Kuta Beach (part 1)

 

Finally, a family picture again @ Kuta Beach. Hmm..the cloudy afternoon let us spend the afternoon without any sunset picture:-) but, that's fine. 

We could still enjoy the beach, though. 

What I mean by 'WE" is Freya and Eyra who were busy playing with the sand. 

and..they did not stop playing....though they knew that they had no clothes to change. 

but...she did not budge. 

Freya was even more serious in playing in the sand. 

And the dusk set in. 

Still..they didn't even budge or bother...getting up to go. Gosh....

Monkey Forest, Bali (part 2)

Deep into the forest where a Balinese temple nestled, we found no monkeys on the ground. That's an eerie thought. I noticed that monkeys were either sitting on top of the trees or just avoiding the area. None of them touched the ground. hmm...wonder why. 

so, this is the moss-covered stone-bridge (God knows how old that was) we passed through to reach the temple. Even, the tree's roots seemed to get immersed and dwindled seamlessly into it. 

A rare view I could not see anywhere else even in other parts of Indonesia, I presume. So, this is so typically Bali-- a unique culture of its own. 

Koi ponds in front of the temple--yes..this is the very temple that nestled underneath the huge trees.  

There was this wooden platform leading to I-did-not-know where..since I'd rather not be too adventurous at that time..considering my kids wouldn't want me to. oh, well..let's re-route. 

there and back again...we glanced again at those trees with their roots dangling from above. 

oh..I saw someone was going down the path.....that may lead to somewhere. 

A small narrow path just next to a creek seemed to be adventurous enough for any thrill-seekers in a sacred place like monkey forest. 

But, for us...let's take a re-route...re-route...ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ..and Eyra already led the way. She hadn't had the faintest idea of why we visited the place. 

Now..this is something. On top of the monkey statues was a real monkey. 

Monkey Forest, Bali (part 1)

 

The second place we visited in Bali was Bali's unique forest where monkeys are the kings: Monkey Forest at the famous Ubud area.  Even before we entered the area, monkeys were easily spotted everywhere. Can you see some? 

This is the entrance to the forest. There are paths for visitors to explore the forest without having to be afraid of getting lost. 

After paying for about 20,000 rupiah or around 2,000 Won, we started off our adventure into the land of monkeys. But, Freya was adamant to beg us not to go in:-) 

But, Dear...of course we got to enter the forest. We paid for it..and trust me...you'd find something interesting inside. Freya sulkily agreed. 

hmm...just like other parts of Bali, green lush tropical forests were visible. It's so soothing to the eyes. Despite the tropical heat in Bali, we're content to what we're experiencing. 

We're warned not to bring any food or beverages from outside...lest the monkeys would snatch them from our hands. We got to  keep our belongings inside the tightly-zipped bags:-) 

These two statues stood at the entrance to the old Balinese temple lied beneath those trees. what trees? well...let's just go see it. 

These cow and elephant statues were surprisingly big.  

oh...so these were the trees...with their roots uprooting themselves ....out into the air...hmm eerie. and down there ...obscurely obstructed by the trees...I could see the temple. Okay..let's go.

Bali Bird Park (part 9): Bye-Bye Birdies

 We finally came to the end of our visit to Bali Bird Park.

But before leaving, we dropped by at a souvenir shop to check out what it had to offer. Hmm...interesting...but expensiveeeeeeee_:) well, expected. However, the paintings and the handicrafts were fabulous. 

oops...we DID not want to forget our moments captured on pictures, right? So...^-^ 

Ta..ta.....at first, we thought that we would not spend more than 30 minutes in the park...it turned out we spent like 2 hours of our time....strolling around the park. Yeach it was worth the price. 

Bali Bird Park: Despite its high-price (around 20,000 Won) !!!!, it is definitely a worth-visiting park for anyone visiting Bali. 

Bali Bird Park (Part 8): A Great Place to Visit? Absolutely!

A moment to cherish before leaving the park. 

Judging from what we'd seen, we could easily conclude that .......as a tourist attraction, Bali Bird Park was surely educational as well as entertaining.  

Cheers! Bye-bye Bali Bird Park. 

But wait...just as we thought it was over...we heard the chirping sound of birds commotion. hmmmm 

It turned out to be the feeding time for the birds. Yes...!! We rushed into a nearby designated venue where all birds seemed to flock into the area and perched on their (own??) perching-woodㅋㅋㅋ? wow..it's so up close and personal...even this blue Macaw didn't seem to get bothered when I took the picture. 

Hmm...all colors imaginable...live in this soulful creatures:) 

Yeaaaa....feeding time. We stopped to enjoy the moment and learned one or two about how these lovely birds eat. 

bye-bye Birds. Stay healthy, okay? 

and bye-bye lush green field....see you again.

Bali Bird Park (part 7)

Other astonishing features we encountered in the parks were the diverse types of trees we saw. I mean...as a native Indonesian..I couldn't believe it myself that there were trees I never saw before. Not that I saw lots of trees before...but...it's just plain weird that I knew little about it. 

About the one I was about to encounter...as I was walking following the kids... 

This ONE. I mean...what in the world are those? Those balls-like fruits grow on the branches of the tree!! hmm...too good to be true...but boy...I felt like...wait a minute...how come that I've been oblivious of such wonders. 

Eyra and Freya were gazing at herons...wait...storks..er...oh well....couldn't make it out!!  

We're back at the main entrance of Bali Bird Park. Those exotic colorful birds are on display. YEs...of course they're alive. I mean...they're so accustomed to living there that they seemed to enjoy the attention they got on daily basis.

Bali Bird Parks (part 6)

Cranes? nope. Storks? Nope? Pelicans..yup. They're wandering around a restaurant inside the park. Some of them were greeting us with their huge beaks....open. 

Now we got to cross over the lanes where the pelicans were right in our way. 

For the kids, they must've been a terrifying yet thrilling experience...having to face the birds in their sizes and height^^ 

Nope..we didn't have time to sit and cool off at the restaurant. 

Eyra...what did you just see? You looked shocked!!! 

One pelican was only a shy away from the kids. Wonder why though.. 

This is the only place where non-aviary exhibit exists in the park: Komodo dragons! (not captured in picture).
