Eyra's new Bike

As her birthday present...we bought her a new bike that she'd been wanting. That means..her old bike is now her little sister's. She chose her own color--unquestionably ...pink.  

Since I didn't have enough time to choose from so many collections available, I just asked her to get the one she'd laid her eyes on..and she just did. 

After an-hour or so...adjusting and fixing some non-functioning gears...., the bike was ready be used. 

She's so excited, for sure.

More Birthday Bash..this one's a traditional way!

Is there such thing as a traditional birthday bash? Of course there is...^^ in the sense that most of the food we prepared IS traditional. 

Okay..the news spread that Eyra was having her birthday on April 20. Since she had friends..well, her Mom's friends and automatically mine as well....who happened to live just a few minutes way by subway..on line 6.....we might as well ask them for dinner at our place. 

yellow rice, dadar gulung, tempe, tahu, sambal, sambal goreng sapi, and some fruits.... 

And there were around ten of us..having dinner together. 

And we had one more guest, a new family from Malaysia who just arrived two months earlier to our neighborhood.  

So..here we are. From left: Mas Ahmad (from Malaysia and family), mas Khoirul (from Jakarta and his family), my wife, and then.om Wawan and his wife. and me? 

Yep..count me in..count me in. 

And..guess what...Eyra got two more unexpected presents. 

and..more toys: only this time..it's different from what she had before. 

It's a bit princess-ey:-)

More Birthday Cake!!!

Like I said..we didn't buy Eyra any birthday cake but they made cheese-balls by themselves. But then....the following day...Subin eonni (Eyra's tutor) paid a visit with a surprise cake for Eyra. *wow* Thank, you, Eonni.

Then..off they went to celebrate again the birthday...again.^^ ㅋㅋㅋ only this time...Eyra had a candle-blowing scene like any other birthday....^^ 

*again, it just showed that Freya...was indeed still a toddler ㅋㅋㅋ she looked jealous of her sister having to blow candles on top of the cake...so...after her sister did, then..it was her turn:-) ㅋㅋㅋ

Home-Made + Hand-Made Choco-Cheese-Cake Balls

We didn't buy a birthday cake for Eyra. Instead, her Mom prepared something more magnificent for the kids to spend another few hours at home while enjoying the fiesta and the comfort of our living room.--> yes, cheese-cake making time. 

First, they make cheese-balls out of the already-prepared dough that their Mom made.

Oh, they rolled them round and skewered them one by one into a small bamboo rod. *gee..don't know what to call them* 

Then..came the challenges: They got to dip the balls into six different flavors and colors. There were plain chocolates, banana-flavored chocolate, blueberry-flavored chocolates, sprinkles... 

It was a refreshingly new way of taking the kids into activity at home....making their own birthday cakes!!! 

They could do any experiments of flavors that could go with their own likings. 

Hmmm..sounds ..I mean...looks kind of eye-candy and eye-poppingly irresistible.  

And ..they would go over and over again..until all of the cheese-balls were evenly dipped and flavored. 

As for me, this is something new as well. Thanks, Mama..for having prepared this colorful way of celebrating birthday. 

now..more and more colorfully-decorated and half-dipped cheese-cakes were ready to be refrigerated. 

Yes, they got to be refrigerated for a while so as to give it a boost in flavor.--so Mama said. --> Yes, Ma'am.

And..since the kids thought that it would also be fun to just let the balls un-skewered:-) they just left them on the tray...--> hmmm, tempting and edible.

More on Eyra's Birthday

I woke up at around 4 to set these all up. I mean...since we didn't do any party for her..so I might just 'invite' all of Eyra's dolls. 

Stuck the present right in the middle of them.

Gee..I couldn't believe it that my daughter named most of these dolls. 

Okay..it may look so outrageous to do all of these in the wee hour ..right before she woke up. 

But..that's a blast!. She woke up to find out that we arranged a special day for her. 

With eyes a bit bloated from waking up....they're as excited as they could be...like any other kids who couldn't wait for the presents. 

Just when I was about to ask her open the gifts, her sister asked if I could take the picture....of her giving the present to her birthday-sister. 

and..the biggest of them all. Oh, Freya chose the present herself--on her Dad's wallet, of course....*<>* 

Although it was actually Eyra's birthday, I kinda felt that Freya was the one who'd been so impatiently, yet gleefully wrapping up the gifts. 

Oh....that's priceless.

Actually..this was not that impressive...but boy..it's impressive enough for the money...(in a good way, of course..coz it's 50% discount off..and off-the-season toy that's more than enough to put a smile on the girls' face). 

And it goes both ways...while the other section is for cooking, the other end is for beauty-in-the-making make-believe kind-of-toy.

Little B'Day Surprise for Eyra

Yesterday, she was making these two cupcakes out of play-doh which for me...was quite amazingly palatable and looks so edible.^^ 

She really has a knack for this kind of delicate-stuff making. A colorfully-designed cupcake. And..while she's busy making this... 

Freya, her sister, was asking me to take her to the store to buy some presents for her sister. She insisted on buying something for her sister..and even..she forced me to wrap the gifts on the spot...not to let her sister know what she'd bought. 

As Eyra was asleep, we decorated the sofa. 

and invite most of her plush-toy friends to the party.

Ulang Tahunnya Eyra

Just the two of us? well, not anymore. Daddy took the picture, Mom prepared the cake and Freya accompanied her sister-the birthday day girl to take a pose in front of the last night's cake.^^

Selamat Ulang Tahun, Kakak Eyra. Semoga semakin pintar, baik hati, sayang papa mama, adik..rajin sekolah dan....jadi anak dan orang yang selalu baik dalam segala hal, luar dalam. Amiiiiiiiiiiiiiin. 

Now, don't forget to blow the candles, there are 8 of them, but wait..the number-shape candle shows that it is 9?

Well, Eyra is 8 in Indonesia, and 9 in Korea. (strangely enough, it is true in both terms).

yes..yes..yes...the cake's all for me. (chuckles). It's April 20 and Eyra was celebrating her 9th birthday (well, she's still 8 if she were in Indonesia). Anyway....we were about to have the 'syukuran (thanksgiving^-^)' with her Mom and sister...but they were not around... 

so, we just let the blueberry cheesecake waive its charms to us. 

Just a bit of it as a token of gratitude. Be a good girl, will you, Eyra?
