From Gangnam~Konkuk

Got a recording session.at Gangnam...phew...so faaaarrr from.home.

Just finished at 8 and hadn't got my dinner. Just kept on walking..to the nearest subway station...while as always capturing the moments.

Cars lining up.....going home I suppose.

Gee....the wide and relatively clean pedestrian like this is an envy to most Indonesian cities!!!

Arrived at Konkuk Univ.station...and managed to peek into the streets/alleys around the station!

Yeah...I heard that 건대입구 is one of the happening places in Seoul.

So many entertainment spots to be...

But of course...I couldn't stay there, I got to transfer to Line 7...heading back home.

*hmmm...at times I hate transferring at subway stations. 

자전거를 타보니.... (part 3)

Phew....건국대학교까지 도차했다. 보통 7호선을 타고 갔는데...이번 기회에는 그냥 자전거를 탔다.

좋은 날씨에다가 건대입구역 근처에 있는 모습까지 볼 수 있어 신기했다.

외국인 눈으로 본다면...모든것이 늘 색다르게 여길 수 있단 말아다.

참으로. ...괜찮아. 물론 단 대에서 볼 수 있는 동네이지만....자전거로 숨을 수 없을 정도로 여기까지 와 보니까. ...

평범한 거리도....사진으로 찍을 만한 풍경이 될 수 있다.

Bravo! ASEAN in Korea 2013 (part 5)

 

Indonesian Team picture, posted on one of the pillars at the entrance hall. 

Other countries' photos were also posted on the pillar so as to give a clue of what the guests were about to see. 

As I entered the theater, not many people showed up, though. Well, it's not even yet started. 

But, judging from the layout of the stage and its lighting as well as the backdrop, I was pretty sure that it'd be one great show of ASEAN member countries.  

The first team to perform was Indonesian team, named 'Saiyo', who performed Minangkabau dance--West Sumatra. 

All of them are students who reside in Korea.  

They're members of KTTI (Kelompok Tari Tradisional Indonesia) who practice every Saturdays at Indonesian Embassy in Yoiudo.  

I guess what they do really paid off.

They do show highlights of what Indonesian culture is all about.

Thanks to them..Indonesian youngsters can play their share of loving the traditional culture of their own--even while they're away from home like in Korea.

Bravo! ASEAN in Korea 2013 (part 4)

I met with other friends from Cia-Cia, Sulawesi. They happened to be in Seoul for 9-week program(?) of learning Korean language. Oh, not all of them, though, some of them are my friends from HUFS.  

With tickets in hands, we're ready to see the show. 

Funny how I met them here while in campus ...rarely do I see them.

So..

this was a great time to pose together, right, guys?

The 5th Bravo! ASEAN in Korea 2013 was an annual event co-hosted by ASEAN, Korea-ASEAN Center and of course, the embassy of each ASEAN member country.

What would be a show in Korea without K-Pop??^^

well, as a guest star, 100% showed up to surprise its fans. 

Well, seeing the manicured boys wrapped in seducing dance numbers....was like..okay...I got to see more! 

I was deafened by the screaming from all directions around the hall...even my wife was screaming...simply because she was carried away...ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ 

Then, along came the appreciation award to all participants. 

Some dignitaries like ambassadors or deputy in charge...were present that night. 

The Indonesian team with the biggest number in size received an appreciation award. 

the ceremony went on for about 30 minutes or show. 

and then...Fan Favorite Award went to Thailand team.

chuka..chuka...

The whole theater at Konkuk University's Millenium Hall was packed with people who really wanted to enjoy a night full of colorful portrayal of ASEAN country members. 

And this was it. 

I think I was pretty lucky to sit on the front row. come on Suray....lucky?

see that you're obstructed by the camera crane that was just right in front of you?

oh, well.... 

Then..another cool ceremony came along.

it's a Ruffle time. 

As many as 12 give away prizes ranging from headset, I-pod, computer, and vouchers...were given away...for the lucky spectators. 

Then..a group picture of all contestant. 

So, Eyra, Freya, and Mama...did you have fun? 

Looks like they did.

Seeing my friend's exhibition @ Noam Gallery, Insadong

Position 2. That's what it's called. the theme of the exhibition.
The other day..I learned that my fellow friend was having an exhibition in Insadong; along with his other student-artists from Konkuk University.
Wait...! Insadong: the very place where art galleries dot and occupy most space?
Yup, I heard it correctly.

My fellow friend, Rainur Pria--being the only foreigner among all-Korean others who exhibit their works of art--must be so proud of himself and as one of his friends, I could also say that I am also the proud one, especially after being able to witness and to be there in person.

As I was there with the artist himself, It would've been meaningless had I not taken a picture with him.* Thanks, Rain, for explaining (some) details/rationale behind your works of art. 

I deliberately asked him to stand right next to the exhibition poster so as to show that he's really into it. Look, Rain..your name's on it!!! 

Hmmm..actually..I should not have taken any pictures. But this picture was taken as I was on the stairs leading to the gallery. My bad....I just hope that it's okay. I harmlessly had no slightest idea of putting it as a violation of copyrights or anything. I just want to make it as a little of remembrance or token of gratitude for having been able to be inside the gallery.  

With Rainur Pria, the artist himself..it couldn't have been any better.

Congratulations, bro! I think what you did is splendidly awesome.

Well, hope to see more of your works in the future.

Rainur created some sort of 'darker tone' in his title since the three pieces of his artworks were:

'Distorted Mind' and 'Silent Pain'

Hmm...I wonder what are behind the lines/picture/video.

I wonder what Rainur is trying to convey through his arts...
