Amsal 'Assassination': rollercoaster yg biasa-biasa sj tp mudah diingat

Akhirnya aku jadi salah seorang dari hampir 8 juta penonton film berlatar belakang sejarah Korea saat jaman pendudukan Jepang ini. Yup...secara komersil memang luar biasa film ini krn baru 2 minggu sdh hampir 8 jt penonton!

 Phew...filmnya benar-benar bikin capek karena selain hampir 2 setengah jam, ada 3 bahasa yaitu Korea, China, dan Jepang dlm. dialog dgn rentang waktu dan time lapse yg bbrp kali bikin saya secara pribadi bingung.

Tapi kuberi 2 setengah bintang dari empat bintang. Memang bikin deg-degan sih bagaimana mengikuti intrik sepak terjang para pejuang kemerdekaan, pembunuh bayaran, dan pengkhianat berseteru dlm percobaan membunuh panglima perang Jepang dan.anteknya saat jaman penjajahan.

Hmmm...ada twist yg mengagetkan di tengah-tengah film serta lavish set design dan fashion yg benar-benar memukau. Untung ada ini, jika tidak...maka film ini akan biasa sj. Tp verdictku adlh bnyk orang Korea nonton film ini krn bnyk sentimen.anti Jepang yg msh kuat bersemayam di Korea. 

Recommended? Ya jika Anda suka film berlatar sejarah walaupun.bnyk bumbu bumbu di dlmnya demi kepentingan komersial.

PHOTO TICKETS: a Cool Way to REMEMBER Movies We Watch

Yup...we know that CGV offers this special memorabilia for the moviegoers. ...but we simply never use it until today. So...to remember what we saw....we printed out our pictures on a photo ticket.

Then...today I took the kids to see the latest Disney-Pixar's much-talked about animation: INSIDE OUT!

We deliberately printed these out so as to make these tickets as souvenirs as well as *memorabilia* to REMEMBER and store the memories into our brain^^

It's an esay thing to do....with only 1,000 Won each.

Night at the Museum 3 & the Upcoming Big Hero

I had a date with my second daughter, Freya. Yes, we watched movie together. Her sister, out of the blue, did not want to go see the movieㅋㅋㅋ. So we ended up watching 'Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb' just the two of us. 

박물과이 살아있다 or how the movie is translated into Korean 'The Museum is Alive' was premiered in Korea on January and since Freya kept asking me to take her to the movie...oh, well..so here we were. 

@ CGV. the nearest one to our home: CGV Hagye.

She said that she liked the movie though some scenes did scare her.^^ 

and what about the "BIG HERO"? Yes, it's gonna be released on January 23.

Hmm..for kids movies...Korea is always left behind from Southeast Asian countries..I don't know why..

I guess because most of them are dubbed hmm..or maybe..they are released for vacations.

I guess...if it's not vacation, no kids movies are allowed ㅋㅋㅋㅋ just kidding. 

but wait..that's always ....happening....and keep on happening.

How to Train Your Dragon 2

After a week since its release, Eyra and Freya asked me to take them to the theater. This time...it's Dragon time. Yep, they watched the first one and this one seems to excel as well. Eyra wouldn't have been so excited, had om Kiky and tante Nia not come to join us. Since there were not many seats left...I got to purchase the tickets online so as to confirm our seats. 

There were 6 of us watching the 'HTTYour Dragons" on IMAX.

I thought the IMAX at Yongsan was the same height and size as the one in Wangshimni CGV..but boy...I was wrong. It's not even half the size of the latter. :(

But..luckily the HTTYD in 3D was amazing. 

and oh...just a day before...."Guardians of the Galaxy" was also the one movie I did enjoy.

Oh child....^^(one of the OST's title) still lingers on my ear.

other 80's songs dotted during the movie really got me hooked to the movie.

What a MARVEL movie. I love every bit of it.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (혹성탈출)

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes: OMG!! OMG!! OMG!!

I was helplessly shivering throughout the movie. It really captivated me down to my spines. It DID NOT fail me. In fact...I got to close my eyes...a couple of times due to its gritty intensity.

The action? wow...and the drama..yes..the drama...the intensity of the drama portrayed in the film is so powerfully on par with any great drama that worth our attention. 

I managed to see it on its first day of screening, July 10. It definitely worth-the-admission. Although most of the characters in the movie are motion-captured...I didn't find any single complaint..since they are so real. yes..flesh and blood. I felt like I was watching the real human and ape and other simian families mingle in one screen...doing their greatest rivalry and contempt against each other right before our eyes. 

I love the fact that this movie managed to bring the depth of what being human means and what being apes mean....and it brought us to think as to whether we are any better than our simian fellows!! 

All of the characters, the CGI, the story and everything IN the movie is what a summer blockbuster should be. Gosh..I highly recommend to anyone to go see this movie.

Oh, btw..if you haven't seen the 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' ..go see it, too. well, to get a glimpse of what the background story of this Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

I was left with AWE once the film was over.
I cannot wait for the next BIG installment of this franchise.

The Raid 2 (레이드 2) is on CGV

Finally, the much-talked about Indonesian movie 'The Raid 2' is in the theaters across Korea. Although this release is way too late compared to other countries since it was originally premiered on March, this is still a good start for the die-hard fans of gore-action movies---> ME EXCLUDED. ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ 

Among those three movies: I will skip RAID 2. ㅋㅋㅋ since I am squeamish to blood.

But...the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes..and How to Train Your Dragon 2:bring them on! 

The Raid 2 is now showing at selected theaters across Korea. I heard that this movie lovers had been waiting for the release of Gareth Evan's 2nd installment that garnered attention since Sundance Film Festival last year. So...I hope that those avid lovers for such a movie would get what they hoped for. 

