Being a kindergarten kids looked so fun after all. 

It has been a wonderful 2-year school time for Freya @ Hwigyeong Kindergarten.

Yes..it's been 2 years since Freya got enrolled at a Korean Government sponsored Kindergarten.

And..the time has come for the final show of kids' achievement or fun during the 2-year school year.

This is a video showing Freya and her friends' performance.

What a great night indeed.

I was not able to attend the whole procession since I was in Indonesia back then. 

But..judging from the pictures and the video...boy oh boy...^^ 

They sure did have a great time.

I think the teachers did a great job of .......training patiently...^^ all of these cute little kids.. 

But...hey..the kids themselves do have some talents...^^ 

The best part of it all..is the fact that they learned a great deal of having to collaborate with others. 

The perfect harmony...

and the efforts put into it..is enormously beautiful.

Freya's Weekly Round Up

Freya's education routine is a theme-based program which outlines its daily activities for the whole-week. We receive the program prior to the incoming week so as to give us ample time to prepare in case we may need to bring something to school.

Like this week, we got to prepare Indonesian map or any Indonesian pictures or stuffs we may find at home to show them to Freya's friends at school. Luckily we have some batik and batik-painted fans as well as a map on Indonesia. 

As for the previous week, Freya was learning about Korea-related stuffs. She brought home a Korean mask and mugunghwa made from clay.

And..of course, she also jotted down what they were.

자꾸 자꾸 화 Just like Freya...^^

 

On a weekly basis, on Mondays, Freya has a chance to borrow books and makes a report on it. Surely, all the books are in Korean.^^ Well, she reads, speaks, and writes in Korean now.  Last week, she borrowed a book '자꾸자꾸 화' a story about a kid who always gets angry whenever things get wrong or in several other occasions...just like Freya (usually) does. She finds herself in the book. ㅋㅋㅋ

That's why she really loves it. 

She did learn something from the book. Now that she knows how her frowned face could trigger an endless chain of events as depicted in the book...she now changed a bit. At least...she now tries to control her emotion. 

And another book ...ooops..the picture.

Anyway...books really help kids to learn, especially if they could discern (with the help of parents, of course) about the literal or even implicit messages out of the story.

Bubble Show @ Freya's Kindergarten

Summer vacation has finally arrived. But, before that...the school prepared pre-summer activities that included 'bubble show' at the school's auditorium. The invited performer did a good job of entertaining the kids and their parents.

Oh, Freya was granted a stand-inside-bubble gift for being 'nice' during the show.

Right after the show, the kids and their moms were ushered into the classroom to start 'making' their lunch. Yup..that's what they did.

A Visit to Freya's Kindergarten (part 2): Golden Bell Game

  

Golden Bell: For Koreans, it's a famous quiz-based game in which participants are usually high-school students competing to answer 100 (?) questions ranging from various subjects they learn. But, since it's a kindergarten-level,..what kind of questions that we encountered? It's hilariously funny. 

The kids had to sit on the floor with one parent sitting behind them. And, as the real Golden Bell game, they were equipped with one grab-able whiteboard and an erasable pen to write the answers down. 

Oh, did I mention that I WAS the ONLY Dad coming to school? Of course, most of the Das must have been working in the morning and for me..being a student has its own privilege. I was free since I had no class on Fridays. So, it's a surreal feeling to be surrounded by other kids' Moms while I was--againn--the ONLY Dad present. 

Kids had to write down the answer by themselves. As for me, it was also a good chance to see Freya write all of the answers in Korean alphabets (Hangeul).  

She was enthusiastically following each question and answering them in a timely manner. And..boy oh boy..what a crowd. It looked like a real Golden Bell game. 

Freya..way to go, girl.^^

The question was shown on the TV screen while the teacher was reading them out loud.  

As soon as the question was read, Freya took no time to answer it. She seemed to know what the answer'd be.   

Here's an example of 'funny' question that cracked me up..but surely enough to entertain and make us learn one or two about the school as well. 

"Who's among these people is someone's working at our kindergarten?"

(1) Tobot  (2) Pororo (3) Elsa (from 'Frozen), and Mrs. Song, the director of school. 

See what I mean?

And..this was what happened...they were excited..and getting more and more excited as they were eager to know what's coming up next... 

(1) Robocar Polli is fire fighter (True or False)  & (2) What is medicine (약) that we consume at home on a daily basis? *Answer: 치약 (tooth paste). 

Yes, the question and answer sound to be so illogical in English but it DOES sound sensible in Korean language. ^^ 

Or a question like where to call when there is a fire? Is it 911 or 199 or 114. Hmm..^^

it's one of the must-know basic survival number in Korea that even kids have to know. 

All kids managed to get through right up to the final round and that meant...each of them got three vouchers of free time at the school.

Oh, well, whatever it was...this parent-kid day at Freya's kindergarten really showed me an insider's access into what my kid has been doing in the class.

Simply love it.

A Visit To Freya's Kindergarten (part 1)

It's parents-participatory-class day. We left home early so as to reach the school earlier. There was something different we saw on the street as we exited ourselves from the subway. It's a sight of women clad in blue and others in red which seemed to be 'working' for someone's vying for the upcoming regional election in Korea.  Ok, anyway...let's resort to the kindergarten...

As soon as she entered the class and put her bag and stuff at her locker, she picked up something..and started making something.  

So, today's goal was to invite parents to experience and see what their kids do on a daily basis at school. First, it's a morning greeting session where kids took turn to introduce themselves. 

Then..came up the freely-choose-your-own-activity. Kids asked their Moms (or Dad) to see and aid them do what they wished to do. 

They all grouped themselves into corners or tables designed up for 5 kids and began their select activities. 

As for Freya, she decided to make a book of her own. A dummy one, of course. But, in the eyes of the kids, the books they made out of paper and scraps did manage to get them absorbed into what they'd chosen. 

Then...off she went to draw something... 

,,playing with bricks with her Mom. 

and making 4-D ball made of plastic and paper.

@ Lotte World With Freya & Her Kindy-Friends (part 1)

We arrived even before 9 am and OMG people were already queuing!!

But, it did not budge us since we were (no no....SHE was) ready! 

See? was it winter that most of them wore black or dark-colored jackets?

but one thing for sure: their soul or spirit is not dark!! 

Oh, it's 9 am in the morning..and NOT a single other person was visible IN THIS picture!!!! 

Dadaa.....Freya bumped into her friends..and then...there it went the chaozzzz.....I just couldn't keep up with them.. 

Before long...they're ready to explore the rides.... 

First ride: The Sinbad:) 

kids didn't expect what they would see... 

First..it was a great ride.... 

Then...the scariest part(S) came along one after the other....enough to scare the kids..away. 

But in the end...the bright and colorful world of Sinbad was uncovered... 

Then...let's go into other rides....
