Pasar Loak di Dongmyo

Masih ada waktu 30 menit sblm jemput Eyra. Hari sdh mulai gelap karena mendung dan memang sebentar lagi jam 5 sore. Namun, itu tak membendung keisenganku untuk mengintip pasar loak yang ternyata cantik juga pas musim gugur.

Hmm...whatba lovely afternoon walk I had. Though I spent like 15 minutes in the market, I could savor the delights of autumn near the flee market and around Dongmyo shrine. Gosh...autumn leaves....even when they're just lying on the fence...always captured my warmth I felt inside...

...now....see the real stuffs. Yup...banyak yg bs kita dapatkan di sini. So muchn"treasures" here with reasonably cheap prices.....if you're good at bargaining...to begin with.

The gloomy-looking afternoon skies in the early winter...never damped their spirit to do business as usual...(just look at them)....and that's great. 

Oh...it's 16.40...I got to catch the bus....otherwise I'd be late....to Eyra's school.

Drifting Along Line 6

Been using the line 6 subway all along without knowing what's in store on the surface...well, subway..means we're being subbed into the dark zone of not knowing what's up there. So, after meeting up with a friend of mine, I decided just to stop at one station and went up to see what's it like there.

It's near the exit 5 of Yaksu station 약수역. 

There seemed to be a tunnel. 

and..then..okay..let's just go down again..riding the subway. 

This time..I stopped by at Line 6's Dongmyo station on purpose..to take some pictures of.. 

This. Yes..the old CD vendor who sells mostly oldies. 

Korean oldies are available in cheap packages.  

For anyone who wish to look for antiques and oldies stuffs..Dongmyo Market could be the place to go.

A Glance Stop Over @ Dongmyo Market (again:)

I was on my home from Friday prayer before picking Eyra from home. I still got one hour left and I thought of going to the flea market at Dongmyo. And..I was also thinking of buying a second-hand DVD player^^ for we got tens of DVD movies to see but no device to do so. Okay..back to the Dongmyo market. The last time I was here..was like...yes...last year on Autumn. And I think it was early in the morning. But this time..it was a broad daylight where all of the peddlers, merchants, shops, knick-knack sellers were all woken up to 'shout' and 'chant' their best tricks to lure customers or passers-by. 

It's a bit hot that day..but boy...the smell of vigor and people's visceral enthusiasm were visible right there. The green leaves and the colorful parasols(?) un-mistakenly show us that it was indeed summer. 

Did I get my DVD? oh, well..I sure did..for the best bargain price. 

Luckily it still works just fine for a second-hand stuff. (*pride*)

Dongmyo 동묘앞 Station: What's in there? (part 3)

i AM BACK. now...let me jot down what these pictures are.

This is one shop at a small alley at Dongmyo. This alley sells imported snack from all over the world. Though they are suspiciously-strange-looking snacks, people do buy from these stores. I mean...this morning I saw a 1,000 Won for 5 cans of assorted peanuts..which to my surprise...it cost so cheap because the expiration date was well...in one day more...(Les Miserables). anyway...it's still a good place to find some exotic snacks that I never dreamed of finding....or let alone enjoying.

Another facade of the market is the fishing rods. Yes, some shops do specialize themselves in selling fishing-related gears.

Then..these knik-knacks ..brick-a-brack of what I am not sure of...gee...they're really a lot to look at and admire.

I mean..we could spend more than an hour just to scrutinize every little piece of stuffs being tossed in front of the shop.

*priceless* for those who are into this stuff.

and..what in the heaven..are those? I bet they're electronic devices. I mean..why people sell those stuffs and  ..to give it a little twist...why some people do look for this junk? (for some they may look like junk, but for some, they're precious. Priceless. Worth-every-won of them to sell and resell and maybe....shaped or made into something new ...which later on end up on our life.

Then..what about all of these used stuffs, ranging from everyday gears like shoes or things unimaginable like used cables along with their dangling and broken piece of metal or plastic you could come up with...

And..wow...these are portable CD and VCD player (oh,,it's so '90s).

All kinds of old cameras, even a pink desk-clock...seems to blend in.

Oh,well..

What about used books? sure there are some at Dongmyo.

I once bought my first dictionary right here. (Korean-English dic). It cost much cheaper in big stores, for sure.

Then..off I went to some houses deep in the alleys...and on my way there..I encountered this globe. IT's my dream to have a home with one globe like this.

CDs and old cassettes....when they ruled the world. But, since then...Mp3 and other stuffs digitally shaped our world. So, it's kinda weird to find out that some of them are...

Trot singers. Yes...it's so mesmerizingly-interesting to see the old or golden time of their era.

Dongmyo 동묘앞 Station: What's in there? (part 2)

 Before taking a close-up look into what Dongmyo is selling to its visitors, I'd like to post the cloudy and chilly morning when I got there.

This is a bridge over Cheonggyecheon river that leads to the one of the so many entrances to Dongmyo flea market.

Today, the sky was a bit dull and gosh...it didn't quite what I expected... 

But it didn't dampen my spirit of exploring the market.

A huge load of I-did-not-know-what ...just passed me by.

I guess it's one of the typical activities there.

hmm a nice view to see some activities like this while people were just opening up their stores. 

A just-opened store..I mean they just finished putting the racks of used-clothes onto the front part of the store. Even the stores next to it were still closed.

They cost roughly from 5,000 to 10,000 Won.

Dongmyo has a market for themselves.

Then..I started to see some people bargaining or just looking at the items or collectibles tossed on the street. well, not tossed off, of course.

With the colorful leaves in front of the stores, I think it kinda gave me a different feeling of being in a flea market with style.

Dongmyo 동묘앞 station: What's in there? (part 1)

Got about an hour or two before my Friday prayer so I might as well take a stroll along the familiar station that I pass almost on a daily basis. (almost).

Yes..Dongmyo Station--which is famous for its knick-knack stuffs or second-hand stuffs sold cheap. Broke cheap, in fact.:) 

So...I was surprised to find this...wait..is this the one I had in mind?.

to some extent, it is. 

The autumn foliage still lingered on the trees at the Dongmyo Shrine (located next to the exit 3 of Dongmyo Station line 6). 

Okay, it's around 9.30 am so practically not many people were visible, let alone the opened shops that usually do their business.

now let's enjoy the contrast between the left and right sight of the street. 

A close-up rendition of what the wall really looked like. The pedestrian/walking path was not crowded. Even, just one ajumma was visible walking down on it.

After noon, this place is surely packed with lots of people and street vendors.