As for me, although I am not into this kind of movie, I am happy to know that Indonesian movies are getting worldwide attention, including in Korea like what is happening right now.

Bravo for the team of this Raid 2. * gee..I wish I had enough bravery to see the 청불 (adult-only) movie like this. 

On Rio 2 (Again)

I just realized that I promised Eyra to get her the Rio 2 merchandise ....only to find that they're sold-out. Hmm..*sigh* I wish I'd remembered making THE promise. Anyway...so it went like this..to compensate what I did I took her to the cinema (again) to let her decide if she wanted to see the movie (again). This time in Korean, of course.  

Well, at first she was so excited of having heard the idea of re-watching Rio 2.  

But then..she told me "Dad, it's okay. I don't need those stuffs." 

But, what about re-watching it? She said, " Nope, no need to, either"

*I was just like "oh..."

Bye-bye Rio 2. 

Broadway Lotte Cinema @ Sinsa Station

No class for today and while waiting for my Friday prayer...ㅋㅋㅋ I managed to watch a movie 'The Grand Budapest Hotel' which received raved reviews on the net. I'd been wanting to see it but didn't find any time. So, as the time let me..I searched on the site that not many theaters were showing it any longer except a few. And the nearest one I could come up with...was Broadway Lotte Cinema located at Sinsa Station at Gangnam area...hmm not really included into my daily dosage of adventurous time. But, anyway..I got to go there. As it turned out...Broadway...though seemingly glamour as it may sound...It is NOT. In fact..it's a small theater..more like a home-cinema where each theater can only accommodate up to ..well....70 persons, maybe? or was it only the one where I watched the movie? 

I didn't know. I should've taken more pics but time didn't let me.

Anyway..it's a good experience to be there since now I know where to look at whenever I want to see independent movies.

Yes..it turned out that Broadway theater ..as the name suggests...offers us a chance to see Broadway musical ON the SCREEN. 

Oh my my...why didn't I know that before?

hmm...well, of course..You Tube has been my companion to sneak into Broadway ( the real one)..bu the thought of having a chance to see it on bigger screen...is enticing.

Hmm....planning on a next trip to Broadway Lotte Cinema, Suray?

Amazing Spiderman 2

Finished my midterm...and what a better way to 'celebrate' the fun?

Yup, the Spidey was waiting for me:)  

The nearest one was at Lotte Cinema near home.

Okay..the 2nd edition of Spiderman really had me swooned.  

*gee...what a narcissistic way of 'celebrating' your post-midterm test*

#Aha Moment: What a Huge Poster It Was.

Was walking out of the cinema after the screening of Captain America: The Winter Soldier... 

and encountered this huge poster of 캡틴 아메리카 hung on the lift-hole of IFC Mall. 

Yes, Korea was one of the major markets outside US for wide release of Hollywood movies. I didn't know why..but I guess..it's simply because of the big market share that this country has for foreign movies, esp. those of Hollywood.

Oops...Happy B'Day from CGV?

yes..it's March and B'day-month. So, the other day...out of nowhere and beyond expectation, we got a free big-size pop corn and two cokes of our choice to celebrate the B'day. Sure...거절할 필요가 없죠? Why not just take it with a smile, then?

ㅋㅋㅋ Yes, I could be oblivious to the fact that for all CGV members, one free snack like this ....once a year is hard to resist, right?

And what 's the fuzz of taking this picture? I knew that as soon as I traded it back to counter for the popcorn...I'd never see this piece of congratulatory note again. 

I was right. Yes, Grabbed my free popcorn+cokes and there gone this pink-note of Happy B'Day. THank you, CGV. A simple thank-you note is enough.

Watching Disney's Plane with eYRA & fREYA

 

YUP,They are now officially having winter vacation...until March next year:) oh My GOD.

well, of course. me included. I just started my winter vacation this week, too.

so..to give them a surprise ...I took them to the movies which happened to screen the supposed-to-be summer movie this year:)

But in Korea, it was deliberately distributed this winter! and of course in Korean.

 

like any other kid-animation, most of them are dubbed into Korean language. Well, since Eyra and Freya are now just like any other Korean kids who talk in Korean ^-^..I didn't have to bother looking for the original version of this Disney's Plane or 비행기 (bihaengki) in Korean language.

 

and..what could be more interesting for them than...having two large cups of drinks and sweet popcorn ..a combo set ....to accompany them watching the movie.

Wel...actually...it IS NOT the popcorn that they wanted...they just wanted to have the plane characters attached on top of the lid.

hmm...marketing DOES indeed 'robbed' a lot of money out of every parents' pocket.

Even..the movie ticket is WAY cheaper than this Combo Set.

oh, well.....

and I just bought them a book from Youngpoong Bookstore.

Super Bad 2 = Despicable Me 2

I am sure that most of my friends back home would surely not understand what I am talking about when I mention "Super Bad" being the title of an animated movie.

But.."Despicable Me"!! Yess..everyone would nod in agreement that it is a must-watch movie to date. 

My second time already in a week to see the same movie!

first time with the kids: a dubbed version.

2nd time with my wife: the English version.

oh...man..how much would it cost then?

well, if we happen to be able to watch it during morning show,

 it only cost us 5,000 won each!! 

She finds it hilariously funny and entertaining.

Glad that we did watch the movie, right?

Thanks for the swarming army of Minions who have captured our hearts.

And it cost us only 10,000 Won for two.^^

Well, it's an early morning show.

Yes...we were searching hard for the theater that played an English version.
