Siomay....the Home Made One

Peanut sauce to dip. Boiled tofu, wrapped cabbages, boiled potatoes, sliced eggs, and fried dumpling wrapper.

This is what we call *siomay* a smashed fish fillet stuffed into the dumpling wrapper

I don't eat it...but I tasted it a bit.

Oh..it's a chillisauce for the 추어탕 which I HAD no idea of how it became what it is today...

Weekend's Commotion. ...

Yup...that circle came around again. Being a husband to someone who loves cooking and takes orders from customers....means one thing: I got to be ready to lend a hand mhhmm..two hands. ...to speed things up.

Today...my wife got to prepare lunch including its dessert for a 행사 somwhere in Yongdeungpo. Early in the morning...she's been busy preparing all of the lunch box....and what I like most is...

....when I could savor the dessert...like these oreo pudding!!! Yummy. 

Yup...this was this weekend's commotion...a happy commotion at home. ...a happy morning....^^

Bakso Cak Man @Jogja City Mall

Bakso.for me? Hmm...not really. I can't eat meatball...but I'm all for the noodle.

4 Kue dlm 6 jam!

...belum termasuk bungkus-bungkusnya. Phew...perlu manajemen waktu lg kayaknya. Yoi....bkn pertama kali ini sbnrnya....mama dpt tawaran bikin.kue. 

long story short...kali ini utk tim rombongan....jln jln ke Korea.

...ini hari pertama....belum yg berikut-berikutnya!. Utk first day....ada 4 buah yaitu kue pelangi, resoles, kue keju panggang, dan pudding coklat plus irisan peach.

yup...ini dia kombinasi warna dan bentuknya. Tg rasa?.semogaaaaa enak. ...krn boro boro.....krn manajemen waktu yg kurang....maka....hanya ada waktu 30 menit sblm SUBWAY terakhir datang tepat jam.24!!!

Ok....lain kali hrs dibikin lbh awal.biar tidak kedadapan ...jumpalitan....^^

Dinner with Mr Agus Family and Subin Eonni

What a surprising way to have dinner. I mean...we're preparing dinner for ourselves and of course Subin eonni who'd just finished taking the kids out to their favorite cat's cafe earlier that day.

and then our friend Pak Agus and his family came along. Well...of course it's partly planned and partly not...in such a way that we're simply ready to serve what we had that day. Surely enough...it's authentic Indonesian food plus home-made Korean dishes.

yeaah...mi ayam/chicken noodle, tubu cobab 두부초밥, banana and chocolate pudding, kue lumpur, etc.

While adults were talking and chatting over stuffs in mixed Indonesian, English, and Korean....the kids exclusively used Korean the whole time. 

Yup....they speak Korean the whole time.

The Invasion of Imported Snacks

Korea has been "invaded" by the emergence or let me call it "the sprouting up" of the imported snacks from around the world. I mean ...we can literally see...greet...meet...and...check them out at almost every corner of the streets around Seoul, at least..to the best of my knowledge.

and..of course...at subway stations!!!

They even registered their own distinctive names to differ themselves from others...although I could guarantee that 90% of what they offer is basically the same.

Despite its pros and cons....hmm..I love the fact that these shops offer unbeatably cheaper prices!!!

Oh...I can indulge myself in Timtam chocolate. ...in Pringles...in other sweets..I know and used to buy in Indonesia. ..and boy oh boy...these world snack shops provide them in plenty.

Martabak (Indian Pancake) & Bruschetta

Mama made an Indian pancake we call 'Martabak' in Indonesian. This one's full of cheddar cheese with chocolate sprinkles.  

Yes..we love martabak, especially in a chilly and cold weather like this. 

Since it's home-made, for sure we could add as much cheese as we wanted to. 

And bruschetta, too, Since we made it at home, we could give any topping we wanted to. 

A good midnight snack.^^

We Received Some Order to Make Some Snacks..

"no..not 'we', but my wife did. Gosh..it's a good thing that I didn't have class that day,so I could help out; otherwise she wouldn't  have been able to fulfill the demand.

no more task..without ever consulting..her ..her own manager..^^

We made kroket. this one's sambal (silly sauce) filled dumpling. 

and..this one's filled with cheese....or both...and cheese-filled dumpling, or even ...veggie-filled dumpling. 

And we also made some snow-whites.....^^we barely didn't sleep...so, the question is that....'was it all worth-it?"it turned out to be yes.

Black Sticky Rice & Mung Bean Porridge

Hmm...my favorite mung bean porridge.  

What makes it even more special is the way it is complemented with coconut milk and the black sticky rice that goes just right with it. 

I've been wanting to devour this porridge and when my wife made it for me..

I was like 'wow' 

thank you, Mama for making my favorite 'bubur kacang hijau and ketan hitam.

World's Snack Corner

We're passing through the corner of world's snack that seemed to be just popped out of nowhere at one section of Dongdaemun Culture Park Station. Since we're intrigued by what they offered, we thought of taking it a look and...okay...these were what we found.

So many choices of snacks from all over the world in half price or ...way much cheaper than those sold at supermarket or department store. (but...of course...I kind of being suspicious of its catch....^^, esp. as to whether they're soon-to-be-expired snacks or something...well..fortunately..they're NOT.) 

And...yippie...we encountered the Tim Tam chocolate wafer that we like. And one of the funny things we found out was that...these Tim Tam are those supposed to be sold only in Indonesia....^^. so, why are they here? How is that possible? or could I be mis-interpreting it? Oh..I also bought two cans of Biscotto chocolate that we even rarely saw back home in Indonesia...but eventually ...we bumped into them anyway...right here...at this world snack corner.

Bakmi & Nasi Goreng Pak Pele

For most Jogjakartans, Pak Pele is not unfamiliar. In fact, Pak Pele is a trademark for nasi goreng (fried fried)--the traditional fried rice prepared on a traditional stoves as seen on the picture below. 

The fried rice is prepared by using charcoal, instead of modern-day cooking utensil--and this is the recipe that's been handed down for years. And..I think this is what makes this fried rice its authentic taste and flavor--unchallenged by any other standard. 

Located at the northern city square right next to the Sultanate Palace, this banner may look like so oddly shaped and outdated that...first timers would be easily turned off by the fact that 'Pak Pele' is simply a street vendor!!! 

But..boy oh boy...the taste of Pak Pele's signature nasi goreng (fried rice) never fails to impress me. ^^

Bye Bye, Yogyakarta...till we meet again. I do hope that you're recovering soon after being showered by the volcanic ash from Kelud Volcano for the past few days.
