Second Stop Over: Bandung

After looong zigzagged alleys, finally...... 

home sweet home...where I used to spend my time back and forth Jogja-Bandung from 1999-2009. 

I arrived at around 5....and smelled the sense of warmth of being home.  

Got to the 2nd floor and headed to hyeong's room where I could see the pictures we took when he went to Korea for the first time back in 2001.

Sneaked out of the room and took some pictures from the rooftop from where I could see rooftops of the neighbors in a very crowded area. 

the laundry area and the steep wooden stairs....gee...I remembered spending my time back in Bandung...years back. going up and down these stairs.

So, I cherished every moment I spent in my blietzkrieg stop over in Bandung. Mom's having a phone call with hyeong who's now in Brisbane. Yup, I intentionally did not tell him that I was coming to Bandung to give him a surprise. He called home immediately as I sent him our pics! 

As a special gift, I brought along 유자차 or citrus tea from Korea. 

I'm happy to know that Ibu liked it a lot. Yes...it's good for her.  

I didn't have that much time...since it's just a stop over, I got to rush back to Jogjakarta the next morning....

Bayu took me to the train station by his motorbike!!!

Alhamdulillah....a short stop over in Bandung really cherished our days.

Road Trip to Bandung Via Cipularang Toll Road

Cipaganti Travel Service took me to Bandung from Bogor. oh, what's this? oh..it's the first rest-area..where I bought some TAHU SUMEDANG. hahaha..... 

Back to the minivan that took me to Bandung. It took about 3 hours to Bandung. 

With only 3 passengers....It was a pleasant trip since I got my whole seat...enough space for me to relax.

As we got nearer to Bandung..the traffic became...well...you guessed it. 

It's jammed!! Welcome to Bandung. 

The Capital of Asia Africa. Well, for anyone who's into history, Bandung could pop up into one's mind. since it was the venue of Asia Africa Conference back in 1955: the catalyst for independence of Asia-Africa nations!!! 

Now...taking a taxi to my second stop-over: I enjoyed the leisure city like Bandung. 

I was approaching more familiar places.... 

even more familiar....Glatik Dalam district!!!

Like going back home: yup...it's also home to me.

Bye Bye, Hyeong

My hyeong (along with his family) who's been living in Brisbane got 4-week vacation in Indonesia and it so happened that I was back home in Indonesia. Well, we sort of planned it this way...but ..unfortunately..we did not have enough time to meet since he got his own plan and so did I. 

So, upon finding that he's visiting Jogjakarta...I got to make sure that I met them. And I did. But..it was only a few hour-meeting...not enough, for sure. But, what could we do?

I am more than being happy to meet them in person after my last encounter with them back in 2009 when I visited them in Brisbane. 

So, bye-bye, hyeong. Hv a great life down there in Brisbane.

I do hope to see them again someday. Insyaallah.

Traveling by train

Taking the executive train from Jogja to Bandung, Jogja to Kediri, Jogja to Jakarta has been one of the most convenient ways of traveling for our family.

Taking the air-conditioned train will enable us to enjoy the time while traveling while at the same time enjoying the sceneries along the way. 

It is so cold inside the compartment, especially at night since the AC is not adjustable. But, then we got no choices but to feel and be inside it. Like the time when I got to wear some clothes to cover up my balded head. I got to do it otherwise I would freeze during 5 to 7 hour ride from Jogja to Bandung or to Kediri.

On any other occasion, we had no choices but to take a business class where no air conditioner is available. When it happened, we had to bear all the possibilities of less convenience along the way.

But, hey...my kids love traveling by trains so much that we take trains more often than by bus.
