Biking on Weekend: Repair the Bikes & Go!

One of the kids' bikes got a flat tyre...and they've been wanting to ride the bike since it's summer!

So...I let them take the bike to have it repaired at the nearest bike repair shop. 

It took about 15 minutes...including taking the unnecessary stuffs off the bike^^ it cost me 13,000 won all.

dada....the bikes were ready...and we're off to...

explore the neighborhood.... 

up...up...up....until we reached. ..

a 3-km long ride towards....

Taereung!!! Yup...I was walking right behind the kids.

and....it's our first time (although we live nearby) at this royal tomb of Queen Munjeong.

*weekend well spent.

Since it's only about 3 km from our home, we took the bikes!!! The kids rode the bikes and I walked^^

First stop: the museum.

Take some peeps on the diorama. This one is about the royal funeral procession.

The way leading to the tomb of Queen Munjeong was pretty neat. We passed through wooden blocks with wheat plantations on each side.

loved it.

since it's summer, the trees turned green and it's giving us some shades and cooling oxygen^^

Keep on walking, gals.

There were some benches. Just perfect.

not for picnic...but to step on it so as to give it a sense of height ㅋㅋㅋ. *kidding 

Finally we reached the gate to the royal tomb.

we came there. Serene.

a serene place ...even in summer.

ok...kids...!

it's a good day to.have a stroll.in the park. Though this isn't a park.

Of course...there are sime other people coming in.

...and we took.some more shots before taking a rest at one of the benches we saw earlier.

#subway line 6. Then take the bus no.202. Or simply walk to Seoul Women University...and it's just 15-20 minute walk from the main gate of the university.

With only 1000 won or 500 won for my case*...I took the kids to one of the tombs of Joseon kings*.

the kids didn't need to pay. It's free of charge for them.

with that...we could enjoy the scenery and learned one or two about history.

They loved it....well...I thought so.

one of the ways to enjoy summer.

It's not that hot today...so it's fun.

turned out some people were also having picnic!!!

one thing for sure...the kids had a time with their Daddy out of the house.

oh...they even had their fair share of becoming archeologists. So they said.

Taereung 입구...

I was thinking of taking a walk into the Taerung royal tomb since the day was so great to have a walk. It's passed 9 o'clock...and yet..the gate where I was supposed to buy the ticket was not yet opened. Then, I started to wonder if that was the right thing to do..or wait..did I come on the day when it's usually closed? 

Nope. I was ...waiting ..waiting..but then...it's not opened with no one's around.

So..I just took the bus and got back home....again.

A Worth-Knowing Trivial Fact about an Entrance of Subway Station (near where I live)

Taereung Station is one of the two subway stations which I can use to go somewhere by subway. Since it's been always busy and hectic, I never..well almost never take notice of what the exit may look like. People may not take notice of it either. (Or they do..and it's just me who don't). Well..okay...the other day I happened to walk sloooooowwwly and took my time to enjoy what it actually had to offer. 

First..I did not realize that there was this 'small' made-up garden right next to the fly-over above it. Well..of course I knew it..but never paid attention much compared to what I did this time. And..the unique thing about it was that it was located next to ...a fly over. People could just consider it as nothing special.....and could just pass it by without making a fuss about it. Of course some people do know its existence...but how come that I felt like I just realized it. 

I may be too oblivious. 

Okay..there is one more thing that I want to point out...there is a 포장마자 (pojangmaja) or a street vendor that sells 'street-style fast food'. I find it interesting because it reminds me of Indonesia's style 'warung pinggir jalan' that sells similar food. But, the thing is...it's about 9.15 a.m. and I noticed that this particular pojangmaja opened already. hmm..interesting. 

It just rained so the air was fairly fresh and I loved it.

Oh, there was also a public gym or fitness equipment near this area..but I didn't take a pic of it. For anyone who knows or who's been to Korea, this kind of facility is a usual sight in most parks across the country.
