Bike Rental @ Daesong-ri

Worry not if we do not bring our own bike. In fact, most of the bikes I happened to witness^^ during my half-day tour @ Daesong-ri came from this kind of rental station--which scattered around the Bukhan River. 

This one is located right next to Daesong-ri station.

it cost only 10,000 Won (US$ 10) for 4 hours. or...7,000 Won for 2 hours.

or..20,000 Won for the whole day. 

Bike Sharing. I didn't know what it means..but I guess we can take a bike together with other people and share the rental fee? is that what it means?

I should've checked on it. 

So as to make it easier and not to confuse both the consumers and the rental owners as to which bikes belong to which rental station, each rental shop has its own colored bikes.

Yes, just the two of us....^^

in Bukhan River. 

water-skiing ....or just scenery-watching....is just a perfect thing to do in this area. 

Freya....."hmm what's that?" 

Yummy.....I could eat like this everyday..

Daesong-ri Weekend Trip (part 11)

The main part of the trip's over. Now it's time for us to explore..the river on our own.

The sky's not perfect blue, in fact..it was grey..the wind's strong enough.

and we're not wearing any jacket. 

but still, it didn't hamper us in enjoying the river. 

As a matter of fact, Freya and I were able to enjoy the river..no matter what.

But..the only thing we could do..was just walking, instead of riding a bike.

but backdrop of the skiing...was enough to soothe the sore eyes.

Daesong-ri Weekend Trip (part 10)

Another group of cyclists in PINK was passing us by. 

Distribution process.... 

She started to dance... 

a bust a move....to ward off the windy day... 

숲해설가 (forest guide or literally 'forest explanation/commenting person). 

Freya's kindergarten had booked us on a 'forest experience school' program. 

the last item she distributed to the kids...was pine cone.

In fact, she even brought two different pine cones: Japan origin and native Korean pine cone--for us to differentiate and learn.

Daesong-ri Weekend Trip (part 9)

Another flower to watch out for.

oops...I must've done something wrong...it wasn't focused. 

Now these are nature-based works of arts.

Fold a cleanly washed leaf and then fold it up several times and start making patterns by gritting our teeth on to it.

open it up..and da..da....it's a work of art.

oh..no..another commotion... 

oh....it's this is bunga tiup-tiup...I don't know what it's called but... 

surely kids loved them.

Daesongri Weekend Trip (part 8)

Another flower so tiny that I wouldn't have noticed it, had my guide not informed us about it. I got to zoom them with my camera to know how intricately amazing these tiny flowers were. See the soft hairs(?) protruding on their shafts? 

Then..let's go on walking towards another section of the riverbank.... 

Where we could see diamond-skinned tree: that's how I remember them.

Well, the exfoliated ehmmm I mean...peeled-off skin of the trees were in the shape of diamond-like shapes....!!that's why. 

and..we still had a long way to go through....what to see next.

But..one thing for sure...another cute flower just sprung out to catch my attention.

Just look at the purple pollen inside this white flower! priceless!!!

Daesong-ri Weekend Trip (part 7)

Another commotion: the only reason? yes...the loop. the magnifying loop.  

this is what made the kids go nuts whenever a shrub, tiny insect, or any kind small plants were inserted into it. 

As for me, I'd rather 'plunge' myself into the wonder of nature surrounding us.

I never take a moment to capture and admire their beauty until...

oh, did I mention that cyclists passed us by every now and then? 

another view that captured my eyes: they're just laid there..I mean...just shrubs and wild flowers living scattered...around the park, under the trees, barely visible..

yet..if we take a moment to admire their being ALIVE...

it really IS a blessing. Subhanallah.

Daesong-ri Weekend Trip (part 6)

So, this is what people calle 'Morning Glory' or 아침의 영광  in Korea. 

I only thought that morning glory was just a name of Korea's stationery store:-)  

There were endless wild flowers that we came to learn what they were called. But, this one I simply forgot it, not the 'morning glory'!!

Daesong-ri Weekend Trip (part 5)

Wait... a car parked in the forest? 

Well..since it's not that far from the road...there were one or two cars ....nestled in the forest er...a park...er...a public space...er.... 

anyway...we moved on with our activities. We kept on learning new stuffs about trees. 

the river was right next to us...yes..we're basically walking adjacent to the riverbank. 

Freya...what happened? got bored? why? you didn't like it, here?

why???/ ^^* aha..she's exhausted of walking......** 

But we still got a long way to go around...the river, too.
