Euphoria in the Snow...

As I was walking through the park, I spotted some peculiarities like this one. For me...it looked so peculiar though for others it may look a common thing.

...I tossed my umbrella and had an euphoric moment for a second or two...

...then...found another interesting...leaf...stranded alone in the white snow.

Reds in the Snow

On my way home from work...I decided to take a stroll through Youido park...and bumped into these red fruits...I didn't know of. Yet...they're intriguingly eye-catching.

...got myself closer to take a look...

....only to find myself drawn into their charms....so much that I forgot how cold it was actually.

...found some fallen ones...

...dug them out...and...realized how strikingly red they're in the snow.

...yep..this is how they looked like on the branches.

Let's Go To School, Freya!

It's winter and snowing. But, it did not mean that Freya was not going to school. In fact, she'd kind of expected or wait...insisted of going especially when the snow just whitened the whole neighborhood. 

With temperature below 0 degree Celsius, she was still as enthusiastic as she was on any other day;-). In fact, she loved making footsteps on the snow--which she described as making crispy sound on the snow. 

Luckily, we wrapped her in bright colorful outfit so as to give a contrasting picture. Otherwise, she'd be lost in the snow. Being a kid turned out to be having its own advantage of not having to worry of what to wear or  to think of what others might think of what we wear. :-) oh, well... 

It was taken on the deserted rail-track just at the back of our apartment.

So, this is your third winter in Korea, right, Freya?

CCC (Cute Christmas Creatures)

I was waiting for the movie to start @ IFC Mall. And..the only thing I could think of doing is ....getting a closer look at the massive Season's decoration right at the mall's atrium.

Never have I thought that secretly nestled and tucked among the decorations were arrays of cute 'creatures' to celebrate X'mas. 

White small white bear and white pony. 

I just couldn't let my camera do nothing while all the cuteness was right in front of my eyes.

A snowman family. 

A squirrel perched on top of a supposedly mailbox. 

A closer look at the rodent. 

Then..circling about the venue, I discovered two little bunnies. 

A squirrel bringing his pea! 

"Can you help me?" 

Then, the penguins popped along. 

Draped & wrapped in all festivities.

Another type of owl perched on a log.  

It just reminded me of Russian folktale...though I didn't recollect what. 

This is the whole are where the Season's decorations were laid out. 

As I walked out of the atrium, I was greeted by another decorative patterns up to the ceilings. 

From afar, they resembles see-through-skirts or headless mannequins. 

with the brightly lit lamps inside, they sure become one of the impeccable attractions at the rear entrance to the mall. 

and these two tree-turned pillars were other decorative features visible on my way to Youido subway station.

An Afternoon Visit to Sungkyunkwan University

 

Got an appointment at 3 pm with two sonsaengnim I know of from Sungkyunkwan University in Seoul. Got to be there with the kids as they would be the subject of photo session for our project. 

Well, this university is dubbed to be the oldest higher education in Korea since Joseon Dynasty back in the 15th Century...so no wonder that there were some historical relics still intact spread around the campus. 

As we walked along the campus lot, kids did not stand to trample on the freshly and naturally laid out snow on the ground next to the historical building--of which I should've known what. 

Just look at the bright colors they make!

What a perfect combination of winter colors!!! 

sometimes, I never quite understand why they're easily so tempted to get succumbed by the enticing power of snow~!!!!!! 

okay, let's go on ...kiddos!!!!!

Drenched in Snow (part 3)

The benches @ our campus park were also beautifully covered in snow. Nothing could stand the power of snow-white:)  

Wow...what an angle. Good job, Mama. 

Well..the seemingly clean and pure bench and its wooden table would be totally different once..the hands of two ladies...intervened what nature created. 

no...not this pic. It's simply a pic of our campus overlooking the baseball field. 

nope..not this one, either. 

BUT this one. Yes, my wife and her best friend, mbak Ulfa, turned out to be the mastermind behind what would be a....works of snow arts. 

First..this is it:) well, they thought of something like:"if we didn't make it to Nami Island this year, why not make one right here?" 

And Eyra....got herself intervened into the action... 

and put some snow ball onto the already-ruined wooden table. 

There goes the naturally snow-covered wooden bench!!!!!

*But, hey..the girls were having FUN!!!

Drenched in Snow (part 2)

A collection of pictures taken by my wife on her journey home:_) what a cheesy story. But, well..yes..it's true...She happened to be romantically fallen for everything with snow, not to say the least..anything with contrasting white backdrop.

First, she got to capture this lonely red rose.....beautifully immortalized in this picture.

looks so lonely...yet glaringly beautifully clad in glorifying red imbued with the white sprinkles of snow on its petals. (oh..NOOO...it's me who's become melancholic:)!!! 

all trees and used-to-be dried grass seemed to be forever lost....covered in white snow. 

Even the red fire-hydrant seemed to be helplessly fallen for white snow.
