What a mess, well...we just moved in. |
Spring or at least.....February and March are the best months to move into new homes. I just found out that Koreans tend to change their address a.k.a. moving out into new apartments, houses, one-rooms, two-rooms, villa, and other types of housing....before Spring or during Spring.
and...so do we.
Last week on March 9, just one day after my birthday...we moved into a new house. Previously, we lived in a "two-room" where we stayed for a year and two months.
Now we have moved into a new small apartment ...a very small but surely this one is bigger than our previous one. It is actually our university's apartment for foreign students and faculty members.
(GOOOOSSSHH just look at the boxes, stuffs, and other gosh-I-don't-remember-what:) Anyway, thanks to our friends who helped us out during the moving-out and moving-in parts, we finally made it.
We brought all of our stuffs and stacked and squeezed them into boxes. See those? Apparently, we used the used-boxes we got from the stores and some we bought from the post office. One thing for sure....we just thought of the best and efficient way of bringing in all the stuffs we had.
So...bye-bye our "two-rooms" in Imundong.
Thank you soooo much for being our home for the more than a year.
We now live in Nowon-district. a 20-minute ride by subway ^-^ Horray...:( ^-^ just to get to campus.
Farther away...but the neighborhood is comfier.
Hlw Abang,
ReplyDeleteNama saya Fahad. Saya pelajar KGSP Undergrad. I started reading ur blog last year when u was in Globee Dorm. I was interested to follow ur blog to get some info before moving to HUFS.
I am moving to HUFS next semester. I already talked with the office and requested them to give me a room in the apartment. They said every apartment has two room for 3 students. 1 big room for 2 students and 1 small room for 1 student. They said me that they will give me the small room. I think u already moved to same kind of apartment. If so, would u plz give me some information about the advantages and disadvantages of HUFS appartment. Also I want to see the small room. Would be glad if u could send me a photo of the room if possible.
Halo Fahad, Thanks for dropping in and following my blog. Oh, Selamat Datang ^^ welcome aboard to HUFS. Congrats. So, as you may be aware of, HUFS (Seoul Campus) has 2 dorms & 1 apartment: (A) one inside campus, (B) one off campus, but just 100 meters away from campus) and (C) one foreign professors & students apartment way off campus (20 minutes by subway) where I am staying at the moment. If you like to cook your own food and do not mind hanging around with two other roommates, then...this is for you.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget that..you also may need to prepare additional money for some transportation. I used to live at the HUFS dorm for 4 months before my family arrived. HUFS dorm (inside campus) is also convenient...praying and hoping that you'll meet a good roommate^^. Thank God, I did have a good roommate. Oh, if you wanna have more privacy...then the apartment (though it is small) is a good choice.
or..actually...you could stay in One-room scattered around HUFS. Sure..it costs more around 450,000 won/month. about the picture, let's see. or do you have email where I could send you the picture of the small room? thanks.
Thanks for your reply.
ReplyDeleteI am actually moving to HUFS on August. I just finished my language test today and I hope I will get level 3 this time. The office told me that I have to pay 100000 for the apartment and my two roommates will be from my own country. I contacted with them and they also told me about transportation cost and facility fee of the apartment. Including everything I have to spend around 200000-250000 for the room which is kinda reasonable. I didnt visit the room yet. I will visit the room after getting my result of Korean Language Test. The reason why I am thinking to go for apartment is bcz of kitchen and privacy. My friend told me that to rent a room near campus is kinda expensive and I have to pay huge amount of money as deposit. I also heard about another HUFS dorm near to campus. Would you mind to give me more information about this off campus dorm if you know. Specially about the cost, kitchen facilities etc.
Would be glad if you send me the photo of that small room to "fahadbdasia@gmail.com"
Btw I visited your city in 2011. I had a nice time at Jogjakarta, Maliboro, Pantai parangtritis, Jombor Bus Station, UGM :)
sama sama.
DeleteSo,I think that'll be great if you'll be sharing the apt. with your friend from Malaysia, too since that'll skip you from having to 'adjust' the cultural differences.^^. Good, then. So, I guess..you don't need to think about the other dorm near campus since the one I am staying right now is much better. Believe me. After all, the neighborhood (Hwarangdae) where the apt located is calmer than Imundong (where our campus is). I mean it is necessary sometimes to get away from the crowded imundong area (our campus). So, living in HUFS apartment in Hwarangdae will be a good start for your campus life. Believe me.^^ Don't worry, it'll have amenities you'll need around. We got convenient stores (Checked), and E-mart (Checked), subway station (Hwarangdae sta.) definitely. OH, being a KGSP student and staying in HUFS apt. that'll surely help you save some money (even after incorporating the transportation fee). Hope you get 3rd level on TOPIK. oh..the pic. I'll send you via email. wait for it.
Well, as for me...I visited KL three times already (one for vacation, the other two for seminars).
Oh, there is also one professor from Malaysia who's currently living at the apt, too. You'll be meeting him once you're here. Well, actually, there are more foreign professors with their families compared to foreign students since after all, it is foreign professors hufs. That's why although it was built years back, don't worry..the facilities are relatively good.aka fully equipped. Ok, sampai jumpa Agustus (Ogos) then.
After reading your prompt reply I am thinking to take the apartment rather than the dorm. You are right. HUFS campus and surroundings are really crowded. I already passed level 3 but I have to wait to till August to move to HUFS as the new semester will begin in September. In the meantime I will try to get level 5 to make my student life more comfortable at HUFS academically as well as financially :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your prompt reply with a lots of helpful information.
Btw, I am not Malaysian :D
I am from Bangladesh. I was studying in International Islamic University Malaysia from 2010-2011. During my stay in Malaysia I learned some Bahasa Melayu by speaking with locals.
Saya orang Bangladesh..ha ha :)
Hai Fahad. nice decision. just make sure that you told the office of international affairs to secure your apartment by the start of the semester.^^. Oh, I am sorry...I thought you were Malaysians.^^ Welcome, brother^^.
Deletebtw...my neighbor ...just right in front of our room is also from Bangladesh. His name is Imam. He's staying with his friends, too (I don't know from where). I met him twice already but not yet having a chance to talk much.
* btw..about the level 5 thing, go for it...yes...if you got level 5, surely...you'll have more scholarship.^^
good luck.
