So....this is what it looked like from.across the street.

Was walking through the arcades of shops on my way to Ibis Ambassador to attend the Cultural Dinner.

The Girls' Shopping Spree...

 What would a visit to Seoul without Myeongdong?

Just like any other Southeast Asian tourists:-), my sisters-in-law also got their fair share of nipping into the much-hyped Myeongdong...though..well..it's a bit upmarket compared to the laid back Namdaemun...even when we talk about the prices. 

But, of course..we could savor the energy and the vibrant that this place offered, right? 

A drizzle may hinder some, but not for us. 

Oh, I still remembered that we went out for traveling or shopping or just sight-seeing right after picking the girls up from school. So, Eya and Freya were practically still tagging along their school bags! 

"What am I doing here, Dad?" 

Not much, Dear. Unless you got tons of bucks to spend^^ 

Ok..let's go home, then. 

But before that..the girls wanted to have some pictures taken.

DONE!

We're @ the underground Myeongdong before catching the subway back home...

and Freya was seen...munching something. Yeaap..she's hungry. 

She's like..lost in her own world of "Deli Manjo"=an emergency food for hungry travelers. 

Going back home....on the subway...and Freya got her wish: 

clinging on the hand-rail...^^like what adults do.

Myeongdong에 가자!!!!

We decided to take a night stroll shopping @ Myeongdong. Well, the reason was simple....it's a Mecca for fashion & cosmetics in Seoul, at least. And what did it have something to do with us? Well, it turned out that Rio and Wachid  sonsaengnim got to buy insurmountable amount of cosmetics ....as requested by their friends in Indonesia. 아하!!!!ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ!! 

So, here we were. Myeongdong.  

I was so tired of walking and walking for almost a day since the morning..that my right-feet became sore. and that's when Pak Tri did a massage on my feet. It hurt so much.  

Done with the shopping spree, we're heading back home since it's a little late for some of us.  

"Kongkow-kongkow", gee..I didn't know what's in it in Korea, but at least...we're pretty much enjoying our 'togetherness' in Korea. 

Jeonju Trip (part 7): Street Food

We found Tarae: supposed to be the royal snacks presented to the kings or guests of kings. Made of honey and malt and made into tiny fibers or strands...suggesting longevity.

Oh, it is easily found in Seoul, too, especially in Myeongdong or Insadong. 

This is what Jeonju Hanok Village looks like. The streets are not made of asphalt but tiles, the tiny ones.....:) hmm, interesting. 

Back to the street food, we can see how ta-rae is made right in front of our eyes to 'incite' our appetite to buy and taste them.^^ 

and boy oh boy...he just couldn't stop talking!!

I wonder if that's what the royal cook did while preparing the ta-rae to the kings:^^ *chuckles* 

The second street food we encountered is 모주 (moju) or Jeonju's low-alcohol fermented beverage; similar to makgeolli but...well..different. 

okay, back to the ta-rae that we ordered. We had chocolate flavor and green-tea ones (not pictured). Anyway...just look at the strands or fibers of this delicacy. These were made in a matter of minutes..or even seconds... 

and for other street food: well, like any other foods easily encountered at other vendors around the village. 

Eyra's Hour @ Myeongdong

Let's try putting it on. And the moment she put it on....she said she liked it.

Well..it's on sale..why not. 

So..she changed her outfit right on afterwards. Okay, dear..as long as you like it. 

The one-hour time we spent there and she got away with that that blue one:) 

Another summer outfit for her. 

Yup: one-hour, went it, put one on, got one, got home. 

Got Squeezed @ Myeongdong on purpose...

When was the last time I went to Myeongdong--a place dubbed as the haven or Mecca for fashion district (and now..cosmetic district) in Korea? Can't remember it myself. Being a not-really-into-those kinds of stuffs myself, I barely remember (if anything) me going there. But...I don't know it myself...as to why...at times...I was kind of compelled to drag myself to this pedestrian alleys. Anyway...this was one of the Myeongdong alleys on July 29 when I went there. 

Faceshop, TonyMoly,...and endless brands your eyes can feast upon....were all there. 

People kept on coming back+forth to this magnetic field full of worldly glamour. 

No one despises it, of course...

well, I don't. ^^ So...let's see what I encountered the other day... 

oh...sugarcane juice.... 사탕수수쥬스 (satangsusu juse). I should've asked where they got the sugar cane. Of course I had it back home and had one of these drinks occasionally. Not my liking, though. 

The fact that even the tropical 'sugarcane' even made a debut in Myeongdong only showed me one thing: Myeongdong IS the "IT " place to be..for a 'unique' and 'unfamiliar' drink in Korea. 

Uniqlo.....mannequins.
