Mama Surprised me with BLACK FOREST!!!

It was almost 11 pm when I got home...when I found Mama preparing. ..sort of garnishing the black forest cake....and...couldn't have been happier to find my favorite cake right in front of me.

It was so tempting. Some strawberries on top. Cream on top....with irresistible flavors and scent. ..if I may say so.

Thank you Mama. You made my day. In the morning you surprised me with your signature yellow rice....and at night you did it again with another signature of yours....black forest.

Morning Snack @ Home Sweet Home in Kediri

It's January 30th. Meaning..it's 10 days before I got to leave for Seoul again. So ..that being said..I always made the best of each day to enjoy everything during my stay being back home...and how could I do that? Well, every morning..Mom always prepared some traditional snacks I used to have when I was still in Kediri. 

Those colorful snacks are made of cassava with coconut milk. And the brown donuts-shaped snacks were made out of nangka (jack fruit).  

Onde-onde or sesame balls, banana-leaf covered glutenous rice, yellow rice, fermented cassava, and other...well...I can't remember the names..but mostly that's what I remembered though.  

This is the dining table or at this hour..it's breakfast table. Eyra just woke up and she greeted me sulkily ....wondering what I was doing with the camera at work. Well..dear..your Daddy has been capturing every moment we spent during our 3-week vacation back home. Oh...those three pictures of us..hanging on the wall. 

me, my younger brother, and younger sister....our memorable high-school pictures. Were they taken for school album before graduation? I guess so. But...gee....I forgot that I used to have hair...ㅋㅋㅋㅋ At times I can't believe it myself....

where have all of those hair gone:-) 

Iftar/Buka Puasa Bareng at Home (part one: the food)

It's Friday and the day we planned on having a fast-breaking together had finally arrived. We invited seven Indonesian families and single students (^-^) who live along the line 6 subway^^. Yes, we are the line 6 families. Since our kitchen was not big...we squeezed ourselves to fit into the kitchen while preparing for the food. 

Even we made some food on the floor since there were no other tables around.

Chopping the veggies and other ingredients..... 

But although we could call it a make-shift kitchen...we managed to make several kinds of food for all of us to enjoy. 

Spaghetti (with Indonesian sauce^^), veggie-filled tofu, yellow rice, urap (coconut milk-ed salad, seasoned steamed tofu, egg rolls, potato sambal.... 

oh...some fried veggie rolls and shredded cheese, too. 

It's all now..gone. Just pictures....

We enjoyed all of them. 

But....I haven't mentioned one thing: some chopped and shredded beef were also mixed into some of these food....and that's not my kind of food.

*being a vegetarian.....* totally...

Nasi Kuning in Ansan

First time ever that I went to Ansan, a 2-hour ride into the southwestern part off Seoul city. Some still considered it as Seoul..but not for those who live there...since it is a bit kinda small town....where mostly small or medium sized enterprises are located.
Got to see and taste the town myself..since I heard that there are lots of Indonesian restaurants there. I was right. As soon as I got off the metro, two different guys were approaching me....and gave me pamphlets of their newly opened Indonesian restaurant.
The names themselves vary: Barokah, Kartini, Batavia, Garuda, Lea Original, Warung Indonesia, Prambanan, and many other things.
The simple reason as to why I went there in the first place was because...
I wanted to eat Indonesian diet...

so, I was lucky enough to have nasi kuning or yellow rice.
It was relatively more expensive than Korean food back up there in my campus (hehehehe). But, the idea of making it as a nostalgic or a shooting step to soothe the longing for my country's staple food...I might as well end up eating it with gusto....because it was delicious.....more than what I expected it would be.
There are lots of other Indonesian food that you can name.
Soto, empek-empek, krupuk udang, es dawet, es soda gembira....and ....other imaginable food you may have tried before.

since I am a vegetarian, I gave up the rendang (beef) and gave them to Wawan whoe instantly felt the sparkle his eyes because it was cool.
Oh, the price of one plate of nasi kuning was only 6,000 Won.
Worth the price? I think so.
