DIOR: A Journey through Time

I got a privilege to see Dior exhibits in its first week after opening at Seoul's Dongdaemun Design Plaza.

As we entered into the first section of the exhibits, we saw a rendering of Dior's house in Paris.

..thanks to the digital video mapping.^^

...then...as ventured into the house, we saw a silhouette of quintessentially definitive Dior's Lady.

...yup....unmistakably. ...we're entering the world of Dior's.

...as I turned my eyes, the very same mannequin turned its colors as the lights shone dimly onto her.

...fast forward....a line up of dressed up mannequins in Dior's haute couture greeted the visitors. 

yup...we're at the right venue....

to explore the wonders of Dior.

More excitement. ...ahead....for a newbie like me.

DIOR's Extravagance of Colors

Another section at Dior's exhibition that sort of epitomized its sheer grandeurism...

all...captured in detailed illustrations...

...moving pictures on wall-mounted displays...

...all sorts of gawn...dresses. ...imaginable...

even...the names themselves...well....it knocked my brain out.

Salome and her feminine friends...

...so colorfully crafted...and ...intricately created.

so much....that I kept on clicking my camera since the backdrops turned out to be giving different lights so as to make the dresses appear stunning.

...then...I came to yet another eye-popping displays of kebaya-like dresses under the artificial blue-sky.

still...they mesmerized the bedazzled onlookers.

not to mention...the displays of roses in colored paintings circulating the exhibits.

hmm....Dior in its grandeur.

....and...at some parts of the walls, there laid bare opened...the jewelry. ..Dior's signature.

all in all...this is a festive of colors.

...just imagine...the price. ..or better yet... DON'T^^

The Black and White of Dior

Actually..there are no terms as black-white in Dior's world....but..I use this term.simply because of the colors revealed in my photos.

the mannequins in Dior's haute couture. ..

lined up in one straight line illuminated by the ever~moving flashlights....

at times....it's the darkness that seemingly took control...

with...a long zoom...I sensed something....

a kind of equilibrium in both worlds: people watching and the mannequins posing.

....black and white....dark and bright.

I let myself walk until the end of the so-called catwalk....

when I was intermittently. ...awed by what I saw afterwards....

the world of purity....of whiteness...

....arrghh....so beautifully adorned. ...

as if we're walking throughout the historical journey into the mind of Dior's.

Lavishly Intricate Dior

All makes the spectators awed.

Seeing is believing...especially when we see them.up close.

this exhibit really transported me into...

another realm I've never been to before.

It's simply because I'm not a man of fashion myself...

I'm just a passer by who was suddenly thrown into these exquisite displays...

of what the fashion world knows as haute couture....*hope I spelled it correctly.ㅋㅋㅋ

The journey as arranged by the creative team behind this exhibition is intricately meaningful, for everyone.

even for me....who know nothing about this lavish design.
