Eyra Ikut Jualan

Yup....that's Eyra. She's helping her Mom selling Indonesian food during a bazaar at Gwanghwamun square. Oh...she insisted on helping. And...oh. . .she came to Gwanghwamun by subway. . .herself. yes..she finally managed to take Seoul subway by herself.^^

BALI BISTRO

We're going to Bali Bistro @ Sinchon area.

from exit 6..walk until the first alley on the left, go left for about 50m and then turn right at the first alley...and the signboard's gonna be visible.

Buka Bersama Rekan-Rekan Jurusan

Lombok Ijo: one of the must-visit restaurants whenever we're in Jogja. 

Akhirnya bisa juga pergi ke Lombok Ijo sama rekan-rekan sejurusan. 

Tempe, sayur asem...dan berbagai macam masakan tradisional ala Indonesia PLUS Samballlllll ada lengkap di sini. well, ...it's good choice, then. 

There should've been more people, but anyhow...most of us were present.

Minggu: Home-made Breakfast

sunday. Home-made kimbab....my vegetarian style. Oh...plus some tteok we bought from the tteokjib nearby.

scrambled eggs. Oseng tempe. Sliced cucumbers. Perkedel 'fried mashed potatoes'.... Plus rice ...for sure.

Tempe: organically made food..... Indonesian traditional food. Well..one thing for sure...I love it. 

Being a vegetarian.....tempe is the main .....staple food for me. ㅋㅋㅋ

Delightful Food/Snack I Encountered This Past Week

First of all, at times...I got to admit that I've been craving for anything sweet...geezzh...I know I shouldn't have, but who could turn down a giftpack of traditional home-town snack that my student brought for me?

It is made of coconut brown sugar, peanuts, and tapioca (?)....@nyway...it's crunchily tempting. Gone in a few seconds^^

We went to a nearby Korean restaurant and ordered 알밥 [albab] which is basically rice with assorted side dish....but mostly veggies and the 알밥 itself~~which is actually ^fish eggs^

..and with two shrimp tempura, it just blew me away....^^ of course, I didn't eat the shrimps. My kids did.

Back at home...I had scrumptious....light (?) Diner...consisting of tempe, emping, boiled sprouts, black beans mixed with coconut shreds, and the irreplaceable sambal!!!

Thanks to my wife who knows what I like.

I was home and it's served..

And...one more thing that I love is kering tempe or dried tempe (soybean) mixed with peanuts, garlic, shallot, and chilli.

whoa...a good meal for a vegetarian like me.

again and again...I thank my wife for making all of these.

Of All the Places to Eat...

Seoul turned out to be quite a small city...who would've thought that we'd bump into Wachid and Norwegia (our students who happened to be in Seoul for a short visit). 

It so happened that we had the same idea of having NASI GORENG and MIE GORENG in Seoul...and the best place to have them is IFC Mall Food Court.

So...here we were. We accidentally met there. 

and..what's the best thing for dessert? ice cream!

Dinner @ Siti Sarah: Indonesian Restaurant in Itaewon

It's Saturday night...and Park Hyun-ju sonsaengnim visited us from Daejon. Yes, she's been our regular guest in Seoul. In fact, she's more like a family member to us since she lived in Jogjakarta for 3 years 5 years ago. 

Yes..Park sonsaengnim was teaching Korean language at our university, Gadjah Mada University back then. And...the fact that she lived in Jogja for 3 years...really left a big impression on her. She's an avid lover of Indonesian food.^^ 

So...since she's in town...we took her along with my family to Siti Sarah. 

Tahu, tempe, nasi goreng, sotol ayam bakar, lele bakar, es teh...and well...other Indonesian cuisine were ......all set right in front of us. 

토요일밤이라서 그런지 진짜 손님들이 많이 모여 있네요. 

한참 기다렸지만 ....배가 고파서....잘 먹었음. 

맛있었죠, 쌤?^^ (*tentuuu)

Black Sticky Rice & Mung Bean Porridge

Hmm...my favorite mung bean porridge.  

What makes it even more special is the way it is complemented with coconut milk and the black sticky rice that goes just right with it. 

I've been wanting to devour this porridge and when my wife made it for me..

I was like 'wow' 

thank you, Mama for making my favorite 'bubur kacang hijau and ketan hitam.

Morning Snack in Jogjakarta: Mini Durian and Gimbab

We were startled by the thin thud sound. It turned out to be a mini durian that just fell off the tree. We picked it up and sliced it open....only to find that it had no flesh enough to eat. 

But..what intrigued us was the size of the Durian. It's as small as a broccoli!!!

Did we eat it, then? Heck, no.:) 

But, instead, we had gimbab that my wife and her sister prepared for us.

We brought along most of the ingredients from Korea and we did it right here in Jogja. 

I could boast to say that even though we're in Jogja, we did have some Korean snacks or food occasionally. how cool is that, eh?
