Swimming in Winter?

Eyra and Freya just woke up. I could judge from their face that they just could not wait for a swim that day. It's Winter and yes..they were all ready to plunge into the great world of Ocean World at Vivaldi Park.
I teased them as to whether they really really wanted to swim in the midst of the chilling weather.

Apparently they knew it all along that the indoor swimming pool would give them as much excitement as it would be in an outdoor swimming pool in Summer.

A Culture Night at Vivaldi Park

Winter Skiing Trip could not have been better than this. The night after having all of the exhaustive skiing experience, the night's dinner and cultural show highlighted our trip as well. The great performance of an acapella group did steal the show. It was such a relief that not only Trote was being displayed, but another genre of music was also on. Bring it On. Just enjoy the video right here to see what I mean. 

Then, of course,K-Pop Cover Dance was also slurping into the main dish of contemporary Korean culture. Not to mention its catchy phrase during the playback songs, the audience got immediately up to their feet and some of them got it hyped over! An awesome night.

The third video is about my daughter--Freya--who seemed to be so tempted by the upbeat of Korean dance song...that she could not hold herself up....but to let herself go and moved her swing!!

Vivaldi Park Resort (again)

These are the videos I took when we were strolling around the Vivaldi Park at night. We were exhausted of skiing the whole day. But, the resort seemed to be so irresistibly tempting...for us ...just to let them slip away while we were sleeping. 

So, instead of going to bed early, in the midst of the Winter cold, we stepped out of our hotel room and rushed to find out that the hotel underground was full of entertainment for kids and adult alike. So, we had it covered. Skiing? check! Entertainment? check! Food? Sure!

Vivaldi Park at night

Since it was our last night of staying at the Condominium inside the resort, we might as well spend the night outside---despite its chilling and freezing cold.







So, instead of going straight to bed, we decided to take a stroll along the resort just to enjoy the night skiing. Before that, we went underground to check the mall where all of kinds of rides were available, too. It is a 24-hour underground city in its own.




Then, we came out again...

Well, the night skiing program turned out to be popular among youngsters who wanted to seek thrills.




It was about 11 p.m. and lots of people were still going back and forth at the skiing resort.
Of course we were just looking around.






The fact that the night (a cold one) appended the eerie-ness of the resort (in a positive term, of course) made it more challenging for thrill-seekers to try it out at night
We just took pictures!





Vivaldi park resort was just like a town of itself at night.
It was--as far as I learned--surrounded by the mountains and hills that dotted the area.











So, I kinda imagined it being the bright dot out in the middle of nowhere...somewhere in Chuncheon mountainous area.







I am still wondering as to what those people expected from having to expose themselves in the cold of the night .......wrapped in tights just to go on skiing:) But, I guess...this was just a murmur or a stupid ranting of someone who never had it tried:) ^^







well, still.......just by looking at it....it already made me shiver.
That's why......our night strolling time....did impress us.

2012 Ski Experience for Asian Students

Thanks to Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism (문화체육관광부) as well as to Korea Ski Resort Business Association (한국스키장경영협회), I could take all of my family to experience Ski at Vivaldi Park Resort.












Thanks to my university, too...for always providing swift information for its students to experience Korea. Through our office of International Affairs or One Stop Global Service at HUFS, I was informed about this not-to-be missed chance of taking a trip to a Ski Resort. What a trip indeed it was!

 So, the 3-day trip was worth-taking and a memorable one.
--( I posted some of the stories on my previous entries)--










This time, I just want to share the cultural night that was specially held for us.
Lots of cultural shows and an extravagant dinner were laid out for us.
It was indeed a remarkable night.

Lots of people participated in the event......for they did provide lots of presents, too.
We enjoyed the traditional such as samulnori and ...ahem...^^ Trot. Yes....trot songs were --I could say--the theme of that night's singers....
I was not into Trot...until that night.

Well....since it was a live show, the singer could somehow managed to steal the show by indicating that trot was not what people mostly think of: being its out-dated and not-that chic kind of song. But, through the show, I was --at least-- a bit agitated by the sheer fact that trot was fine,to. In fact...I kinda compare it with that of Indonesia's very own trot-like music genre: dangdut.!!!






