A Date with Eyra and Freya on the First Two Days of School!!!

Yup..it's pretty crazy. I knew that it's the first day of school..sort of. ....after a month-long winter break. But there's this one particular movie that we hadn't seen, yet. 

this is it. We didn't have a chance to catch up with the continued narratives of this human-vampire love stories seen from the eyes of wonderful rendition of what's not impossible. 

The movie was ..of course..dubbed in Korean, for the kids would easily understand Korean than English. *sigh* but then...that's simply because they're getting used to talking and thinking in Korean. haha....I mean...it's their SPONGE-like nature...that they prefer Korean language....since it's their environment.

Ok..the story was that...we missed the movie when it came out last year...

so...once it came out again...I didn't want to let it slip again. Though it's screened at the CINEKIDS hahaha...I did my best to reserve 3 tickets for me and my daughters. And we did.

Boy...it's a small screen suited for children. and..hmm the lights weren't turned out during the whole movie....for the kids might get terrified when the lights were off. Yup..that's CINEKIDS.

anyway...we did see the Monster Hotel 2...a movie firstly appeared last year. But..since we didn't have a chance to see it, we did see it on Jan. 26. 

It's basically a multicultural family hahahaha...yup다문화가정에 대한 영화다. simply hilarious.

I got to pick Eyra from school at 4!! and the movie started at 4.15. and boy oh boy....had we not taken a cab, we would've come late. Even so, we did COME late to the theater. The good thing was that...we DID see the first 10-minute of the movie on TV ad....preview..so practically we didn't miss anything....

The kids loved it. It really taught us what a family made of different background should look like and should behave, act out, think in the face of adversity.

oh,,,sound rough and tough..nope..the movie's practically funny and easy to crunch...^^

AKhirnya Nonton.di Sphere X jg: More Real than Real

Setelah bbrp minggu lalu menjajal IMAX terbesar se-Korea di Cheonho CGV CultureCultureplex, hari ini kusempatkan merasakan sensasi baru di teater Sphere X pertama di Korea. Hmm...apa bener...more real than real???

hmm....terus terang sy tetep suka IMAX...frankly speaking. But....utk menjajal jualan terbaru dr CGV....Lumayanlah utk menikmati aksi tegang penuh intrik dlm.film Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation. So...apa yg berbeda dari SphereX ini.adalah layarnya yang melengkung menjorok ke arah penonton jadi seakan-akan mau memayungi bagian depan...istilah kerennya sih CURVED screen😅😆

*ok...as usual...gak....afdol jika tdk bikin memori dg phototicket!! Hanya dg 1.000 won sdh bs cetak tiket kenangan dg foto apa pun.

ok back to SphereX. Teater ini bisa menampung 224 orang dan inilah jualan CGV 천호 Cheonho ini. Yup...the first one in Korea.

..en....kuambil dr foto di internet. Yup.spt inilah dlmnya. Maunya memotret..wah sy gak sempat...krn telat masuk...sdh gelap.

oya....tapi bukanlah layarnya yg bikin sy senang, I loveeeed the sound system inside the SphereX. ...I didn't know why..but it's more real than what I ecpected. As for the screen....well..maybe because I may have chosen the wrong row. ...I was sitting at K row!!!

I guess...the next time I watch movies...at SphereX....maybe the upcoming Fantastic 4

..I guess I'll take row D or E...so I could feel the CURVED SCREEN of Sphere X

Price-wise......it is 12.000 won or around 140.000 rupiah....which is....surely Less expensive than IMAX, of course. 

But today...since I used my CGV Point...I paid only 4,600 won..or about 50,000 rupiah....a real deal for first-time experience at SphereX.

my verdict: buat org org yg pengen menjajal....boleh coba. Tp kog rasa-rasanya tdk seperti IMAX yg bikin ketagihan terutama utk nonton film megah. Sekali dua kali cukuplah di SphereX. Tp...di.IMAX....wow...berkali-kali pun tdk...cepat bosan. *just saying.

World War Z 월드워 Z

Just got back from watching the premiere of World War Z @ CGV Wangshimni. Ok, first thing first...I still remembered the first time I watched the trailer back then and it was like.."Whoa" It's huge...and I thought I knew what it was all about: well, simply put: an outbreak of zombie apocalypse. But, was it all about that?

It was almost full-house that I got to squeeze myself in between couples. Luckily I managed to get a rather well-situated seat to enjoy the movie. 

