The first time I heard about this movie, I looked up my dictionary and learned what Elysium means. Okay..then..off me went to the IMAX theater at CGV Wangshimni.
I was choked-up with the idea that we could get all cured from all diseases (even cheating death,yes... as long as our brain's still intact..we could cheat death. hmm ) if we live up there in Elysium (Paradise-like space station).
but there's a nauseating fact shown on film: Most white people are on Elysium, while the black, brown, colored people are left on polluted earth. except , Matt Damon, maybe:) ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ No, I mean...was it deliberately made so? or...it's just a simple stereotyping that most whites could 'afford' buying their tickets to the Elysium while other could not?
hmm or did I miss something?
Well, yes..the premise of the movie is enough to intrigue any fans of science-fiction to see this. Me included. And..there's Matt Damon..everyone. and..yes..Jodie Foster, too..is IN the movie.
So, frankly speaking..they both enticed me.
and..was I blown away by the movie? hmmm....sort of. Not really.
It's a spectacle if you see it in IMAX, but..alas...it's all dull and grey...
Wish..the movie could've been more louder in style, especially the first 30 minutes that would take us in a oh-no-please-do-not-get-me-yawn moment....
Still, so much so, I was pumped up in the last 20 minutes or so of the movie..when everything fell apart. I wish the movie hadn't ended that way, though.
I wish..the movie would've dared itself to tick us to think restlessly..about the future...
Once again, being a movie freak, I could not resist myself from not having to 'BE' in the premier of one of the most anticipated Summer blockbuster: Man of Steel.
Yup. Thursday. 2013.06.13. @ Wangshimni CGV--dubbed to be one of my must-be place to be to enjoy movie.

Ok: I expected to be blown away by the movie...but I was like 'half-blown'
It is a roller-coaster movie, alright..
BUT..
It (to a certain degree) RUINED my childhood memories of what Superman was/is/will be.^^
I mean...This "Man of Steel" tone IS different.
I was not impressed by the first few minutes...but I was so excited and drawn into the movie when the adult-superman was portrayed as a normal Clark Kent at home with his father and mother.
As for the action: oh Man..it was destructively nasty. Well, my eyes are getting used to all of the computer-generated images that it did okay in oozing me into the sky.
I kinda want to see more of his childhood development more....before the movie zapped in a split-second to the matured present-day Clark Kent a.k.a. Jor El.
I think Superman transformation is TOO soon. It could've been dug out even compellingly deeper.
* and..the destruction of Metropolis also somewhat gave me a 'bland' feeling.
Other parts of the city were still leisurely at their slackest time of the year when just right on the neighborhood....a calamity IS happening!! what?
and the time frame : Krypton and Earth. Gosh..is it a trivial stuff?
Well, I wish I could say that.
Now I know why it is PG 12.
It is intended for kids even in their elementary school or junior high.
Hmm..I just wish that it would've been PG 17+ so that it would give it a more depth into what should have been an emotional ride.
Emotional movie? (** out of 4)

Story? (**- out of 4)
The special Effect? (**- out of 4)
See it again for the 2nd time? Maybe, not definitely.
or maybe I should've watched it on IMAX 3D?

Oh..I miss my Christopher Reeve's Superman
or even...oh..it turned out ( I could not believe that I would say this....)
On March 1, I was somewhat lost in CGV Cinema as which movie to watch. I was coming with an expectation to see "Jack the Giant Slayer" but to no avail. No tickets were available at that time. All's sold out. And not a minute too soon ...I spotted one seat left on the screen. STOKER had one more seat and the movie was about to start in 5 minutes.
Without further thinking, I bought one ticket and got myself sulkily lured into the dark theater....with no anticipation of what would come ahead.
I was uneasily beaten right through my heart and felt restless throughout the movie.
I heard about this STOKER film before. The buzz on the internet was going on. It is Korean director--Park Chan-wook's English-language debut in Hollywood.
A lot of Koreans were talking and making it one of big headlines over the weeks.
So...there I was. seated at the back row of the dark room when the stories began.
Nicole Kidman, Matthew Goode, Mia Wasikowska.....gave chilling performance that I more than often got on the edge of my seat and squirmed.......
I came without knowing at all what the movie was all about and..I came out....speechlessly dumbfounded in sheer trembling of what the movie was all about.
As I promised the kids, well...actually...they and all Korean kids across the nation asked for it, I took the kids to CGV Cinema at Wangshimni to see one of their beloved characters: Pororo 뽀로로. This made-in Korea character has transfixed and bedazzled lots of kids ...glued them every day on TV or on internet or on any other platform to enjoy the excitement that Pororo and his friends bring about to their world.
This time....this is on BIG SCREEN. The Pororo Racing Adventure hit theaters since January 24 and I booked the tickets in advance so that we could see it on Sunday (January 27, 2013).
It was a good decision to do so since lots of parents do the same thing for their kids.

I was prepared to encounter lots of kids with their parents or parents with their kids thronged into the theaters across Korea and I am sure any other countries, too.

Overall, the kids loved the movie that they begged me to let them re-watch it again.
What? No.!
It's expensive, dear..to watch a movie on cinema.
That's why I decided to take the kids to see the digital movie only, not necessarily the 4XD cinema where the seat could move along with the story of the movie.
hmmm...it woud've been fun but...surely it would've cost more, as well.
The good thing was that...Eyra and Freya loved the movie although it was not the 4XD cinema.
Pororo 뽀로로: one of my kids' favorite characters come to live again. This time in big screen. It's not yet released until January 24, 2013, but ...the hype has been on going HUGE--of course...among children.
So, when I was at CGV Wangshimni to watch Les Miserable and the Hobbit, I encountered a sponsor activity targeted for movie goers with children to make sure that they won't miss the first chance of seeing Pororo in 3D.
