Bali Bird Parks (part 6)

Cranes? nope. Storks? Nope? Pelicans..yup. They're wandering around a restaurant inside the park. Some of them were greeting us with their huge beaks....open. 

Now we got to cross over the lanes where the pelicans were right in our way. 

For the kids, they must've been a terrifying yet thrilling experience...having to face the birds in their sizes and height^^ 

Nope..we didn't have time to sit and cool off at the restaurant. 

Eyra...what did you just see? You looked shocked!!! 

One pelican was only a shy away from the kids. Wonder why though.. 

This is the only place where non-aviary exhibit exists in the park: Komodo dragons! (not captured in picture). 

Bali Bird Park (Part 5)

Although the pond may look small, but it houses several kinds of birds of different species. Yes, they roam free here.  

We could even see them up close and personal...and the amazing part was the fact that they were not even bothered by visitors. As I found out, most of the birds were hatched in the park that they became so accustomed to living with 'humans'. hmmmm

Hmm..I didn't do enough justice to the real beauty I captured with my 'eyes' 

Yep...once again we encountered freely roaming birds (gee..wondered what they were) as we're about to enter different zones.  

Some birds are (of course) caged in quite enough enclosures to make sure that the birds are comfortable enough??? I guess so. Okay..we're about to enter  the exhibit of Java's endemic birds .

on our way...we caught a sign about this show. too bad..the time's not right...(and.. I read some reviews calling it a must-see show...) oh, well... 

From afar, I caught a pic of a commotion..and wondered what... 

What would a visit to Bali Bird Park be.....without going to Bali's very own birds exhibit??? 

This exhibit turned out also features large enclosure that enable birds to fly and roam free. oh..I snapped a shot of a bird perched on top of what looked to be moss-covered  brick temple. 

Bali Bird Park (Part 4)

What I liked most about the park was its close resemblance to the birds' natural habitat. Yes...I wondered how they managed to do this. 

I mean...so many lush trees..which are mostly well groomed to cater the needs of both its 'residents' and its visitors like us. 

It's cassowary....I think. One of the many exotic birds visitors could encounter at the park. *Looking at the 'construction' inside the enclosure, I could see that the top of the building was moss-covered and some plantations seemed to 'sprung' out of it --which indicated one thing...they look so naturally grown for years.

Even the walled-fences circling the park leading its visitors to other parts of the park were also not moss-free...which once again....became something of interest. I love the natural ambiance of the place. Now we're about to enter the Sumatra to see the endemic birds of the island. 

Off we went to Borneo. 

or....Papua rain forest. Yeap...this is how the park is divided. We could get lost (for a few minutes) if we did not read the sign carefully.

Bali Bird Park (Part 3): Green Fields Where Birds Roam and Fly Free...

Bali is truly different, indeed. I started to understand why the park dubbed itself as 'Heaven on Earth', well...the picture above does not (yet) reveal what it would be like... 

neither this one, since this only shows us that we could explore the park by tagging along the trails provided. We could venture on Indonesia or Africa's journey...and start our journey.  

and..to our surprise...we first saw the first jaw-dropping atmosphere that the park offered. We could see pond and pelicans roam freely. I thought that the park would mostly show the caged birds we could only see from afar.  

but..boy..oh boy...it's completely different from what we thought. It's beyond our expectation. The kids loved it. They were about to chase after the pelicans...('tis a good thing I noticed them and...had to stop them from doing so:-) 

Instead, they're sort of imitating how the pelicans flap its wings and dance...^^ 

Human and avian world collides.:-) ㅋㅋㅋ 

Some people were sitting at the benches provided in the park and simply sitting there...enjoying the natural wonder that the park offered.

Bali Bird Park (part 2)

 

With lots of activities to do inside the park, we felt like ...we needed more time to explore the whole lot of it. Even, taking picture(s) with birds like this one took us more than 15 minutes or so..since the kids turned out to be enjoying it. 

After some awkward moments, Eyra and Freya finally got the hang of it...how to handle birds on their hands and palms.  

now...that's what I call 'having fun, gals' 

Now, it's family TIME. It's my second time ..taking pics with birds. I remembered having it first in Brisbane but of course...it's a kind of different experience since now I did it with my family. 

The first thing I remembered about this was that...the blue macaw perched on my wife's left shoulder seemed to be a little bit aggressive...and boy...it made noises. 

Okay...this was a great start to explore the park--I thought.