I had to admit that it was way much better than what I had expected. Brat Pitt delivered what he promised to be one of the sweating summer blockbuster. I was holding my breath in some of the scenes. The fact that this movie is sort-of divided into 4 or more acts is something fresh: Philadelphia--> Off the Atlantic --> South Korea --> Jerusalem --> Plane Ride --> Scotland(?)--> ...??? 

It was grandeur in scale and grandeur in its premise of scaring me ...enough to make me squirm in my seat.

The fast-paced zombies were so fast in seconds-in-the-making that in a blink of an eye I just could not believe what I saw.

Zombie apocalypse on the global scale raptures the whole world that the only thing we could do is succumb to it...

I love the last 30 minute in the lab which I think is one of the best sequences in the movie. 

Or the cinematic achievement of creating a giant wall all over Jerusalem is also one of the vividly haunting scenes in the movie.

So, I give it a **** out of 5. 

Simply loved the idea of the movie.

CGV Junggye (중계점) Grand Open Fiesta

I saw two special buses parked outside CGV theater at 중계. I guess...the mouth-to-mouth marketing and the internet sensation that Junggye CGV theater has been making for the past week are deemed incomplete without these buses^-^ 

What's not to like? The Grand Opening of this theater (as I wrote in my other entries) teased the movie lovers to have the too-good-to-be-true offer: all movies for only 3,000 Won and that's roughly 2.5 US$ each. What a treat. Even I won't be able to see movie (let alone the 3D ones) in upscale cinema Indonesia. (except in small cities I guess). So...this is a madly insane marketing of the CGV. 

I am happy to be the member of CGV.^^ 

See the buses? They are just parked right outside the Homeplus Mall where CGV occupies the whole 8th floor.

I am madly insane for Iron Man:( :(

I guess I was infatuated by the charms of Iron Man, not because of the movie itself...but I don't know what...One thing for sure..it WAS my third time in a week!!!! that I watched Iron Man 3. I guess..one thing for sure..because it IS only 3,000 Won hahahahaha...(Thanks CGV 중계점 for making my dream come true. I mean..my 2nd and 3rd time of watching the movie..I could just relax and enjoy all the details of the movie. and....oh, wait...I guess...another reason is the soundtrack that I am in love with. I am pretty much into the OST that colors this movie. Gosh..I couldn't have been more infatuated than this...

CGV 중계 Open Week with a Blasting Offer

Wait a sec! is this for real????

well, it is...just like what it says right there. I got to click on my cam so as to confirm and keep it for the sake of making it a historical proof (giggles^^)

well, what what not to like?

ALL movies are just for a mere 3,000 Won. That's like 70% off. It runs from April 25 until May 8, 2013.

It's 7.30 pm in the evening and I learned that there's the newest CGV theater--the one which is much much closer to where I live. It's in Junggye/Hagye station (line 7) which is just 3 stations away from where I live.

As I got into the complex, I was asking to myself as to why there were so many people queuing right in front of the elevator up to the 8 floor. I noticed something 'fishy' was going on...so I ran up the escalator to reach the 8th fl. to find out the 'irresistible' offer that was so hard to turn down.

Yes!

Since it's only 3,000 Won for each movie, I decided to watch Iron Man 3 for the 2nd time. This time on Digital screen no 3D no 4DX. Just wanna feel it on a usual screen. Oh, I almost did not make it to see it again that night...well...since all seats were sold out.

One thing to learn: just be patient and keep your eyes glued on the keep-changing screen telling how many seats were left/available. Since buying and reserving tickets in Korea secure online/real-time features, I told myself that there were chances people would just give up reserving/cancel their reservations in seconds. And so there was..I was right. Just when I was patiently waiting for another 20 minutes, 2 available seats popped out --out of nowhere--on the screen. 

Grabbed my queuing number and dashed into the ticket counter and bought the ticket for a mere 3,000 Won. 

That's a privilege of being CGV member.

Where are you? I am IN the movies!!!

It's just me or my being oblivious..I don't know..

I read the news that Ironman 3 is the 1st movie to be screened in 4DX in Japan. What? I thought Japan has already set up one of these state-of-the-art cineplex coz even Thailand and Mexico have some. 

Of course since this technology is developed by Korea's CJ Group, I could enjoy this 'massage-while-watching-movie' experience easily whenever I want to in most CGV cineplex across the country.

