Peter's visit to Jogjakarta

I think it's been for its 4 consecutive years that Peter has this so-called annual rite to visit Jogjakarta.
this time, he stayed in Melia Hotel, instead of Garuda or Mutiara near Malioboro. I guess it's good since it was surely of great advantage for him to know more and more of Jogjakarta.
I think Jogja has been a sort of 'home' for him. well, I think because in the first place, he likes everything old and everything related with historical stuffs, data, facts, etc.
so, he ends up having his so-called fancy 'affair' with Jogjakarta's old and new--the old ones particularly.
so, last week ( June 30 up to July 1, 2011) he had a two day stopover from Singapore before leaving for Brisbane.
he ended up (once again) buying some batiks, old pictures of the Sultan (?) I guess. and some of the antiquities that I find them ....well....old dated. But, once again, he finds them interesting and intriguing.

and...to highlight of what he did for this time around:
1. we went to Pasar Klithikan (a supposedly made market for antique stuffs), well to some extent it IS. but unfortunately, we came tooooo early in the morning (no..I think it was around 10.30) and not many shops were open. To my surprise, most shops usually open after 4 in the afternoon!!!). well.
2. we went to Mirota Batik three times!!!!
3. we rode on a becak to have a short trip going around Jogja (actually from Melia Purosani Hotel to Mirota Batik--a shopping haven for Jogjakarta and Javanese handicrafts)
4. we managed to have a look at Vrederburg (once again) where they opened up this varied arrays of shops during the FKY (Festival Kesenian Yogyakarta), Jogjakarta Art Festival for one-month.
5. we managed to have a dinner at Miroto Rooftop restaurant where we could see the Drag Queen Show (but it did not start until midnite) so we kinda skip it. :)
6. I managed to take him to my office, campus. : had a sneek peek of Gedung Pusat UGM,
7. I took him to masjid kampus UGM, where he joined the prayer (of course he just sat at the back during the sermon).
8. I took him to ambarukmo plaza. finally, he could enjoy having a stroll inside the mall...where he found the crocodiles t shirts which were 50% off. the prices are cheapppeeer compared to those in Australian stores. well, I think he's pretty much happy about it. (Had he known that a week earlier, they had a midnight sale when almost all stuffs were 70% off) hehehe.
9. we had late lunch at foodcourt on the 3rd floor and we were talking for like 2 hours!. haha.
10. then..I insisted that he should join me for dinner with my students from Korean department and our guest students from Pusan University of Foreign Studies..who happened to be in the city to learn bahasa Indonesia.
11. all in all, I think he had a great time.
