate layer of Confucianism in Joseon Dynasty.

Come and visit the Royal Tomb of Joseon Dynasty at Seolleung. 

a green lawn and blue sky: a perfect day to chill out outdoor.

it cost me only 1,000 Won for adult.

So..one hour tour into a history of Joseon as seen from the royal tour would be a rewarding experience--for anyone keen into history..or into natural atmosphere of Seoul.

we could get off at Seolleung station (line 2-green line) and walk from exit 8 and walk for about 5 minutes and we'll meet this sign. 

I didn't bring any cash in my wallet, so...debit card is acceptable, too. 

This is the ticket.

A unique memory.

Royal Tomb of Joseon Dynasty (part 8)

This is the view from where I was standing behind the shrine of the King Seongjong:

The 9th ruler of Joseon Dynasty. 

That's the burial mound up there. I was just admiring the surrounding serenity that it offered. green lawn, trees, blue sky...a perfect combination... 

With just an entrance fee of 1,000 won or not even 1US$, it is considered a perfect spot to ...well...any activities that people want to. 

But..please in mind that this is still...considered as a sacred place...

so be thoughtful and ...well, you know.

but..taking pictures are surely allowed.

What I liked and loathed(:) to a certain degree of this place is how this traditional building is encapsulated and wrapped inside the modern high-rise building.

Wait...doesn't it make it even more unique??? 

hmmm...yes...in such a way, it is indeed.

There's one of them.  

It would've been great if I could just walk on it...but...keep off the lawn, Suray!!!

Garosu-gil (가로수길): (part 2: Architecture to Smile For)

Yes, who wouldn't want to experience new facades that would soothe the eyes in Seoul? I mean...the architectures of shops and cafes in Garosu-gil are apparently nice to look at.  

People could describe it as European-style architecture--no matter how fake-looking it may be--coz it's nothing more than a facade to 'lure' consumers into the cafes. But, it does work, right? me myself...I was kinda attracted to this myself.:-) 

Smile Market. Hmm...I wonder if even the mannequins were also smiling at us.

And..I wonder what kind of smiles they're offering. 

Another porch..? Veranda?? adorned with flowers colorful enough for sidewalk(ers) to look at and decide..." hmm..."

I thought that tourists were not that many. But I was wrong...is it because it's Sunday that I overheard Chinese and Japanese languages being spoken....

Yes..some tourists from neighboring countries started to fling around here...

Oh, they have Forever 21, too. and...it boasts its 4 floors?? 

One of the corners that I loved. It's cute little shop with unique concept. 

These two women in red are tourist guides who would be gladly helping out any tourists who might ask for directions around Garosu-gil.

The fact that these kinds of guides are there...only means one thing: Garosu-gil started to attract many foreign visitors. 

Later on on my other entry: I saw lots of foreign brand cars around here.

It's indeed a really new atmosphere to behold. 

Glass-through walls..open for everyone to see and be seen really encapsulates the very core purpose of this kind of place.
