Birthday Bash^^ @ Class

Nope...not this one. These were some pizza, carbonara, and fried cheese eggplants we ordered when my students sort of kidnapped me out of the class and forced me to have the class in a restaurant on my birthday^^

This is another surprise party..well sort of...when some of my students at Universitas Terbuka Korea burst into the class ....bringing in a cake!! Well...I couldn't have been happier.

Though I wondered as to whether being 41 should be celebrated. ...but the thought of having been surrounded by great friends and families. ...made me think that it is indeed worthwhile....

yes...I am thankful of having more than juat good friends around.

Alhamdulillah.

Eyra's new Bike

As her birthday present...we bought her a new bike that she'd been wanting. That means..her old bike is now her little sister's. She chose her own color--unquestionably ...pink.  

Since I didn't have enough time to choose from so many collections available, I just asked her to get the one she'd laid her eyes on..and she just did. 

After an-hour or so...adjusting and fixing some non-functioning gears...., the bike was ready be used. 

She's so excited, for sure.

More Birthday Bash..this one's a traditional way!

Is there such thing as a traditional birthday bash? Of course there is...^^ in the sense that most of the food we prepared IS traditional. 

Okay..the news spread that Eyra was having her birthday on April 20. Since she had friends..well, her Mom's friends and automatically mine as well....who happened to live just a few minutes way by subway..on line 6.....we might as well ask them for dinner at our place. 

yellow rice, dadar gulung, tempe, tahu, sambal, sambal goreng sapi, and some fruits.... 

And there were around ten of us..having dinner together. 

And we had one more guest, a new family from Malaysia who just arrived two months earlier to our neighborhood.  

So..here we are. From left: Mas Ahmad (from Malaysia and family), mas Khoirul (from Jakarta and his family), my wife, and then.om Wawan and his wife. and me? 

Yep..count me in..count me in. 

And..guess what...Eyra got two more unexpected presents. 

and..more toys: only this time..it's different from what she had before. 

It's a bit princess-ey:-)

Happy Birthday, Daddy: Gifts from Eyra & Freya

Two days prior to my B'day...Eyra and Freya were hiding in their room..concealing something from me. (I bet they're up for something and I was right.). It turned out that they made these pictures as a B'day present for me. First, this is Freya's drawing. She always imagines 'B'day' as a party having a cake with the invited friends celebrating. and..oh..some presents, too. (But, Dear...would that be necessary for your Daddy?)

What you did is more than enough.  

Then, as I flipped the paper, I noticed another piece of treasure. She jotted down these words. It's simple, yet..I know how much she put her heart into it. 고마워, 프레야. 

Then..I got two other pieces of paper. One from Freya and the colorful one from Eyra. Yup, these are my B'day presents from Eyra and Freya. 

Nothing flashy or fancy about it....but the fact that they DID something for my birthday is beyond words. I love you, too, gils.
