A Recollection of Eyra's Days in the hospital

I still want to put some pictures of the times when Eyra was still hospitalized at Kyunghee Medical Center. I did not remember whether it's the 3rd of 4th day, but one thing for sure...she showed some signs of recovery. Judging from her eyes...and the smile she gave us^^ (or was it because of the balloon with a shark in it?^^)

Thus, she insisted on going out for a few minutes outside of the hospital. Despite the fact that it was a bit chilly outside, she insisted on going.Well, since I also thought that it would psychologically help her gain her health back, I said yes and here we were... 

...at the pond right at the center of the hospital's entrance. It did lure some people to stop and check what it had to offer. It had some kinds of fiber lamps that would change its colors every seconds. I bet Eyra saw it days before that she knew what it was and begged me to take her there...^^

See? Wearing her hospital pajamas and at the same time holding her 'injection stick(?) (gosh..I wonder what it's called), she was able to manage her way around the curves and the stairs and stuffs. She pretty much enjoyed it.

Back to the room.....and we had a cake that Wulan gave us. Wulan is my student back home. She was the one who was supposed to celebrate her birthday, but she gave the cake for us to enjoy. Oh...^^

 

I might as well post up the bigger picture of the cake. Eyra and the gang (that includes me, then^^) loved it. A treat in a treatment room like this.

Eunjin is Eyra's friend in the class. She gave her a visit. They are pretty much close to each other since they always spend weekend together. Eyra was happy to have her friends come and see her. Moreover, they brought along with them...some girls' stuffs to play with....=

THIS what I mean.^^. They played with put-it-on & take-it-post-it kind of paper toys where girls can dress up their barbie with any fashionable outfits they want to. 

Pssst...Eyra was never into this kind of girls' toys, but to our surprise...she loved it^^

It was the time when she got to undergo a USG treatment. She got a lump on her right neck the day she was hospitalized. The reason she got this USG was to see as to whether that 'lump' still exist and as to whether it possess any further potential harms.

Thank God, she is just fine and the 'lump' was nothing more than an excessive effect of her high fever. It was decreasing and now..it's completely gone. Nothing to worry about.

intermezzo: I think this is the best meal I ever had in the hospital simply because it had no meat at all. Well, there is some fish on it, but others are tofu, kimchi, sprouts and ...other vegetarian stuffs that I like.

It was the 5th day and every night she still had a high fever. That's the reason she was not yet allowed to go home. But, I am sure that the doctors had done their best to make sure that she was fine. I prayed that she'd be just fine and getting better..

And she was. She was getting better and better. Even, she never stopped having activities such as drawing, sketching or coloring some Tayo's pictures--one of her favorites.

Oh, did I mention that her 'chihuahua' always accompanied her from day one?^^

Now, this is something that I would like to mention. Thank God, Alhamdulillah, we have this National Health Insurance for foreigners. We would've paid a lot of money, had we not had this insurance. I think Korean Government really does a good job even in protecting the interests and rights of foreigners like me. 

Oh, this is another activities that Eyra got herself involved: making some thing out of playdough or clay.

Being with my daughter is priceless...

It is still a story about the time we spent together for almost a week in a hospital. We tried to smile as always, despite ..... oh well, I do not have to jot it down here. Eyra was  practically  lying on her bed for almost 6 days...of course, there were times when she got up and walked about the corridor at the 12 floor of the hospital, going to the toilet, or....going out to the 2nd floor of hospital plaza where we could breathe some fresh air...(rad my other post on this one)

I took a peep into the corridor where Freya was being hospitalized at Kyunghee University Medical Center. A father was seen pushing in a carriage with his baby on it, I guess.

Back to Eyra, here...she looked so soundly asleep. Every night she got a high fever. Whenever I remembered this, I felt a lump on my throat coz I know that she was struggling. But, thank God she's now fine and everything is fine now. 

Oh, this one is an example of set menu provided by the hospital. Since we told the staff that we do not eat any ham or pork or any dwaeji gogi or any products derived from those, we were lucky to have an attentive staffs who did their best to make sure that the menu met our request. In short, we always have fish or seafood with lots of veggies. And..Eyra loves to eat fish.

She's the one who asked and persistently insisted me to draw something on it.

She looked back and --I knew--that she tried to smile^^

We went down to the 2nd floor of the main hall of the hospital where we could sit on a couch and sofa while enjoying a free time relaxing. Afterall Eyra needed some time to cool herself off from the monotonous atmosphere of the bunk bed in her ward. 

A happy look on her face. I could see that she was a bit swollen due to her illness. But, once again...alhamdulillah that now she is back to normal and fine. 

What I learned from having all of this is that...no matter how gloomy a problem may look or sound...things are surely going to be clear and better. We'd just need patience...^^

(Alhamdulillah ...and we are so grateful. We got a health insurance for the whole family. Thanks to the charity and the generosity of Kyunghee Hospital, 사회선업실, and the doctors there who sincerely supported us.

A Day in Eyra's Life at the Hospital

Eyra was hospitalized for a week. She got a high fever and the doctor had to examine all-full body USG Scan for days now...But, she seemed to be okey apparently. Anyway..I just wanted to post an entry about one hour we spent at the 2nd floor of Kyunghee Hospital where Eyra was treated.

First, she asked me to buy her a balloon with a pink dolphin in it. ^^ 

She looked so happy when I put some air into the balloon that finally made it float as if some water had been pumped into it. We were sitting at the 1st floor veranda where visitors and patients could talk and take a rest...

Now, we were outside at the second floor where some recreational facilities were there for anyone to enjoy. One of them is a pond with some big fish in it....

Eyra and her sister, Freya, were happy to spend an evening together while enjoying their snacks. Eyra was seen with her injection attached to her. She got herself got used to it already by the 2nd day.

Even a pigeon wanted to stroll along the plaza...

Now, it's time to take a rest with their Mom. Some other patients were also having some time with their families and relatives. Eyra --although I knew it was though for her-- seemed to enjoy the moment.

They never seemed to stop liking the pond. They kept coming back and forth...

Then, off the went into a foot-spa or some rock-and- stone-made walking path where we could walk on it barefoot. They seemed to be enjoying it.

Freya tiptoeing. Eyra tried to figure out how to get her 'equipment' could tag her along.^^

Then..off they went to another....corner to do something else...

Oh, I see...they wanted to try on using a rocking chair or ...was it a swing? Yes. 

I just could not stop admiring how persistent Eyra was....

Despite her condition, she insisted on playing with her sister...

....Oh, swell...they were back again..at the pond and started again..chatting with them ( I assume)^^

Other kids were pouring in. 

oh, ...well...they were back again on the swing. This time, they were sitting on the other swing. 

Took a shot of what the situation at the 2nd floor looked like at that particular time. 

Now...for the last time that day..they were running, walking, chasing one another...

Gosh..sometimes I came to wonder if she was alright...^^

A relief. Now, they were back to the room The room where Eyra stayed for a 6-day treatment at the hospital was somewhat not-that-big, but it could accommodate up to 4 patients with their families. 

This time, Eyra and Freya were playing cards and coloring books. They looked so busy.

Never have they been this persistent in coloring and making stuffs. To make it more peculiar, Eyra had to take a rest at that time, but still..she did not want to. Instead, she kept playing with her toys and coloring pages.

Ok, girs...now stop playing and start looking at Daddy. Say 'Cheese'!

Eyra, you were hospitalized..and...this has been a tough but at the same time...an eye-opening and full of blessing days for all of us.
