yup...this is what we came there for.

Got in line to get our name tag.

Let's get started, then....

The green in early summer greeted the visitors.

And...we're ready to see what the Rites looked like.

on our way to the main rite site.

We had the devices with which we could get real time explanation of the whole procession. Got them from this booth.

It's crowded and lots of tourists began coming in before the procession began.

This is what the Royal ancestral rites is called...Jongmyo Daeje.

An annual invocation and respect for the spirits of Joseon kings. 19 of them.

these are the officers in charge to perform the whole processions.

It lasted for 2 hours.

it was raining...yet the rites must go on.

The officers in charge of the royal rites were doing their designated roles in the royal spirit rites.

The green in summer encapsulated the silent moment...

Yep...pretty much what we looked like that day...*raining...^^

Thank you KTO. Yuris and I finally managed to see this annual royal ancestral rites for all of the 19 kings and their royal members in one place.

The rites just finished and we were then allowed to come closer to the shrine to see the each shrine of all 19 kings of Joseon.

Of course it was an experience in itself.

King Taejo, the founder of Joseon Dynasty.

Lots of people deliberately took a pic of this shrine.

King Sejong.

The one who created Hangeul.

King Injo. Hmm...

King Gojong...

This is how it looked like when all 19 shrines are lined up.

The elephant-shaped sangjun or wine cup for the royal spirit. Hmm...elephant. W...W...Why? Where did it get its influences from? I wonder...