So, I could say that Korean movie goers must be proud since they actually have already enjoyed this '4DX' theaters. I also learn that it is a privilege that a few countries have been able to enjoy, including Mexico, Thailand, China..and a few others. http://www.cj4dx.com/

Ironman 3 is the second movie I enjoyed at CGV 4DX theater. And it's worth-it if you want to enjoy a kind of different sensation that 3D movie offers. 

Guess...it'll be more and more movies to be screened in 4DX.

I am dreaming of having an IMAX 4DX...and THAT'll be so cool!!

As a movie freak, I love the fax that 4DX theater is just around the corner at my neighborhood.

*I hope that this 4DX experience will be available soon in Indonesian cinemas soon.

Come on 21Cineplex or Blitzmegaplex...pls. pls. pls. make this dream come true.

Oblivion..Oblivious ...Oblivioso^^

Almost weekend and I deserved to pamper myself as I finally managed to submit all of the assignments on time!!!Yippeeeyy. To even make it even better, I think I did a good job in finally finishing all of the scripts for today's broadcasting @ KBS. So.......it's MOVIE time!!!!

Being a movie freak, I do not know as to why I always have an urge to watch the movie while it's still in its first days of release...^^

After having finished recording, I made sure that there were some slot of time where I could sneak myself into movie experience by soaking myself in the IMAX theater where I could watch Tom Cruise muscled up his action on the screen.^^ 

Not that many people were around since it was around 4 pm where most people were still at the office. I guess students like me were the ones who dotted a place like this at this hour. 

It was a good thing that I managed to have a good seat for this particular viewing of OBLIVION  

Yes...I just watched his latest sci-fi flick 'Oblivion'
I came into the theater without any expectation of what to see. Didn't know what the story was all about prior to entering the theater. So, with no expectation at all, I think I kinda enjoyed the movie.

Had it not been on IMAX, I would not have been so blown away by the spectacle.

Indeed it was a feast to the eyes although...I got to admit that the story was kind of "oh-that-look-familiar-kind of story.^^

I don't know why..but the Tom Cruise-style Wall-E was something that came to my mind.

Of course, ..only to find that......Wall-E has some deeper and touching 'heart'^^

Once again...Yongsan CGV has finally become one of the hangout places where I could spend my time after working. hmm..sounds irresistible. 

CGV @ I Park Mall in Yongsan

Just got back from the CGV Cinema at Yongsan I Park Mall. I was about to go home when I bumped (deliberately^^) into this huge cinema complex. It was a last minute decision actually. But, being a movie freak....I just could not resist the temptation of not going there ... 

Did not have much time..so I just checked out what movies were available.

Wish the Ironman 3 was on..but I guess I got to be back again next week. 

So, I watched 'The Host" (hmm...not that quite interesting movie but..some scenes indeed are breathtaking). 

As usual, I like to take pictures of the CGV cinema and what it looks like. I think this one is pretty impressive, too. If only it were not that far from home, I would make it as my priority venue for movie experience. 

But ...once in a while I think this CGV at I Park Mall is worth-trying, too.

Why Not?

WHY Not? Yes..why not. After all, it's free. 

A great companion for a movie experience. 

I didn't expect it when I was buying the movie ticket. 

One ticket attendant g presented me with a free coupon for this set of movie companion on my birthday.^^

Pororo: The Racing Adventure (The Movie)

As I promised the kids, well...actually...they and all Korean kids across the nation asked for it, I took the kids to CGV Cinema at Wangshimni to see one of their beloved characters: Pororo 뽀로로. This made-in Korea character has transfixed and bedazzled lots of kids ...glued them every day on TV or on internet or on any other platform to enjoy the excitement that Pororo and his friends bring about to their world.

This time....this is on BIG SCREEN. The Pororo Racing Adventure hit theaters since January 24 and I booked the tickets in advance so that we could see it on Sunday (January 27, 2013).

It was a good decision to do so since lots of parents do the same thing for their kids.

I was prepared to encounter lots of kids with their parents or parents with their kids thronged into the theaters across Korea and I am sure any other countries, too.

Overall, the kids loved the movie that they begged me to let them re-watch it again.

What? No.!

It's expensive, dear..to watch a movie on cinema.

That's why I decided to take the kids to see the digital movie only, not necessarily the 4XD cinema where the seat could move along with the story of the movie.

hmmm...it woud've been fun but...surely it would've cost more, as well.

The good thing was that...Eyra and Freya loved the movie although it was not the 4XD cinema.

