Staying @ a Pension

Gee..it's been more than a month since we stayed at his pension. Even..I forgot the name of this pension we stayed at during our autumn trip.

There were 8 of us!

So..a pension is surely a logical and cheapest way to accommodate a trip like this.

Not to mention the kitchen that we could use to cook! 

Tante Yuni was so intrigued by the simplicity of the kitchen that she wanted me to take a picture of her in front of the kitchen set before we ruined them.^^

Yes..it's clean and simple...coz we hadn't used them, yet.^^ 

The kids seemed to forget that they'd been playing all day long. They kept on playing once they got into the pension. 

And..indeed...it's different from our daily normal life. 

Yes...as good as it seems to be...there's no way that I want to have THESE and THOSE in our daily life. It's enough for one night...to sort of 'escape' from the daily dose of normalcy. but..this? 

They all look warm, okay. but...hmm...too crowded. But..did we enjoy it? yes..since it's only for one night only:) 

The kids snuggled into a temporary bed right in front of the TV. *sigh*

Chuseok Morning: Kid Having Their Breakfast

Yes...it's Autumn, officially.

There's this one particular tree outside our pension that showed this bright color...

was it naturally like it or was it because it's autumn that it had its color? 

ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ they just woke up and....what?/they're ready to eat?^-

Chuseok Outing @ Sanjeong Lake (part 2)

Wheres' the lake? well, we didn't actually stay at a pension near the lake, we're just in the vicinity of the lake. Still, the pension is livable enough for as many as 20 people! 

But now...we needed to have our lunch before heading towards the rafting activity!!! 

Right next to the place where we had our lunch, a small creek was flowing. The water volume was subsiding...but...the kids loved it, still. 

okay...let's go meet the juin (owner) of the pension and got our deal done.

We needed to pay for the pension fee and the rafting!!

hmm..nice! 

While the adults were waiting for the bus that would take them to rafting site, the kids got their outfit changed and ready to play in the creek.

What about other things the boys did while waiting?

They're playing sepak takraw--a combination of football+volleyball.

then...off went the kids into  the ankle-deep creek.

and we let two Daddies stayed with them...

while the rest of us....-->> Go on a rafting!!!

Gyeongju Summer Trip (part 8): Pension Village

What a colorful block of houses. Pretty neat. They looked more like Lego blocks: and that's what makes it even way cooler to look at. 

Freya, Eyra, and their Mom were passing a house with rice field right in front of it. What a way to live.  

This is what I mean. I wonder if this rice field would stand against the time and against our greed of setting up more buildings (e.g. pensions). I hope that they just let it be like this. 

Oh. we saw one of the pension (which) used to be a location for 1박2일 (One Night, Two Days) TV Show in Korea.  

Another greenery in the neighborhood. 

Eyes soothed. 

Mind cured.

Gyeongju Summer Trip (part 5): Staying @ 펜션 (Pension)

First: it was a good decision that we chose to stay at a pension. Second: we're lucky to have a discounted price for this pension for two nights. It was \ 110.000 although the original price would be \1400.000 during weekend or peak seasons.  

Pension served us well since there were six of us. Two families. So..the idea of staying at the pension seemed to be a perfect fit for our trip.

There were enough spare blankets, mattress, pillows tucked in the cupboard...ready to use. 

The living room or family space is spacious enough to accommodate all of us. 

Oh, this kind of pension  allows 4 and up to 6 people. Should there be more people, we'd be advised to use the bigger one.

There was an attached kitchen and for that..we'd packed rice, snacks, and other ready-to-cook ingredients for our trip. Yes..that's the whole idea of staying at the pension. 

Okay..the kids loved the ornaments and the wallpaper of the pension...though frankly speaking ..it's a bit girly polished for me.  

Even a vacuum cleaner was provided. Eyra found her newly found toy and she played along with it...well...I asked her..since it'd be better off to start our first stay here by making sure that it's clean. Well, to start with..it was clean. 

Then..we had our first dinner. Oh, yes..it's already around 6 pm and we decided to give ourselves a neighborhood look-out after dinner. 

The whole interior of the pension. So, one room, one kitchen, one living room and one bathroom...enough for 6 people. 

Comfy? well, that's relative. but...for us..it's comfy enough.

Pension: Not like what I thought before

 it never occurred to my mind that the word 'pension' in Korean would mean something else. or maybe I am the one who just happen to e unaware of its word's other meanings? OH well, anyway..what I want to write here is the fact that I stayed on a 팬션 or pension 'a so-called rental house' easily found across the peninsula.  

This is the housing complex where houses called 'pension' were located. I was in Jeju and stayed there for one night. It was located next to the beach, just 3 minute walk and I could reach the beach. But, too bad..it was so cloudy and the wind was gushing in so fast that we could not even look out of the window:) 

After some time, though,..the sky was clearing out a bit. I could catch a clearer view of how the houses looked like. Wow...I loved it. It was so much different from the apartments in Seoul. I loved it right here. It sort of reminded me of back home where houses like this dotted the real estates back home in a tropical atmosphere.

Well, since it is after all in Korea, I did not need to expect any bed or something like that. Instead, I just have to make sure that it offers what it should: ondol floor and of course fold-it-and-use-it mattress. Comfy, though.

Another look from my room. The next house looked like that...and with palm trees everywhere...and the sound of Jejudo's uniquely whirling wind...no other setting could be more perfect than this.^^

Gosh, I wish I stayed like in this kind of home back here in SEOUL.
