Ansan City Downtown

I was having my class outside the classroom since my students forced me to do so...out of habit due to my birthday!! And the only it-place they knew best ..of course. .none other than the downtown of Ansan city.

It was packed jam...jam packed. The venue really oozed me out...but the food was great..which was a plus. 

The building where the Lotte Cinema located was the venue we chose out of so many places to choose from.

Salam Ramadan from Ansan, Korea

Indonesian migrant workers and Indonesian community in Ansan were celebrating the Ramadan with a concert. In line with the current issues, we also made the concert into an outlet to collect some donation for our beloved friend, Benro, who's diagnosed with cancer...and also...we waved the awareness among our fellow members about the current issue happening in Gaza. Save the Palestine movement was also one of the highlights of the concert. 

Since it's carried out in an open air stage next to Ansan Migrant Center, lots of people did come in and participated in the event. 

Our friend, ms. Uswariyah, was interviewing one of the directors of Ansan Migrant Center during the event. 

As for me...the selfie-freak....., Aris, me, and Awan...were selfie-ing ourselves with the concert as the background. 

Crowds. Music overheard. Bazaar. Ramadan. Summer. Fun. Togetherness.

@ Smartphone Shop w/ Friends

Friends: me, Nila(?), Ditta, Sofian, Benro.

We're at one of the smartphone shops in Ansan--visiting one of our friends who works part time at the shop. The owner was so nice to let us hang around for a while.

Hmm..what's up with the chair, bro? 

A pose ...for a model-to-be? boy band? ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ..not in a million years! 

It just so happened that one of us was looking for some smartphone. Well, since one of our friends is working there..it would've been a great idea to give it a try...who knows...we might end up getting a good deal plus bonuses.^^

That's what friends are for.

Seen from afar, the people were so excited that even the crowds at the back would not just stay put..they're trying their best to get a glimpse of what the show was about.

One Indonesian Day (Part 4)@ Ansan

One Indonesian Day..One Indonesia Day...oh, well...I should've learnt grammar.

Again....I got to be there for its 2nd time. Only this time..it's mostly indoor so it's bearable. 

But for my wife, Meity, and her fellow friend, Ulfa, they were so busy serving the customers who ordered pangsit, mie goreng, es buah, siomay, and bakso....

One Indonesian Day (Part 2): The Beginning

@ 13.10 pm. a throng of people gathered the Ansan gymnasium where Indonesian Day was held. thousands of people kept coming and going out during the event. Now listen..

Living in Korea as migrant workers do not hinder them from having a kind-of-extracurricular that might just work for them. Like these guys' passion for taekwondo was also shown at the event...and a round applause was like heard across the hall.

More and more people were coming in. 

Let me be one of your friends. Eyra made friends already with the students who happened to visit there, too. 

Since we were sitting on the balcony or the side-section of the spectators hall, we could see the whole session of each performance hassle-free.

Eyra was always easily entertained. 

The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia gave a welcoming speech in the intermission of the event, followed by the anthem of Indonesia sung by (most) of the audience.

Indonesian Restaurant in Ansan

Another entry about Ansan town.
It was my first time to Ansan.
The first impression was that....it was not like being in Seoul where Koreans dot the place.
This place felt different.

The first notion and 'sight and sound' that came to my mind was that....it was more like in international melting pot where lots of foreigners just mingled and got in touch with one another freely. The streets were dotted with lots of nationalities.
....
I was greeted by a person who handed me a brochure about Indonesian restaurant called ' Prambanan' I bet he judged from my looks that I would definitely be Indonesian. And He got me right.
After all...the reason as to why I came to Ansan was to find an Indonesian restaurant to have some back home dishes..that I miss.
Since I am a vegetarian..I was thinking of eating tempe or tahu (a kind of tofu)...and lots of veggies. It served me right. I got some nasi kuning.( the story was posted on my previous entry).


I found the street a bit dirty in Ansan.....
It's a good thing that the sky was blue and the temperature being cold......those two things had somewhat helped me disregard the a bit nuisance of having to see not-that-clean street. Well, it was comparatively clean but not that clean as the one I used to see in downtown Seoul. Anyway...this is another story.
