Free Nightly Fountain Show...with NO one around.!!! and more..

Hmm..this fountain show is operated every night until the end of October.

And it's just 10-minute walk from home. But..NOT a single person was visible around it.

Located under the highway connecting Seoul to the eastern coastal cities. 

No matter how beautiful this might be...no one was around. 

Okay..yes..I may exaggerate it a little bit. Of course, there were people..but NOT many. 

Just a peck of people.^^ (anyhow...it's green) 

then..it's purple. 

then..it all became colorful. 

more colorful.

I just thought...hmm...maybe people got it excited when it was firstly installed. 

but...now that they got used to seeing it....none or not many are interested in seeing it.

How much electricity was used to operate this, actually..I wonder.

But...maybe that's not a concern..since the beauty of the neighborhood is the priority.

but..then...for whom this beautiful night fountain show then??? 

Off ..wandering off a bit farther.

until reaching another under-the bridge show. This time, many elderly citizens were watching what seemed to be an under-the-bridge busking. 

This is the bridge.

Yes..cultural activities are everywhere to be seen if we just know where to go.

Or even if we do not know...just tag along the streets or stream just like what my wife did.

Driving Out of Town @ Chuseok 2014 (part 2)

 

The scenery just awed me....we're dumbfounded by the sheer simplicity of the scenery.

First, thanks to the 'NO'other (close) cars visible right in front of us. 

The trip to Gangneung was incredible. We're on trip with the radio crews of Indonesian Open University for a membership training..

gosh..that scenery...was simply stunning. I could imagine that it would've been way much prettier in autumn. 

The bright day...really helped up boost our energy.
We're pumped up to enjoy the trip.

I guess..this is what I call a 180 degree change of life cycle. After weeks..or being 'squeezed in the city' we're finally on our way to enjoy the nature. 

Oh...what a gorgeous mountain that is.

Wonder how far that is from here. 

again...I already imagine it soaked on autumn leaves.

Driving Out of Town @ Chuseok 2014 (part 1)

First day of Chuseok...and we drove out of the city towards Gangneung. 

What an eerie (no..just kidding)...what a great day for driving... 

not many cars....and we felt like...was it really Chuseok? where's everybody? 

I bet they're already home. They arrived yesterday..and not many were on the lanes. 

which then..gave us a whole great time of our experiences of driving... 

While my friend, mas Khoirul, was busy driving...I never let my phone go into my trousers pocket. 

Kept the phone ready for camera-perfect picture....^^ 

Gosh..what a wonderful day....in Chuseok 2014.

Going Back to Seoul from Daejeon

On my way back to Daejeon with mas Khoirul (my colleague from KIST), we stopped at the rest area where we encountered a rather amazing spectacle: banana tree. Yes, we saw banana trees..the real ones....outdoor. 

Two years ago, I saw banana trees inside a warm botanical garden. However, these ones were special, I assume. 

The rest area (휴계소) looked pretty much like this. A lot of effort must've been put into this place... 

Because, not only that it served the need of food&drink along the way, rather..the management intricately put so much effort in designing and decorating the area. 

Then..off we went agian on the high way..that led us to Seoul.
Since the car we rode in was a huge one that could accommodate as many as 9 people....we're happy to know that... 

we could just tag along..tailing right behind the bus on the bus-only lane..^^

Hmm what a great way to drive,then.

I remembered having to make sure along the way that mas Khoirul did not fall asleep while driving.!!!!

oh...what a job! But...being a navigator competing with computerized GPS-enabled device...was something. Really.

Seonhae (West Coast) Highway 휴계소(hyugyeso) (A Rest Area)

I was going back from Daecheon to Seoul via west coast high way that links cities in the western coastal area..way up to Seoul. It took us app. 3 hours which was pretty 'nauseating' if you did not know what to do during which.

so..as what most trips do...we also did stop at the rest area. 

Oh, there were massage chairs. But, you got to pay for it. Oh, swell...";) 

Out into the parking lots, apart from (of course) cars and cars being parked, I noticed that not many people were using the outdoor..considering the 'heat' that day. 

Even a windmill stood alone unnoticed. Had I not been intrigued by the long bridge that --later on as I found out--we had to cross in order to reach the mainland, I wouldn't have noticed it, either.

Okay..let's take a snap of it.

Yup, that's where we stopped to take 20-minute rest: Ocean Park Resort. 

Oh,please..I wouldn't consider it as a resort, though.