Pi's Story: It's NOT 'Life of Pi"

Yes...this is not Ang Lee's Life of Pi, but this is the Story of Pi or 파이스토리 how this is affectionately called in Korea. I was a bit overwhelmed by the fact that they changed(?) the movie's title into Pi's story. well, although this is just a children movie or a family one...this has been able to substantially increase its influence among young audiences; including Eyra and Freya. 

So...since we did not want to miss a thing, we ordered it through hassle-free online reservation. Thank God that we made a good decision of doing that, otherwise we would not have gotten the tickets.

Eyra and Freya were happy to se th movie. Thy've been so much influenced by the bombardment of kids' advertisement and commercials flaunting right in front of their eyes...:(  

This is at Enter 6 Wangshimni where a person acted out like a Grecian statue(?)) Anyway...this looked so cool. He did not even move a muscle or any other outfit that may. 

It moved!! Some people did mistake it for the real one.

Oh no...it's not that clear..but.Eyra and Feya wee happy. They watched a particular movie like this one...finally. and..they have asked me to reserve other tickets for Pororo: The Racing Game" premiered on January 24, 2013.Oh,..swell..that'll be cool.:*-*

Life of Pi: Finally Seen It...and Awed Again...

For those of you who might notice the differences between the movie ticket of Lotte Cinema and that of CGV, you may find that the Lotte's is more like a ticket than the CGV's. The former is made of  paper of course but a rather thick one that resembles what a ticket should be. But, anyway...I am not going to talk about that right here. After all, both are  arguably having the same in function. So, what's the big deal? ^.^

I watch cinemas either in CGV or Lotte Cinema. It all depends on where I am at the time or as to what time the movies are scheduled. As simple as that.

That's why...I got two membership cards at both cinema chains in Korea. 

Now I'd have the itch of jotting down what I thought about Life of Pi.

First: about the 3D being used in this movie. I think it is one of the best 3D rendering in movie history. I mean...the 3D is not so excessively used to jolt us down as in other movies...rather...this technology just made me be able to feel the depth of (both) scene and feeling poured into this movie.

The other day...after a long pondering as to whether I should watch it then or later on....I just thought to myself that I would not let this chance slip away.

So, there I was. Sitting in a dark theater with my 3D glasses on.....transported into the amazing wonderment that Ang Lee captures purely from his heart and passion...projected on the big screen of countless awesomeness. 

Breathtaking scenes shot in a delightfully and earnestly modest color of imagination.

No wonder lots of people brag about this.

I haven't read the book, but from what was being pictured on the movie, it was a really remarkable story of "survival and belief...that a human can endure at the face of seemingly countless impossibilities."

Oh, my...this is I think the best India scenery I have ever seen on movies. 

It's just simply breathtakingly..soothingly.....cinematic portrayal of  India's country side....

As for r the story goes...I was so absorbed into the 277 days (of course,  in the movie ..it won't look that long but..it is still seen and visibly overwhelming) of endurance and patience and of an unlikely friendship (between Pi and a Bengal tiger) being portrayed through the genuine acting of Suraj Dharma who portrayed Pi in the movie.

Ang Lee once again has proven himself to be a master of poetic story-telling.

CGV Cinema @ IFC Mall, Seoul

The familiar facade of the IFC mall. My new hangout venue for me!!! Well, having a chance to do a daily activity in Youido turned out to be fun. I thought that it would be so dull to be in the office complex whole day long. But...I was wrong.

In between time, especially during lunch hour, I could just sneak into this mall easily. Well, no other reason but..just to warm myself up in the midst of this shivering cold snap.^^ 

( -10 C is not my thing...for I am after all an avid tropical person myself).

So, the other day..I got a chance to enjoy myself being an escapee from my daily routines. Bought myself a movie ticket...and..enjoyed the rest of the day.

The Tower: Korea's recent blockbuster flick in Winter. 

I deem it: Towering Inferno: Korean Style.

As for the ambiance of the theater....it would be an understatement if I just call it amazing. It's more than that.  The lounges, the bookstore, the cafe, the nuance, and the ambiance...oh, did I mention the waiting lounge....

Well, the cinema lane within this CGV theater is a must-visit venue for any movie lovers in town.

I know it looks like not many people there...well, it was around 6 pm when not many people were yet to be there. But, I could assure you that..it is usually fully packed with workers and employees and I am sure tourists as well....who mostly work and come at this central business district.
