Om Wawan & Tante Ulfa's Last Friday Prayer @ Itaewon Masjid

 

Friday, January 16, 2015 was the last time om Wawan went to Masjid Itaewon for Friday prayer. We've been going here on Fridays together. He finished his Masters and graduated from Korea Development Institute. It means..they're leaving Korea. oh, by the time I wrote this blog, they're already in Jakarta.^^ 

Tante Ulfa, Om Wawan's wife, has been accompanying her husband for almost 3 years in Seoul.

Since this Friday could be the last time (at least this time) for us to meet, we took some pics...^^

along with mas Ahmad (광운 대학교) and his wife (HUFS)..and our friend, mas Syarif (Hanyang University)

so...selamat menempuh hidup baru di Indonesia lagi, Om Wawan and Mbak Ulpe.^^

Terima kasih telah bersama kami selama 3 tahun, ya.

Sampai bertemu lagi di Indonesia atau di mana pun. 

Tunggu saya, ya..agar segera selesai program S3 saya di HUFS.

The New HUFS Cyber University Building is On Its Way to be Opened. When?

It's summer already, I mean summer break for most of the students in campus. One thing that students will see as they return back to campus this coming August of September (2013) is the new facade that will surely change the way HUFS looks like from up front.

I took this picture a few months ago in Winter 2013.

Then, I took this picture back in 2012, late Spring. I guess. This is a tall partition that would separate the on-site construction with the outer part of the campus. 

I jotted down a post about it.

Gosh, it's been a year since this project's been going on. 

and..then..it was on July 19, 2013. A year has passed and the building is (to my assumption) 90% ready. 

Some finishing touches to the outer facade, exterior and interior as well (probably) is underway. I wonder what the functions of this building. I mean, I know that it'll be used for mostly the new HUFS Cyber University (as I learned a year ago). But, will it be the same?

Can anyone use the building or classes within this new complex? 

Anyway, I won't try guessing.

I spotted a truck with a crane on it craning its ladder to help some workers clean up the newly tinted glasses.

* As for anyone who might wonder as to why I am posting this kind of pictures? first, I study at HUFS and I just love taking pictures of everything that may have something to do with me and my surroundings.^^

It's part of how I keep the memories fresh and alive.

Post-Presentation Dinner

The first mid semester thesis presentation just finished and as a convention, we had dinner together to celebrate the completion of presentation. Some of our friends had finally finished their 1st stage of a series of stages before the D-Day to thesis defense. Our friends from Tunisia, Tawaded, just finished her 'turn' on presenting some parts of her thesis. Well, at least she is relieved to know that the first 'stage' had just passed.

Then..it's dinner time... 

But..oh no....we went to a chicken house and I could not eat meat. Being a vegetarian and as for Tawaded, she's not a vegetarian....but surely she could not eat it as well since it is not halal. So, instead, we had veggie porridge and pumpkin porridge that --not so surprising--my friends on the same table wanted to take a chance to taste them. Oh well..it was fun.

The passing Spring....

 Spring has passed us by. It's now officially Summer. Yep, Summer. But, my entry is not about Summer, yet. I just want to make sure that I could jot all of the pictures we took during Spring into the blog. ....well, as many  as possible I guess.
These are all the pics that my family took during the heyday of Spring (just two weeks ago). Gosh, imagine that.
the breezing cool air has passed us by without a trace.

Ok, first...this is the pic that we took in front of the campus main building. I guess..it was about 4 pm and the little fountain that dotted or 'garnished' the front facade of the building was still playing. Eyra loved being there...

 Then, came along her sister...Freya who joyfully joined her big sister to take a' snap' of pic at the same spot.
One thing that one would notice would be how serene it was at that particular day.
well, of course ...I had no slightest idea as to why not many students were visible on that day.

To some parts, it kinda gave us a chance to fully make the best use of the park--should it be called one.

See....the best part of it all...
being the care-free child in the world of fun..














And...oh..the flowers, yes.
The sakura that dotted sparingly indeed gave a nuance of being in the real Spring.

Who could've  or would've resisted being in the company of the Spring like this...
None...

This 'small path' leads to the main building.
The marine blue(?) banner welcoming Mr. Obama was still there hanging up on that day.
...^^ I did not know why.
But, for sure...as I am writing down this entry....it was not there, of course.

 Bubble.....
One of the inevitably requirements when the kids go outside.
So, that day too...the kids did not forget to bring along their bubbles.

What could be more tempting for them .....than....creating bubbles in the midst of cool air and flowery surroundings.


so, start did they.

And the world became their own.
Absorbed in the world of their own...
they spent some time inside the 'mini' park
blowing the bubbles off

* in this picture, the sky looks so bright and 'whitey' ....or grey....
but

here....the sky looks so brightly blue, and yet I do not know up to know why it was like that.
the white flowers were like gleaming and smiling right back at the girls. 

At times, this picture reminds me of the short-lived Spring that passed us by a few days ago.
Still vividly remember the smell and excitement we had the first time we embraced the sunlight in the springtime.




Back with the kids, they were a bit tired (no....unseen in the pic above). Then..off they went to the place where it all started. They thought that they would still be able to see and play with the whirlpool or water. But, nope.....

Like....what I mentioned earlier...now they had to be back to where it all began...
they thought that the fountain would be still splashing ans spurting the water out...
but...it was already turned off.
I guess it was about 6 pm or so.











So, they were just looking at it in dismay.??
No...not in their vocabulary.
Still...they found some kind f way to keep enjoying what the front yard had to offer.

this group of students was throwing a friend into the mountain.^^
Did it work?
Oh yeah..
it was a funny and pretty neat thing to do...

No, it wudn't have started yet..either...

And...the kids seemed to have found their energetic spirit alive once again.
They seemed to always some things to do and  enjoy...

this is .. what it looks like when you are always longing for the perfection...^^

HUFS in Spring

Walking down my campus last week. Around 9.30 am on Sunday. Despite its being warm, no one was visible. The main building stood majestically facing the other buildings in front of it; on the street of Imundong I could barely see any activities at all. Indeed, Sunday it was. But, what got my mind tingled was the fact that the huge banner welcoming Mr. Barack Obama's visit to our campus was still on its place in tact. It's been like two weeks since Mr. Obama visited our campus (last week on March); still the campus still adorned itself with the banner hanging on the main building. I came to think that there must be some reasons as to why it is still there at least up until last week. Yes, once again, the visit of Mr. Obama to this campus meant something.  

 Then, another reminiscent of what had changed or beautifully transformed in my campus was the specially designed flowers that created 'HUFS' sign with these. Nice touch. I thought it was gonna be used during Mr. Obama's visit only. But, I was wrong. I think the campus look cool with it in all seasons. Be it Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter, should there be any chance of making the campus look cool and warm (like this one), I am all for it. Hope the flowers will live to the test of time. As HUFS-ers, the student alike must keep and preserve them, right?

The bright blue sky in one Sunday morning in the early Winter (imbued by the rendering flowers) did give me some warmth that day.
