Jeonju Trip (part 2): The First Glimpses of the Hanok Village

Just after we had lunch, we strolled along the paved streets that I love. I mean..the streets are not covered in asphalt like most streets would have been, instead they are tiles. Yup, tiles. 

I loved the fact that it was not that cold that day. In fact, it was more like autumn! Not that cold and not that warm, either. Just ..a perfect day for walk in a setting like this. 

We kept on walking ...passing the seemingly never ending show of hanok over hanok that dot the whole landscape of the village. 

and...voila...this is 보주  or Jeonju makkeolli. Hmm..so this is what people have been raving about. I wonder how much this may cost. I didn't buy them, though. 

Even CU was written in Hangeul (씨유)...and other shops were, too.

Hmm..I guess...Jeonju really wants to retain its authenticity, though, of course..they are all modern building.s 

With the barren trees in winter..the setting couldn't have been prettier or eerier depending on when we set our heart & mind when we looked at it.

But, as for me...it's simply ...winter. 

Now, we passed the famous Cathedral in Jeonju.  

Kept on walking..and the sight of the cathedral was still visible. Well, it's one of the most striking architectures in Jeonju, I guess.  

Then, we were walking pass the square where I spotted this "oops" statue..that would intrigue everyone looking at it to guess what it was supposed to portray... 

Oh, right..I still could see the same architecture that really gave a striking feature to the city---at least around Hanok Village.

Jeonju Trip (part 1): Bibimbap for Lunch

The interior of the restaurant where we had our lunch. The Korean-style drawing adorned the wall. As for our lunch, it turned out that they were already served even before we got there.  

The ceiling was made out of wood-which surely give an ambiance of what traditional house may look like from inside. 

now..this is what I call food^^: being a vegetarian, I just asked the meat to be removed from the list of the side-dish. 

What about the egg? hmm...well, I can eat that. After all, I am NOT 100% pure vegetarian or vegan. 

This was something that I found for the first time that day. Moju (makkeolli)^^ but this one is specially made in Jeonju.  

When we finished our lunch, I got a chance to look around the house and the owner seemed to like tiny ornaments or decorations which were meticulously arranged on even every nook and cranny of the house.

전주 콩나물국밥 Jeonju's Sprout Soup:-)

This is Jeonju kongnamul gukbab (전주 콩나물국밥). When it comes to Jeonju, people usually associates the city with Bibimbab (mixed rice). But...not always. I think ...this kongnamul gukbab should come first or at the same time.

This is a great recipe for cold winter like this. And for me..this is what popped out of my mind when I was having a cold last week. This really made my day.

I felt like I was energized after having this 'hot and spicy concoction' 

I could eat them all .....all by myself. a rare occasion for someone who cannot eat a lot.

(just kidding). Simply because it was so delicious..I could savor this 전주 콩나물국밥.