Oh, we also got a chance to see Korean so-called modern/contemporary (mostly...nothing else than..K-Pop cover dance) of Korea. But, what stroke me most was the performance of an acapella group. One of the best highlights of the show.

Swimming during Winter?

Why Not.!
and..that's what exactly what our family did last February at Vivaldi Resort.

Eyra and Freya were excited!! They were already in their swimming suit...as soon as they woke up.^^

It was at first...too good to be true...but as things got clear...I got the idea as where we could enjoy the comfort of swimming in Winter.
It was an indoor water park with warm water!
Now I remember all of the ads I saw on the subways which depict the two-worlds that Vivaldi Park has to offer. People can do both skiing and swimming at one place.










I guess..the better route would be: just do your skiing first, and then end your day with swimming in hot or warm jacuzzi inside the Ocean World...which lies next to the Skiing resort.
What a nice offer it has!












So, Eyra and Freya could not resist the temptation of having to feel the warm water inside this magnificent indoor water park.

I guess...in summer it would not be this special...but, since it was WINTER...it became so memorable!!!

So, this is what Condo means and looks like.

Condo (Condominium) ....I suppose that's what it was.
We stayed for two nights at a Condo at Vivaldi Park during Winter skiing trip from 8 - 10 Feb. 2012.
Well, we would not have been able to enjoy the amenities of this Vivaldi Park's Condo, had the Ministry of Tourism, Sport, Culture of Korea not invited us to enjoy the Winter's beauty.
Along with other friends, we managed to be there to enjoy the best of what Korea has to offer--especially during Winter.

Now, I just want to tell about what we could do inside the Condo-term.
It was quite different from any averaged room in any other hotel. The fact that it has a kitchen --a modern one, complete with its heating pan, a sophisticated rice cooker that we barely knew how to operate it:^^..until two separate rooms we can choose ...as to where we want to sleep, either on a bed or on ondol-heated floor!


Actually, the first impression would be just :OK, it was just like any other hotel--that's what I thought.
But..then...as we got into it. ...it was no different from being at the comfort of our own home, for we can do whatever we usually do at home. The spoon? check. fork? check. plates? check. chopstick, knife, drying machine, washing machine, check check check......^^, even the fridge was a cool one, too.
Anyhow...we did not want to miss the chance of enjoying the amenities offered by the Condo at Vivaldi Park.

...........There is one thing left that still made me dumbfounded-ly speechless.......
the price: it was 330,000 Won per night!!!!!! Whattttt?????
Oh my my.....no wonder it was so good to be true.
But, I think it's reasonable...considering the amenities the Condo has to offer for its guests.
I guess...next time we go there...we should rent it with other friends so as to share the cost^^
whether I want to go there again?
Yes....you bet!

VIVALDI PARK RESORT

Vivaldi Park, the name itself seems to boast a wondrous world of musical journey whenever someone steps into it.


And it does.

I was there last week with my family for swimming and skiing.
Yes, despite the fact that this is a cold winter, the resort offers its guest endless arrays of entertainment and family recreation in one huge spot: Vivaldi Daemyung Resort.
Just 2 hour ride from Seoul, the vast and sophisticated resort indeed made our winter holiday a special one. We stayed in a family-size room where all of the amenities we can have are all prepared there.










Thanks to the Minister of Sports, Culture, and Tourism of Korea, we could enjoy the amenities on their complimentary.
It was marvelous.





the OCean World where my family took a dip in a warm swimming pool and indoor water park was....breathtakingly huge. The kids loved it soooo much.
As for me, I was glued in the memorable and hard-to-forget ski experience. Skiing for a tropical man like me is something that is wildly enchanting.
It was, indeed.
Seemed to be intriguingly challenged as to whether I would be able to nail it, but it turned out to be just fine. and hopla...I found it amusingly captivating and....better yet......intoxicating. I wanted to do some more.
