Pick-Up Vendors...Mushrooming.

One of the common sights in Seoul...at least...is the existence of vendors...or street sellers who sell their stuffs using pick-up trucks, like the one I see everyday near my house....it sells almonds, peanuts, chestnuts....

Hmm...this one...is not selling anything. ..but ...delivering beers to the bars and pubs. I took this pic today at Itaewon...while walking home from Jumatan.

Oh....I also encountered the bric-a-brac. ...plastic ware. ....household stuffs.....piled up on a pick-up truck....waiting for any buyers.

Or....vegetables on the go!!!

Or....fruits...all wrapped in plastics.

anyhow...these are just small samples of what the pick-up truck 'businessmen' are actually doing.

White Day 화이트 데이

I think this is what makes Korea particularly ....distinctively. ...different from most countries in terms of how they celebrate the hmm....romance.^^

If Feb. 14 marks the date when a lot of (not all) people in the world celebrate Valentines Day....in Korea, particularly, the festivities do nor end on February. ...it goes on into March 14.....with what they refer to as...WHITE DAY. 회이트 데이.

Lots of shops...convenient stores across the country make the best use of this so-called 'pseudo-consumerism' blurred in this psychologically  romantic mood of the people. ..especially. ..those who are in love...or think they're in love....oh well.....

It is gooooood for business.

happy white day....and...wait...it's not over just as yet since there'll be BLACK DAY.

주방가구거리 Kitchen Utensil Street,,,hmmm

I was passing down the road after getting off the bus at around Sindang station when I bumped into this cute signage. It says "주방가구거리" or literally means "Kitchen Utensils/Furniture Street"

wow..my wife's gonna love this, I said.

But then..I changed my mind as this is a bit far from home. anyway...managed to take a picture of the signage in the midst of chilling winter:) *though it's not officially beginning, yet. 

Then..off I went on and on until I found another signage that struck me as funny.

Well, what's in a name. 

It's simply a name..but it's just hilarious for some who might know what the word 'haram' means.

Guess..I can't step into that library, then.

*a smile on my face warded off the cold weather...^^

Pepero Day (agaiiinn???? already?)

Gosh..it's 11-11 again. Pepero Day.

Gee..time flies so fast. It was 엊그제 같은데......... 

This pack of 5 Pepero (all flavors) cost 5,000 Won or about 50,000 Rupiahs. and that's how pricey it cost had it been introduced in Indonesia. But..luckily there is no such thing as Pepero Day in Indonesia...otherwise..that'd be a massive amount of money....(call it what you want: wasted? circulated?) 

Anyhow..This Pepero Day has been one of the conundrums that's been perplexing me since I arrived here 2 years ago. I mean...how could one single trademark occupies the single soaring sale in a day in Korea?

that must've been a huge amount of planned agenda be it from the makers, the distributors who mostly benefit a lot out of it.

... 

But..then again...it's a cultural thing..which I cannot do anything but..to look at, to scrutinize, to feel, to see, and most of all..to enjoy.... 

so..last night I bumped into the a bunch of seemingly high school boys who're so wrapped up in confusion as to what kinds of Pepero to buy. hmmm...girls must be so excited of receiving what these boys buy for them.

and...guess what? I am sure that their pocket money come from their parents...who I am sure...are aware of this. 

so...those boys are just a mini part that play the circle of Pepero consumption in one single day. Not to mention, university students, couple, white, and blue workers..and others....oh well..the list goes on....

*but all in all....* 

What can I say...all market..even the small supermarket chain like GS25, Seven Eleven, and others...are lining up to decorate their stores with what looks like a national event:

Pepero Day.

Should I say " Happy Pepero Day"?
